Ch. 7 A Plan

Ian's POV

“Dammit!” I barked out loud, even though I hadn’t meant to.

I’d just watched my daughter run out of the house, away from her mate, and it broke my heart. To be honest, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Katalina, while being everything I could ever want in a daughter- kind, compassionate, empathetic, intelligent, insightful, and selfless- was also headstrong and unbending when she set her mind to something. Just like her mother!

We had never had an explicit conversation about it, but I still knew how she felt about the mate bond. I read it in her body language and heard it in the comments she would make about her friends or patients finding their mates.

She’d say things like, “Sarah keeps telling me she wishes she would meet her mate but I can’t help but think how lucky she is that it hasn’t happened yet.” or “So and so just found her mate and keeps saying she’s never been happier. If you ask me, that’s just another broken heart waiting to happen.”

It was her dad suffering that clouded her judgement towards mate bonds , it’s only fair that he helps clarify for Kat , that some parts were great
