When someone unexpectedly mentioned Isabella, Nathan suddenly realized that it had been days since Isabella last contacted him. Not a single text or voice message. Finally, he sensed something was off. As a werewolf, his instincts were usually sharp, but his preoccupation with Victoria had clouded his perception. After all, that girl had always been clingy. Even if they saw each other daily, whenever she couldn’t see him, she’d find all sorts of excuses to reach out—sharing her meals, reminding him to dress warmly, or asking him to come home early because she had a surprise for him. Back then, he found her relentless attention annoying. This kind of silence from Isabella was unusual. It seemed that forcing her to go abroad this time had genuinely angered her.

Even if she didn’t contact him, surely she would ask someone for her living expenses. Turning to his assistant, Nathan asked, "How’s my wife doing lately? Has she mentioned needing anything? Make sure her requests are met."

The assistant’s expression turned awkward. Stammering, he replied, "Mr. Hill, Madam... has been out of touch since she went abroad."

Nathan froze. "What’s going on with that girl? Could it be that she’s gotten carried away abroad and forgotten she has a family?"

The assistant’s expression was hard to describe. Didn’t Mr. Hill remember that the day Madam left, she discarded everything he bought for her, including the bank card he gave her?

Madison sneered as she added fuel to the fire: "Isn’t it possible that your obedient, docile little wife might want more than just the title of Mrs. Hill? Perhaps she wanted the love that comes with it, and since you couldn’t give her that, she left you behind."

Nathan didn’t seem to catch Madison’s sarcasm. Instead, he became lost in memories of the countless romantic moments Isabella had created for him. "She loves me too much to truly leave. She’s just playing hard to get. If I play along, I’ll have lost."

Madison couldn’t hold back her disdain: "Mr. Hill, if your heart belongs to Victoria, why not divorce Isabella and set her free?"

Victoria quickly came to his defense: "Madison, you don’t understand Isabella. What you see as poison—marrying someone who doesn’t love her—she might see as honey."

Madison retorted, "Miss Moore, you’re truly generous. Nathan carries the scent of his wife while dating you, and you’re not even jealous?"

Victoria smiled graciously: "If it were anyone else, I couldn’t tolerate it. But Isabella is my Sis. Besides, she saved my life by donating her kidney. If Nathan treats her well, I have no complaints. Besides—" She lifted her hand, revealing a ring: "This is a gift Nathan carefully chose for me. Unlike Isabella, whose gifts are picked by his assistant. I have his love and don’t need to covet the title of Mrs. Hill. I’m content."

To prove her magnanimity, Victoria even urged Nathan: "Nathan, you should bring Isabella back soon. I’m worried she might not adapt to being alone abroad."

Nathan nodded. "Alright."

Madison drained her brandy in one gulp, seething with anger.

In Milan, Isabella collapsed into bed after finishing work late at night, completely exhausted. Opening her phone, she saw the trending news Madison had sent her. The headlines were filled with Nathan and Victoria. Stories of Nathan escorting Victoria to and from the hospital, accompanying her to her favorite fashion shows, dining at upscale restaurants, and personally supporting her startup... In every photo, Nathan’s careful attentiveness and the way he looked at Victoria were undeniable. Their intimate photos flooded the headlines, with netizens eagerly shipping them as a couple and even urging them to marry soon. Nathan made no attempt to refute these rumors, ignoring them entirely.

Isabella’s heart remained calm. She swiftly replied to Madison: "I dislike this kind of article. Don’t send me any more."

Madison couldn’t resist asking, "Bella, are you really over Nathan?" Madison had a love - hate relationship with her best friend. Every time Isabella claimed she wanted to leave Nathan, she’d go running back to him the moment he sweet - talked her.

"My infatuation is fully cured. As for Nathan and Victoria, I never want to see them again. And don’t bring them up around me anymore."

Madison sighed, "Isabella, I hope you mean it this time."

Isabella didn’t respond.

After receiving her first month’s salary, Isabella saved most of it, leaving only a few hundred euros for urgent needs. She bought books and spent every spare moment studying. Burning the midnight oil, she absorbed inspiration from the fashion capital and made remarkable progress. Finally, her efforts paid off. Isabella was accepted into Milan’s top fashion academy to study design.

However, the moment she saw the tuition f*e, her dreams were nearly crushed. 8,000 euros per year? For other students, this was affordable, but for someone struggling to make ends meet, it was astronomical.

Sitting on the cold floor of her rental room, Isabella agonized over her dilemma all night. At dawn, she stood up slowly, opened her safe, and took out the platinum ring adorned with tiny pink diamonds that she had brought with her. It was the engagement ring Nathan had given her. She had kept it to remind herself never to forget those humiliating years. But now, she desperately needed money.

Clutching the ring, Isabella went to a jewelry pawn shop. The shop owner’s eyes lit up when he saw the ring. "Although the diamonds are small and the band is thin, it’s still a major brand. I’ll take it."

Small diamonds, thin band? Isabella’s lips curled into a bitter smile. This was only a free gift—a bonus Nathan had received when buying an extravagant present for Victoria. He had casually used it to propose to her.

"How much?"

"Four thousand euros," the shop owner offered.

"Deal," Isabella agreed immediately. With this money, plus her savings, she could cover the tuition. After receiving the cash, Isabella left without looking back.

Late at night, as Isabella walked toward her rental room, she crossed the dimly lit Milan Bridge. Suddenly, she heard faint, labored breathing. Her heart clenched, and she froze in place like a frightened bird. It took her a long time to calm down before she cautiously followed the sound. Behind one of the bridge supports, she found an injured young man. But when she saw his face clearly, she was utterly shocked. As a werewolf, she could sense a strange yet familiar energy around him, an energy that made her instincts flare up in a way she couldn't quite explain.

"Do you want to come with me?" she asked softly. Despite his tattered, dirty clothes, the boy exuded an air of elegance and nobility. Turning his head arrogantly, he asked, "What's your name?"Isabella hesitated briefly. "Thea," she said, concealing her true identity. The boy’s gaze darkened slightly. "What characters are those?""'Nian,' as in 'to remember,' and 'Sheng,' as in 'prosperity,'" she explained gently. The boy suddenly clutched her hand

Victoria quickly answered for him. “Oh, my Sis is abroad.”The doctor frowned. “Even though Mrs. Hill is the donor, her health cannot be neglected. Furthermore,” he continued, revealing a hidden concern, “the day she was discharged, I found her bed sheets and bedding stained with blood during my rounds. As a young werewolf, he could sense the intensity of Isabella's emotions. "Sis, I was wrong." Isabella’s voice trembled with frustration. "Theodore, I am willing to shield you from storms, but the world is vast, and not all storms can be blocked for you.
