The 'warehouse' they mentioned was one of many locations where slaves were held under Redart's control.

Only one of its kind existed in a city, so the Capital’s warehouse was especially important—as well as large.

“The ‘Special’ place, right? We remember.”

Slaves were valued differently based on various factors.

Some slaves—like random beggars who were kidnapped in the streets—were common commodities that weren’t worth much.

Women were priced higher than men when it came to regular folks, since the pleasure that was associated with a female slave seemed to outweigh the labor that a male could provide.

Those who had special abilities—Skills or a useful Class—were valued even higher.

They were taken to the ‘Special’ area of the Warehouse, where only the best of commodities were kept.

“Seems you already know what to do. I’m off to take a shit. When I come back, we’ll get going.”

Everyone in the room knew what Gus was truly going to do in the restroom, but no one said anything.

They just watched him leave.

While Gus' back was turned, one of the men noticed a gleaming white ring on the floor.

It was the same man who had desired the waitress the most

He recognized the ring as the one that the lady called Alicia had worn when she entered the shop.

The same one that Billy had flung away in rage.

‘Hehehehehe…!’

It seemed luck hadn’t fully abandoned this man yet, considering how valuable the ring seemed to be.

While no one was looking, he yanked it from the ground and licked his lips in greed.

“I won’t be long, don’t worry!” Gus's voice echoed, making him tremble as he hastily pocketed the ring.

In a famous mental hospital known as The Haven, there was an old man with long white hair and long white beard sitting on a wheelchair facing the window and the light, staring into nothing in particular with his head bent abnormally.

The room was a small and simple space with white walls and a window that allows natural light to filter in. It is sparsely furnished, containing only a hospital bed with crisp white sheets, a small bedside table, and a reclining wheelchair where he sat alone. The room is quiet and still, with the only sound being the soft hum of medical equipment.

A click sound was heard and his door opened, followed by a female voice. “Mr. Blackwood, you have a visitor.” His nurse announced but he just remained the way he was since he was not in a position or mental state to reply.

“Thirty minutes, Mr. Blackwood. No more, no less.” The nurse told the visitor and allowed him entrance.

The visitor nodded and he entered the room toward where the old man was seated, half conscious.

The visitor was a striking eighteen-year-old guy with an athletic build. He has jet-black hair that falls in a messy style around his face, with a few unruly strands often falling into his bright green eyes.

He walked toward the window and stood in front of the old man, blocking the light. “So how are you doing – grandpa? Remember me? It's your one and only grandson Devon. Remember?” He said innocently.

But there was no response.

Devon sighed, his teeth gritted and he looked away, his gaze facing the white wall and at the same time, feeling something growing in him.

“It's my birthday today, grandpa. I'm eighteen already. Do you believe I get to live this long? No one does. Not even my own adoptive mother. She's always so scared when I do that all the time.” He said and looked back at his grandpa, his once innocent face turning hard and cold.

“You’re here, completely out of your mind. Failing to answer the questions so deep in my heart. Questions that only you could answer.” He kept talking, hoping deep down, he was listening.

“Why did you kill dad?” He asked, getting all emotional once again. “Why did you kill your one and only son? What came over you?” He questioned and a shaky breath escaped him. “And me too. You almost killed me. Almost.”

Still no response.

Devon tilted his head at his grandfather with furrowed brows. He just stayed there without even a blink of an eye.

Nine years ago, he remembered it like it was just yesterday. He was only nine when the Blackwood tragedy happened. It was a known case that blew the whole city.

As Devon Blackwood was the only one who survived.

“Hmm.” He monotonically said as he kept staring at his grandfather. “You – became something else. I know what I saw. I'm not a kid. I was not a kid. I was nine and I know what I saw. I know – yes I know what I saw.”

His body shook as his phone began ringing, causing him to revert his gaze away from his grandfather. He looked at the phone and saw it was his mother.

He sighed and answered, “Hello, mom.”

“Devon, where are you?!”

“Chill, mom. Why? Did Trevor spill the beans? That bastard!”

“Devon!” His mom called in a warning tone. “You know what? Leave where you are and come back home this instant! There's nothing there for you except that murderous psycho you call grandfather! Come back home now!”

Devon angrily cut the call and looked back at his grandfather. “You see – everyone sees you as a murderous psycho. You suddenly went on a rampage that destroyed my life even till the future to come. But here you are – lost in your own mentality.”

He walked further toward his grandfather so he could be face to face with him. “Look at me. LOOK AT ME!!” He yelled and grabbed his head in anger. “Why don't you just die?! If you're gonna be this useless, just die!!” Then he pushed the chair which rolled and hit the bed in the room.

The door opened and the nurse looked at the patient and at Devon with furrowed brows. “Is everything okay here?”

