Behind Closed Doors: Chapter 4

That same day after Cathy left Kaine was sitting in his room just flipping through the pages of a sports magazine when Seth deliberately walks in his room "you know knocking was invented for a reason" Kaine says still flipping the pages

"scared I might catch you masturbating?"

kaine knows how he really wants to answer that but upon recent agreements, he settled for "why don't you walk out then walk in again and we find out?" Seth shuts the door sitting on the chair near Kaine's bed

"what's going on with you? you've been in here all morning and you haven't eaten a thing yet"

Kaine chuckles "I'm not hungry, and I didn't want to bother the beautiful bonding going on between you and Cathy" he said her name with a tone he can't help and Seth always recognizes.

"Kaine I know I was kind of harsh the other day and I am sorry but-"

Kaine cuts him off "don't apologize you said how you felt and I respect that"

Seth sits quietly for a second contemplating on what he should say next "that's the thing, I..." suddenly stopping afraid of the words about to come out of his mouth Seth gets up leaving Kaine's room

Kaine quickly follows "you what?"

"nothing forget it" Seth says but Kaine could feel there was more

"just tell me" Kaine insists but Seth didn't want to

"forget it ok" he grabs his jacket heading for the door

"wait, Seth-" but before Kaine could finish Seth was already gone.

Kaine didn't know what was going on, Seth has never run out on him like that before, and he always finished what he had to say. This caught Kaine by surprise so the only thing he could do is call someone who could better explain the situation. He takes out his phone calling Emma, her phone rings many times but no answer so Kaine gives up and just goes back to his room.

Kaine spent the whole day trying to figure out what Seth couldn't tell him, so stressed and out of ideas Kaine got up heading to the kitchen, on his way there the front door opens and in comes Seth "hey..." he walks in shutting the door. He wasn't expecting Kaine to be there

"hey" Kaine replies back not being able to come up with anything better. Seth walks to the couch and sits down while Kaine pours himself a glass of water " you wanna play pool or something I'm bored" Kaine asks and Seth nods getting up and walking towards the pool table.

they both play pool in awkward silence, Seth giving Kaine little stares here and there and Kaine trying hard not to notice. After 20 minutes the guys stop playing taking a break "I'm so beating your ass dude" Seth says as Kaine sits on the pool table while his feet dangle

"of course you are you play this game for a living, and I learned from you" most of the things Kaine knows now is because of Seth, he got his taste in music from Seth, his movies, and how to play pool, poker, and Black Jack. Kaine sits in silence while Seth stood near him looking at him, he has something to say but doesn't know how to let it out, when Kaine notices that Seth's fighting back on something he says "just spit it out, Seth"

"what?"

"I know you want to tell me something you don't have to be scared just tell me"

Seth takes a deep breath and begins "Kaine I don't know what's wrong with me, I know I was the one that told you to stop trying to get with me but I miss it..." instead of overreacting Kaine patiently listens "I like you Kaine a lot but I love Cathy."

Kaine is stuck, the guy he's liked for the past 2 years just told him he likes him too he should be bouncing off the walls, but for some reason, he wasn't convinced "I don't understand" Kaine replies

"I need your help, I don't know what I am I just know I have feelings for you too." Seth always thought he's feelings towards Kaine were nothing more than friendly, but it never dawned on him why he was so ok with Kaine making passes at him.

"but you have a girlfriend"

"I know and that's the fucked up part, some parts of me don't feel right with Cathy" Kaine was getting mixed signals but he just goes along with what Seth's saying

"what is it exactly that you need my help with?"

"I need you to help me figure out what I am..." Seth knows what he wants to say but he doesn't know how to say them or even if he wants to say them out loud

Kaine, knowing exactly where this is going says "you need my help figuring out if you're gay or straight?" Kaine himself couldn't believe the words coming out of his own mouth. 'Where was all of this coming from? just this morning Cathy and Seth were all happy and next thing he's telling me he doesn't know how he feels'. Seth nods and Kaine goes on "what would I have to do?"

"something you've probably dreamt about" Kaine knows off the bat what he means

"you mean..." too stunned to finish

"yes, Kaine I mean have sex with me" Kaine's heart explodes not knowing whether to run or pass out. His head is telling him this is obviously a bad idea, this is the boy he's in love with handing him a cake he'd be stupid not to eat it. A chance with Seth is all Kaine's ever wanted, to prove he's better than Cathy he can take care of Seth.

Thinking for only a second he answers "I'm in" Seth smiles knowing he would never say no "I'll help you only because there is a chance that I might be who you want to be with"

"One condition" ... "Cathy can't know, I don't want to tell her anything until I'm sure"

It was too soon for Kaine to feel bad about this and he really doesn't care about Cathy enough to mind so of course, he says "fine."

"No Kaine promise me you won't tell her "

"I Kaine Dawson promise I will not tell" he agrees. Still on the table with Seth next to him Kaine looks at Seth "so what now?" Seth smiles and comes between Kaine's legs moving closer to him

"this" he whispers bringing his lips to Kaines.
