THE NEXT DAY
IN THE PARTY HALL
"Congratulations, Sarah."
Sarah closed her eyes tightly as soon as she heard the voices of the people who just wished her. Just what she didn't need at that moment.
Today was the reception party of her marriage which is organised by Helena Watson, her step grandmother. She was completely against the party but yet again she didn't have any choice. As it was forced upon her once again. But she made sure that no media or business associates were invited. Just the so-called immediate family members.
She turned around to look at those people who were already looking at her with sick smirks on their faces which made her fist her hands tightly. But she kept her face blank and void of any emotions.
"Oh, my god! Look at the glow on your face, Sarah! Aren't you looking beautiful, dearest cousin sister?" Natasha, one of her step cousins said in a mocking tone and laughed out loud like a mean girl from the movies.
Sarah looked at her blankly before looking at all the people present in front of her whom she was trying to ignore the whole night.
There were her father's step brothers, Harrison and Henry Watson and their wives. Her father, John Watson is David Watson, her grandfather's son from an arranged marriage which he was forced to do. David Watson was in love with Helena, a cunning money-loving woman who didn't love him truly but his money only.
She manipulated David to leave his wife to marry her. Her grandmother committed suicide after that, leaving her father alone in the world. He grew up under the shadow of Helena Watson, who cared less about him. David Watson didn't live for long too, only twenty years maybe.
Now the incharge of the family is Helena Watson which gave her the power to toss her family anyway they want to. Helena rules over her family completely, forcing things upon her and her family.
There was only Natasha present out of her four cousins. Others were out of the country for their businesses. Natasha is the daughter of Henry Watson. Cunning, selfish and mean are the only words to describe her.
"I can't believe our little princess is now someone's wife." Harrison Watson said with a smirk.
"And that someone is just a mere driver. When did she get so lucky?" Henry Watson mocked and everyone laughed out loud after hearing him.
Sarah just stood there with gritted teeth. She knew it ought to happen but she still wasn't prepared enough. Those words were making her angrier every passing second but she tried hard to stay calm.
"From that I wonder, where is our son-in-law, Sarah? I have somewhere to go and I was wondering if he could drop me there." Harrison said and everyone laughed again.
She didn't know where her husband was. From the time she reached the party, she didn't interact with anyone present in the room. Not even with her family. She kept herself busy at the corner of the room. She heard her grandmother introducing her husband to everyone. She also heard them taunting and laughing at him. So, he must be somewhere around.
"Such a misfortune it is! Our princess like Sarah is married to a mere driver. I feel disgusted even by the thought of it." Harrison's wife said with a fake sympathy on her face.
"I know right. Also think about how we are going to face our friends from the high class society when they will know that our Sarah is married to a mere driver. Such a shame and disgrace!" Henry's wife added after her and looked at Sarah like she was disgusted by her presence.
The more they talked the more Sarah felt her blood boil. How low these people could think? She wondered.
"Sarah? He is just a driver, right? He obviously can't afford your lifestyle. How are you gonna manage now? Is he going to be a live-in son-in-law? Are you going to take his responsibility instead of him?" Harrison asked in a taunting tone.
"Of course he is going to live on her money. He can't afford it. Such a disgrace!" Henry added with a snarl.
Sarah could only hear them and wonder how more aggressive they can become, just to satisfy some sick ego. She felt unbearable anger running through her veins. But she stood there while biting down her teeth as her patience kept wearing off.
"Sarah, yesterday was your wedding night, right? How was it? As low as his profession or what?" Natasha asked with wiggling eyebrows with evilness filled in her eyes and that was the last straw for Sarah.
She might not like the situation she was in but that doesn't mean they can talk as much rubbish as they want about her and about that man whose only fault is that he is a driver.
"Enough!" She bellowed with harshness in her tone and glared at everyone. "What are you guys made of, huh? How can you talk garbage nonstop? Aren't you guys tired by continuously talking rubbish about a person? Who is now connected to one of the daughters of the family?" She asked in disbelief in her tone.
"Now are you angry that your husband is nothing but a loser and venting that on us?" Harrison's wife asked her with a frown.
"No! I am not angry or anything. I am just shocked by how low you guys can think while claiming yourselves as high class people. And as far as him being a driver, it doesn't bother me. Because my parents taught me how to respect and treat everyone equally which I guess your parents failed." She snapped at each of them which shut them off. Everyone went silent after that but she wasn't done yet.