Devon blinked and nodded before looking at the nurse. “Yeah. I was just – having a moment with my – grandfather. I'm actually done with him. Time for me to leave.”

The nurse nodded and opened the door widely for him.

However, as Devon was about to walk away, a hand grabbed him causing his eyes to widen in shock. He looked at his grandfather whose eyes were suddenly on him in a scary manner.

“It's – in – you.” His voice came out huskily.

Devon frowned. “What?”

“The – dark – ness.”

Devon snatched his hand away with the frown still on his face. “What the hell are you yapping about?”

“Ho – me. Ho – me. Go.”

The nurse was intrigued and walked toward the old man. “Oh my God. We haven't been able to get him to talk. This is a miracle!”

Devon huffed and said, “Yeah, whatever. I've got a fucking life to live.”

Then he walked out.

LISA POV"Run without looking back!" Sophia whispered to me through the hedge in the fence as she pushed me towards the forest outside the border.I hesitated to go alone and tried to drag her to come along with me."Come with me, we can escape together. You don't like it here any more than I do," I said, pleading with her for the umpteenth time."No, it's fine," She said, shaking her head adamantly. "I need to cover up your tracks for some time so they won't find out you're gone quickly and come after you. Just don't forget me out there, Lisa. I'll miss you while you're gone," She said as she embraced me tightly."I won't, I'll miss you too," I said, basking in the familiar warmth of her hug as I fought to hold back my tears. I knew it was futile trying to get her to change her mind. Sophia could be stubborn like that.I took a step back and studied her trying to imprint the features of my best friend in my mind one last time. Her auburn hair, piercing green eyes, porcelain skin an

Jeremy's POVThe warmth of the jacuzzi and that of the three women in my arms kept the cold at bay. The music was loud, the crowd was lively, overall it was a good night. While I drowned myself with alcohol, I had beautiful women by my side to keep me from getting cold. I pulled the blonde by my left closer without warning, and she collapsed on my body, a maniacal smile plastered on her face. Her hard silicone breasts pressed hard against my chest while we graced each other with the softness of our lips. Twenty seconds later, she hopped off my body, and paved the way for her dark haired colleague. Purposefully, she circled my hips around mine. The warmth of my hard outline embraced the softness of her buttocks, and my hands folded around her heavy breasts roughly. She moaned gutturally into the depths of my mouth, her curved lips exhaling a testament to the overflowing passion and heat between us. Realizing that their colleague had spent more than twenty seconds on my body, the oth

Lisa's POVI struggled against my bonds as I was roughly dragged by one of the goons as we went to the palace. I couldn't believe that this was happening. I had been captured by the werewolves after all despite my best attempts. They had learnt their lessons the hard way so my hands were tied behind stopping me from using my powers to escape. They all must have looked an intimidating sight to anyone watching judging from their appearance. The sentinels around must have never heard of shirts as their upper bodies were bare leaving their well defined muscles to all and sundry. In a different world I would have swooned at the sight of all these hot male bodies around me.The brazen show of bodies was something that creatures like the vampires wouldn't do. They more much too noble and proud to behave barbaric. At least in public. When outside, their lords affected a gentlemanly air around them that could fool the unwary. I was pulled out of my thoughts roughly as I stumbled and fell on

Jeremy’s POVThe heavy iron door shut behind me with a bang as Lisa’s desperate cries echoed faintly as I swalked away from her cell. I ignored it as I couldn’t afford to let her words sway me.She was a vampire. A vampire. And not just any vampire—Lord Alireza Firouzja’s daughter. The implications of that alone were enough to make my wolf growl.Mate. My wolf had called her that, back in the woods when I’d pinned her against the tree, her scent—or lack thereof—flooding my senses. It didn’t make sense. She didn’t smell like a wolf and neither did she have the metallic smell of bloodlust that clung to vampires like a second skin. And yet, the pull was there. It was undeniable and it was tugging at me. I’d dismissed it as a mistake at first, some trick of the mind after a long night of hunting. But now, I wasn’t so sure.I emerged from the tunnel into the cool night air, the mist making for poor visibility. The trek back to the palace was short, but my thoughts made it feel endless. L

Lisa’s POV The walls of the cell were stone—cold, damp, and old enough to remember war. They didn’t creak like the rotted beams of my father’s dungeons; they were silent, oppressive. Unyielding. I’d been here less than a day, but time stretched thin in a place like this. No one talked about the amount of boredom that came with staying in a place like this. I felt like I was going insane by the hour. I sat on the narrow cot, legs folded beneath me, hands clasped tight in my lap. There was straw on the floor, clean enough, and a single tray of food had been slid through the iron bars earlier. I hadn’t touched it. Not because I was above eating their food, but because hunger felt distant—muted. Like everything else. I wasn’t sure what hurt more: being imprisoned by strangers or the way Jeremy had walked away from me. Mate. The word throbbed in my chest like a bruise. When he’d pinned me against that tree in the woods, I’d felt the pull too. Not just instinct. Not just fear. Something

