STELLA'S POV: Tonight, everything feels different. I know my life is going to change from now on but I don't know if it's going to change for the better or for worse. I'm washing the dishes tonight and watching everyone move around. I have to mark everyone's faces and their duties and also know where they stand so I can strike. Touching my apron pocket, I feel the small bottle in it. It tilts over but I'm too distracted by whatever I'm doing to notice.. I'm the one washing dishes today and my colleague and partner, Tiana, didn't come today. She had called in sick and now, it was left to me to wash all the dishes. Tiffany is the head cook and she's taking out the last meal from the oven. I just hope she calls me tonight. The kitchen isn't as full as it used to be and that's because the King and his Luna are out for a dinner party. The Queen already asked everyone who has been working the whole week without a break to go on their break. Which makes it
ARYA'S POV: Tonight, there's a sense of happiness I and Asher share and that's because of Onyx. "He's warming up to her," Asher says as he starts with his salad dressing. "It's something I love to see," "He's not warmed up to her, yet," I disagree. "He just needs to be pushed a little. I don't think he's going to see all these till his eyes finally opens," "Did you see how beautiful Hazel looked tonight? I wonder how many men are going to see her and not look twice. Onyx is a fool," "Imagine being a beautiful woman with a good head at the same time. Why does he have to be so dumb?" "He's still not over Selah. He's in his prime. Men in their prime always make costly mistakes, Arya. I made stupid mistakes and my friends also did. But I'm glad I didn't make that mistake with the you," "You would have been miserable," I expected Asher to disagree but he nodded his head. "I was lucky to have met you. You were like godsent to me. I mean, I was just recov
ONYX'S POV: I had left her on the dance floor to get a breather in the bathroom. That was a dick move but I had to do it for my sake. She had looked at me so innocently that I started feeling guilty. I shouldn't have said something to her. That was me caring too much. It's all my mother's fault, fuck! If she hadn't made me buy that dress for her, I would have seen her in another light but she looks really beautiful tonight and irresistible, too. I needed to clear my head. The way she looked at me with warmth. I don't think any women who I've treated wrongly would look at me that way. Her strength made me feel like the weakest of men. How she could handle me abusing her. How she could speak to me with no atom of hate in her voice. It made me feel terrible. Sighing, I close my eyes. I don't want to make things right between us. I still hate her for coming into my life and making things worse. Heck, she doesn't even have a wolf and that alone is a shame.
HAZEL'S POV: I must be in a trance. Onyx is already looking really worried. What could have happened? Poisoned? Just then, I remember what the priest warned us about just this morning. Who knew their doom was near? I began to feel fidgety and my heart rate increased. No, they can't just die like that. Who would have the evil mind to poison them? They're good people. They're good to everyone around them! I can't think of anyone and if it's Selah who did it, I swear on my parent's grave, Onyx is going to bear the brunt of it. I don't care if it makes me insensitive or not. He was warned! Because of that woman, a lot of bad things have been happening. "Driver faster!" Onyx yells at the driver and soon, the Limousine is speeding across the lonely express road. "It's all your fault, Hazel," Onyx began. His lips were drawn in a thin line. "Whenever she asks me to do something good for you, something bad always happens. Ever since you came into our lives, nothing
ONYX'S POV: "Can you drive faster?!" I yell at the driver as he slows down when he gets to the gate. Hazel looks at me incredulously but she says nothing. I'm too distracted to even know why she's looking at me that way. Before the limo comes to a halt, I am already opening the door and jumping out of it. I don't even wait for Hazel. I begin running towards the palace doors. I just hope my parents are safe. Getting into the palace, everywhere is filled up with guards running about and a few ladies dressed like nurses. I grab one of the ladies by the arm and she looks at me with horror in her eyes and bows immediately. "Your majesty," "What's wrong? What has happened to my parents?" The nurse shakes her head. "I don't know the full details. From what I heard so far, they were both poisoned." I leave her immediately and search around for my Beta. Guetta has never been someone I've liked that much because I believed he didn't deserve to be my Beta. B
HAZEL'S POV: No way. We exchange eye contact and she shrugs. What does that mean? She did it? Or she had no option? Or she didn't do it and was caught? Onyx on the other hand was looking at her. He didn't say anything at first and for a moment, I wished I could defend her. I wished I could find some evidence that it wasn't her. But I knew I couldn't. Not at this moment. "How did you find out she was the one?" Tiffany, the cook immediately jumped in. "The bottle was found in her pocket! The guard found it!" "You only speak when I ask you to speak. You will keep quiet, do you get that?" Tiffany immediately steps back and bows her head. There's another lady standing beside her. One I don't recognize. She's eerily quiet and when I look at her, something doesn't feel right. Not her stance and body language. I wish I could have told Onyx this but he's too angry and might get me embarrassed which I am absolutely trying to avoid. My eyes darted to th
HAZEL'S POV: I was still standing with a guard when the Priest's presence was announced with the thud of his staff. He is a feared man and no one dares disrespect him as he has great powers. Something about his presence makes me feel at peace. At least I know that there would be a solution. One of the guards rushes to him and bows. "My Lord," "Where are they?!" He thundered. "In their chambers, undergoing treatment," The guard replies. "Take me to them," I am about to follow the priest when his eyes land on me. I feel my breath hitch. I know I haven't done anything wrong but the way he looks at me makes me quite afraid like he wants to tell me something. "You're Onyx's Luna?" He asks in his commanding tone and I nod. "Don't let her consume you. She's going to try to do so," "Who?" "That's left for you to find out, young one," He says and continues climbing up the staircase. I'm still confused when Teresa comes down the staircase. My eyes
ONYX'S POV: In less than twenty minutes, the vehicle that will be taking them to the temple is ready. I followed after the priest, wanting to get more information from him. "For how long will they be with you?" "For as long as they recover. When the culprit has been found, we can have that conversation." I sighed. Why was the priest acting in this manner? The man used to be nice to him as a little boy but now, he had become stricter for no reason. "Make sure you find the culprit. And they must be executed. We can't have people concocting dangerous poisons and giving it to innocent people," When we got outside the gates, the vehicle was ready and my parents were placed into the limousine I had ordered for them to be carried in. It was spacious enough for them both to lay on the chairs and as the Priest alighted into the car, I watched them drive out of the palace. "What the hell is happening? When does this ever end?" I say to myself. This is the most c