"And as long as it's about your reputation because I am married to a driver, you should talk to your mother about it. I am sure she will give you guys a satisfying explanation." She said before walking away from the group which was fuming by then.
She didn't feel like being part of that so-called party anymore which was specially organised to insult her and her family. So, she directly walked out of the mansion, unaware of the fact that someone followed her outside who heard her whole conversation with her family.
"Miss Sarah, Miss Sarah, please stop."
Sarah's step halted as soon as she heard his voice. Her husband's voice. Why was he calling her?
Please leave me a review and give me gems!
"Miss Sarah, Miss Sarah, please stop." Sarah's step halted as soon as she heard his voice. Her husband's voice. Why was he calling her? This time she didn't keep her back facing him. She turned around to face him, to see his face for the first time and she felt the breath getting knocked out of her lungs. There stood a man, a few steps away from her, with a distanced face. He was wearing a black uniform suit. He was tall, maybe almost six feet. His facial features were sharp which could easily put a world-class model to shame. His sharp jaw was capable enough to cut glasses. His perfect silky black hair was styled. His stormy grey eyes were the most captivating. He was none other than the new Son-In-Law of the Watson's, her husband. He got another identity. The driver of the family. She remembers his name from the register paper. Elijah.
A FEW DAYS LATER "Close the door behind you, Elijah." Helena Watson ordered in her cold tone while not removing her eyes from the file she was reading. Elijah abided by the order quickly and closed the door behind him carefully before walking toward her table obediently. His face was void of any emotions as he stood in front of her, preparing himself for the upcoming stressful hour. "What can I help you with today, ma'am?" Elijah spoke up after a few moments of silently standing there. She looked up from the file and gave him a long look. "Sit down on the chair, Elijah. It's going to take time." She said with a cunning look which he immediately took a note of. She closed the file and concentrated on him. She kept her eyes on his every move. He hesitantly pulled the chair a little back before sitting down on it stiffly. He l
SOMEWHERE IN THE CITY "What's the plan now, boss?" A man in black suit asked his boss who was sitting in front of him, in darkness, with a lot of seriousness. "The plan was always the destruction of the Watson's, Jonah. It's never going to change until it's done." The man in the dark said to his employee, Jonah who nodded at him with a serious look on his face. "Yes, boss and their destruction is already knocking on their door." Jonah said with a confident smirk on his face which impressed his boss. "Where is 'he', Jonah?" The man asked after a few seconds, noticing that someone really important was missing from the meeting. "He had a late night meeting for his personal business, he should be here soon." As soon as Jonah was done explaining, there was a knock on the door and a voice came from the other side of the room. "May I co
TWO DAYS LATER "Hey, you! Come here!" A really arrogant girl in her early twenty called Elijah who was standing almost ten steps away from her, beside her oldie grandmother's luxurious car. She is Samantha Watson, another hire of the Watson family. She is young and beautiful but most of the beauty is artificial on her face as starting from the eyelashes to her teeth, they are all fake. From the look of her, it looks like she had done her lip and nose job quite a few times at this age. She was wearing a tight short dress while her dyed blonde hair was left open. She was wearing sunglasses which is why her eyes weren't visible and she was continuously fanning herself as the sun was shining hot. Samantha is a model, a Victoria secret model to be exact. She was in the Maldives for her shoot for the past two months. She has heard a lot about this handsome man standing in front of her from her cousin sister, Natash
"Look, who just walked in?" Samantha asked with crossed hands and an arrogant look on her face the moment Sarah and Jordan walked inside the living room of the Watson mansion. "Oh, you are talking about 'the walking bad luck'?" Natasha added after her and they both started to laugh together while sharing a high five. Sarah rolled her eyes at them. They both are older in age than her yet they behave like some freaking high school mean teenage girls. She ignored them and was going to walk past them when Natasha put her leg in her way to make her trip. Sarah wasn't looking and the moment she was going to walk past Natasha, she tripped on Natasha's leg and lost her balance. She was going to fall down and kiss the ground when Jordan got a hold of her waist at the right moment and saved her by pulling her up. "Are you alright?" He asked in a worried tone while still holding her by the waist.