Jeremy’s POV The corridor outside Lisa’s cell was quiet, but not empty. As I rounded the corner, the scent hit me first—familiar, sharp, and wearing too much perfume. Skylar. She stepped out from the shadows like she’d been waiting all night. Her arms were crossed, expression tight with purpose. She’d always had that look when we were kids—when she’d caught me sneaking out or lying to the elders. But this wasn’t childhood anymore. “I heard you brought something back from the woods,” she said. I didn’t slow down. “It’s not your concern.” She kept pace beside me, boots echoing on stone. “A rogue witch is everyone’s concern. You’re breaking protocol.” “She’s not rogue.” “Oh, so she’s tame? Is that what you’re calling her now?” I stopped walking. She blinked at my sudden stillness, thrown off. I didn’t look at her. Just stared straight ahead, jaw tight. “She hasn’t hurt anyone,” I said. Skylar snorted. “Yet.” I turned to face her. “What do you want, Sky? She hesitated for hal

Jeremy's POVThe knock came just after dawn.I was already up, pacing. Sleep hadn’t come—couldn’t, not with everything Skylar had said still clanging around in my skull like broken glass in a jar. I opened the door expecting Alex, maybe one of the night guards. It was Erin. She looked pale, nervous. “Alpha… you should check the cell.”I was moving before she finished the sentence. The corridor was colder than usual. Something in the air had shifted, something wrong. My boots echoed down the hallway like warning shots. When I reached the cell, Lisa was standing in the corner, tense, arms folded tightly across her chest. The tray of food lay overturned at her feet, its contents scattered.“What happened?” I asked. She didn’t look at me right away. “You tell me.”I glanced at the mess, then to her. “Did someone—”“Skylar,” she said. “She brought the food. It smelled… off.”I frowned. “Off how?”Lisa’s eyes narrowed. “Like nightshade. Or wolfsbane.”I stepped back, jaw tightening. “You su

Jeremy's POV He pondered as he raised a brow in surprise. He tried again, this time holding his breath for good measure. Still, nothing changed. There was no warm tingling sensation just like he had always read.Damn.He opened his eyes with a scowl—or, at least, as much of a scowl as a newborn could manage.Alright, maybe I’m too young for this, he reasoned. Most magical prodigies in stories had some incredible awakening at birth or a special blessing. Maybe he was just… normal. The thought left a sour taste in his mouth. With a sigh—more of a soft exhale—he relaxed against the blankets. He’d try again later. For now, he’d have to wait until he grew a little more.***The years passed, and Lucian grew.By the time he was four, he had learned a great deal about his new family and their status. The Vaelcrest household was one of noble lineage, their wealth and influence well-respected. His father, Duke Aldric Vaelcrest, was a powerful noble, known for both his swordsmanship and his co

Devon's POVBrows knit together in confusion as he recognized the familiar voice. He turned his head to see his one and only friend, Parker Jenkins, making his way towards them.Parker Jenkins, also around eighteen years of age, possessed a cheerful and lively disposition that lit up any room he entered. With an average height, Parker stood at around 5 feet 8 inches. His jovial nature was reflected in his warm, sparkling blue eyes that radiated a playful and inviting charm and his black hair was slightly tousled in a carefree manner just like Devon. Many thought that they were actually brothers.“What are you doing here?” Devon asked in confusion as he looked at the time, it was already five in the evening which was pretty late in their standard.Parker typically visited by this time only when Devon specifically invited him, hence the inquiry.Parker was caught off guard by the question, his expression reflecting surprise. Steph's POV “Haha! Is it all done?” A hefty man, his belly protruding, emerged from the 'staff-only' room.He had blood stains on his hand, and each finger had rings on them. His fat-ridden body moved slowly as he cleaned his bloodied hands with a rag and flung it to the side once he was done.“Oh, Leader? Did you kill that woman already?” One of the men who had secured both Alicia and Billy said with a somewhat disappointed face.“What do you think?” The fat man replied, a twisted grin on his faceThough he had cleaned his hands, stains of red still appeared in some areas.“I-I see… I shouldn’t have asked in the first place."In all honesty, this man—as well as the rest of his six comrades—wanted to have his way with her.He had been looking forward to enjoying the waitress for some time now.‘When we killed her Boss and took over this shop, I expected my time to come soon…’He felt frustrated that his Leader had done away with her already.“She intentionally tripped, that woman. MAGNUS POVWe drove through the open gate and into Kal Fang's territory. The place was even more desolate than I had imagined which was really saying something considering what we had witnessed on our way here. It gradually got better as we approached the castle though. If the scenery outside had been to intimidate, then these right here was to appeal to the sense of visitors and a showoff of wealth. Not that they had much of it compared to my kingdom judging from the decor. We finally reached the castle, which was a dark and imposing structure that looked like it had been built out of black stone. It was surrounded by a high wall and a moat filled with murky water at the right. It was a ghastly sight to behold the more I saw it. I could see guards patrolling the walls and the grounds, and they all looked like they were ready to kill at a moment's notice. We stopped the car in front of the castle entrance, and I got out. Luke and Bryce followed closely behind me. We walked up to the e