"Everyone take your seats." She ordered in an authoritative tone which no one can disobey. The living room was divided into four sections. Three of them for three families and one for Helena Watson. Helena walked toward the lavish single couch which was specially made and designed for her only. Everyone sat down. Sarah was sitting beside her mother while her mother was sitting between her and her father. Helena gave all of them a small nod before starting the meeting. "So, almost all of us know why we all gathered here today. Yet I would like to address the issue again." She started saying. Sarah fisted her hands and gritted her teeth when such an important topic of her life was being subjected as 'an issue'. "It's about the news of Sarah's marriage!" "The heck is it about?!" Jordan shrieked out as soon as he heard He
"That's insane, grandma! Are you in the right state of your mind? How can you even think of something like this?!" Jordan exclaimed in frustration while looking at everyone in disbelief. Apart from him, no one said anything nor did they protest which frustrated him even more. "Jordan, calm down. It's our matter. Let us handle this." Sarah said with a lot of difficulty while looking down. Jordan scoffed at her after hearing her. He knew that she wasn't happy at all with all the things happening but like the good daughter and sacrificer she is, she didn't say a word against it or for her defence. He looked at her parents. "Uncle John? At least you say something? How did you keep quiet after hearing something like this and even agreed to it?! It's so unfair! Here your only daughter is married to a driver? Didn't you think she deserves much more than that? Also, why only her? Why not Samantha or Natas
"Yes, Mary? What's the status?" Sarah asked while walking toward her car after she walked out of the mansion. Mary is her secretary, also her best friend. They aren't friends from college days or anything because Sarah didn't have time to make friends or socialize. She was well known as the nerd throughout her high school and college days. But puberty hit hard when she raised beautifully as well as successfully and all those who called her names felt an invisible slap on their faces. Whatever she and Mary met when Sarah badly needed a hard-working and dedicated secretary and Mary needed a sincere and 'reasonable' boss. At last, they both were the perfect match for each other and they clicked immediately. Them being of the same age also helped a lot. Apart from boss and secretary or friends, they also fulfilled their duties toward each other as great advisors. At this moment, Sarah could use some of her advice right now.
"Where is she?""How is she?""How did this happen?""I want to see her!"Four different voices exclaimed as they all made an entry at the same time. Elijah, who was lost in deep thoughts, came back to the world and looked at them in a little shock. There was Jonah, Mary, Nick and Natasha who one after another said and asked those things. All of their faces were filled with worry and fear. But among them, Natasha's expression surprised him a lot. It looks like she cried on her way here. She was that scared for Sarah! Unbelievable!"Elijah? Back to earth and tell us what happened here?!" Natasha exclaimed once again as she shook him.He looked at her with a small frown looking at the closed hospital door with a clenched jaw."Sarah is in there,
“Where is Sarah?” Elijah asked with a frown as he looked around the room, looking for her frantically. “Who are you looking for, sir?” A doctor asked in confusion after coming forward. “Sarah! Where is she?” Elijah asked in a panicked tone as he just remembered her. He remembered that she didn’t sound good when they were talking on the phone. She must be in some danger. He felt like beating himself up for forgetting about her. “Who is Sarah, sir?” The doctor asked in a fearful tone. “The one who called me to inform me about Eliana! She was here. I heard you guys when we were on a call. Where is she now?” He asked at the top of his voice. The doctor got scared once again. “We didn’t see anyone when we came here, sir. We got busy with Miss Eliana as soon as we entered the room.” The doctor said and he let out a frustrated groan. “Only god
Elijah felt like his whole body was going to turn cold in anticipation and fear. He tried to call Sarah quite a few times. It kept ringing but no one picked it up. He called the guards as well but no one was picking up the call. He gritted his teeth hard in anger. He was going to kill all of them. He reached the hospital and ran inside it, leaving the car unattended, without parking. He ran toward the elevator to find it taking longer to come down as usual but he didn't have much time. So, he ran toward the stairs to take it to reach the floor where his sister was. Hopefully Sarah was there too. "Oh god! Please let both of them be safe. They both mean a lot to me. They are my everything. Please god. I have begged you for a lot of time but he never showed any mercy but please just this one." He prayed loudly and frantically as he ran upstairs. He was breathless by the time he reached the floor. His heart start
Sarah forgot about everything else at that moment and walked toward the hospital room as fast as she could. She came to meet Eliana. She was supposed to stay there with Eliana for a few minutes before going to the office. She had a really important meeting today which she can't postpone or delay anymore because that's going to mess up her schedule. As she neared the room, she suddenly felt a bad energy coming from the room. The feeling was nerve wracking. It made her heart beat badly, for some negative vibe. She felt so scared suddenly and she didn't know why she was feeling so but it made her want to curl in some corner. It was so so bad! She slowly advanced to the room where Eliana was. Her heart was still beating crazily while her leg was wobbling. Her hand was shaking as she put her hand on the handle. She took some deep breaths. She looked back at the guards and they were still looking at their front with no expressions on their fac
THE NEXT MORNING "Good morning, beautiful." Sarah rolled her eyes at his new nickname and cheekiness. "Good morning, Mr King. Can you please tell me where you find such nicknames every new day?" Sarah asked with a sigh while walking through the hospital corridor. "Well, that's for me to know and you to find out." He said with the same level of cheekiness. She shook her head at him. "How are you today?" He asked after a few seconds. "I am good." She answered in a casual tone. "Are you happy?" He asked once again, making her confused. "Why are you asking that?" She asked with a raised eyebrow which obviously he couldn't see. "Well, you got your husband, your love." He stated and she let out a chuckle. "I am not even going to ask
"What is this man doing here? I just lost my appetite!" Samantha exclaimed like a spoiled brat as soon as she saw Elijah sitting on the dining table. Sarah frowned at her while holding Elijah's hand under the table. But she didn't say anything. "What's there to lose appetite, Samantha? Because as far as I remember about your desert preferences a few months ago-..." Natasha couldn't complete her sentence as Samantha's glare shut her up so she just smirked at her in reply. "Don't you think you have started talking too much these days? Are you sure it's good for your health and peace?" Samantha asked Natasha in a mean tone. "Oh don't worry about my health and peace. I belong to the group of those people who ruin other people's health and peace. So, I know how to protect mine well." Natasha replied back sassily while smirking at Samantha while Samantha was fuming in anger.
"Hello, Jordan. I am very happy to see you but I would have been happier if you had knocked before entering the room." Helena said in pure sarcasm, making Jordan wonder from where does this woman get all this humour. But he was too furious to care about that at that moment. "That bastard is playing a double game with us." He growled in fury as he slammed on the sofa where Elijah was seated previously. "Who are you talking about? And why do you sound so furious?" Helena asked, suddenly getting serious. "I am talking about your so-called master pawn! That damn driver, Elijah. He is playing some double game with us and that makes me furious." He said with gritted teeth, making her look at him with a deeper frown. "What are you talking about?" She asked in a blank tone. "I was just outside the door when you were talking with him." He said and before
ON THE OTHER SIDE "May I come in, ma'am?" Elijah knocked on the door. "Come in, Elijah." Helena spoke up with a small and it creeped Elijah so bad that he felt a shiver run past his spine. He kept his face blank as he got inside the room. It wasn't her office room this time, it was her bedroom. It made the situation more awkward for Elijah. He didn't close the door behind him this time. "Good evening, ma'am." He greeted her politely and she nodded at him with the same smile. "Very good evening, Elijah. I am seeing you after so long. How are you?" She asked in a tone as if she was his biggest well-wisher. "Thank you for asking, ma'am. I am good. I hope the same for you." He said in a low tone while looking down on the floor. "I am good as well, as you can see." She said with a smile. "Why don't you take a seat?" She as
"Now, tell me, what's going on?" Sarah asked as soon as they were inside Natasha's room and closed the door behind. They both took a seat on her bed and Sarah patiently waited for Natasha to open her mouth. But she sat there silently, looking down at her hands, without letting out a single word. Sarah looked at her with a worried frown. "Natasha? Is everything alright?" She asked slowly, in a tone filled with nothing but worry."I don't know, Sarah. My life is in a mess currently and I don't know what to do." Natasha said in agony while breaking down completely. Sarah's eyes widened and she was quick to lean forward and hug her tightly."Oh my god, Natasha! Please don't cry. Everything is going to be alright. Please stop crying." Sarah cooed in a caring tone while rubbing her back soothingly to calm her down.Natasha cried hugging Sarah back, without saying anything and Sarah understood that she needed time.