Anna’s POV“You need to be checked, Anna. We don’t know—”“No,” I cut him off, shaking my head. “We don’t know who we can trust.”Dorian clenched his jaw no doubt frustrated by my stubbornness but I wasn't going to back down.We were arguing once more about going to the hospital. I knew that he was right and I ought to but the facility had been relentless in hunting us down. We had no way of knowing who was still looking and who might recognize me. A simple doctor’s visit could be the mistake that led them straight to us.Instead, I focused on listening to my body, trusting what little instinct I had. The nausea came and went, and a strange sort of awareness settled in my bones. It wasn’t just me anymore.Dorian was torn. I saw it in the way his hands hovered near me, as if he wanted to shield me from everything but didn’t know how. He tightened security around us, changing our routines. No more walking the same routes, no more visits to the same markets or shops. He made sure the apa

Wesley's POV "Whatever. Sure, you would say that" I said in a doubtful tone." "Since you want Wesley that bad, you can have him"I stormed out of the house without waiting for her response. I felt heavy in my heart at what I had witnessed. "Stupid you" I kept on muttering to myself. This was part of the reason why I avoided relationships in general. Ever since my painful breakup with my first boyfriend, Tristan. I had altogether removed love from the picture whenever I was involved with someone. But like a dog, I had gone back to my vomit and was hurt again. It was all my fault for trusting him. "Suzy, are you alright" I looked up to see Marcus peering at me curiously. I had been so immersed in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed him on the road. "I'm alright" I said absentmindedly, holding back a sniffle. I didn't want to see or talk to anyone now because i might start crying. "No, you aren't. Walk with me" He said, holding out his hand. I was surprised at his friendly gesture.

Dorian's POV“Dorian, what’s this I hear about an announcement? A relationship with an employee?”I noticed myself counting to five silently before saying anything. As irritating as it is, I am only human and have to factor in the fact that there is a hierarchy that needs to be followed.I completely focused on the task at hand instead of the condescending tone that had come across. “Yes, as I’ve responded to the query raised by the employees in the office, I had to make it very clear in order for everyone to be on the same page and not create tension within the workplace.”“While I get what you are trying to say, there are some ethical issues and the risk of conflicting interests. The board will need reassurances.”“There is no project for which I oversee that has Anna working under its scope,” I said in a more commanding voice. “I suppose it is needless to say that her achievements are enough to justify her and that she does not need to do anything further.”Once again there was sil

Dorian's POV I stared uninterestedly at the runway as the plane shuddered to a stop, and the seatbelt sign dings off. I stood up, unbuckled and lurched forward, only to be stopped by the wall of bodies cramming the aisle and I was almost pushed over.I scowled deeply when people began yanking their bags from the overhead compartments like it was a race, the same way Americans did. It was everything different from what I thought Germany to be.Someone’s backpack swung dangerously close to my face and I ducked. I gripped the armrest, exhaling through my nose as I waited for the madness of the economy class to die down.I glanced at my phone—no signal yet. The flight attendant was smiling that tired, practiced smile, reminding us to be orderly. No one listened. The line inched forward, the guy ahead of me struggling with an overstuffed duffel. I shifted my weight impatiently, my carry-on wedged between my feet. The air was hotter and stuffier, like the plane itself was urging us to lea

Dorian's POV That night, as soon as we were alone in the hotel room, words became unnecessary as we rushed at each other. The tension and the raw emotions that had been simmering beneath my skin all burst free the moment I kissed her. Anna melted into me, her fingers threading through my hair as if afraid I would disappear.I wasn’t sure if this was real or some cruel illusion, but I didn’t care. She was warm, solid, alive—and that was all that mattered. We spent the night tangled together, whispering each other’s names and relearning the feel of one another’s bodies. Every touch was urgent, every kiss desperate, as if making up for lost time. And when exhaustion finally claimed us, I held her close, unwilling to let go even in sleep. The next morning, sunlight streamed through the sheer curtains, casting golden patterns on the bed. Anna stirred beside me, her bare skin warm against mine. I watched her face for a moment, memorizing the peaceful rise and fall of her breathing, the way
