Adeena's P.O.V
A lot of voices were heard coming from downstairs as I exit my room, I haven't slept one bit since I came back from shopping with Valerie two days ago.
I don't know why body won't allow me to sleep, maybe because I wasn't sleeping in that big comfortable bed down the hall, I kind of knew it was Kalan's room but he had the most amazing bed, and the pillows were so huge and soft.
He hasn't said anything about me sleeping there the other night.
I wonder where he slept that night.
I slept peacefully, it was the best sleep I had in years, literally in years. It was as if I was missing something and I finally found it.
Just pure blissful sleeping all night long, wrapped under warm covers and hugging pillows, yeah, I could sleep there again.
I walk into the living room not expecting an entire pack meeting going on. Everyone was talking all at once, Isaac was trying to calm them down and Kalan was nowhere in sight.
"What's all the commotion?" I ask in a low voice.
Wolves, they're all wolves so they heard me.
All different set of eyes turned to look at me, I fidget with my shirt as the boys all gazed at me. It wasn't uncomfortable, I always got this kind of reaction whenever I go anywhere.
"Luna" Isaac acknowledged nodding and motioning me over to him.
I walk carefully through the crowd, I counted 20 guys here. Reminded me of my little incident where some tried to harass me, luckily this time I was dressed in something more fitting.
A loose grey shirt and a pair of blue jeans, there was nothing for me to do around here. Kalan hasn't spoken to me in two days, I haven't slept, I don't know what's going on anywhere, I haven't even been introduced to any as their Luna.
I think there's a ritual for that here, or I have to transform first, I'll have to ask.
"What's going on, where's Kalan?" I ask once I'm by Isaac's side.
"He's gone out to a meeting at the Golden Paw Pack, he won't be back until tonight" he explains before taking a deep breath, "these guys are border patrol wolves, Kalan was supposed to have a meeting with them but he had important matters to attend to" he sighs.
"Oh, well don't you know what to say?" I ask looking around the room.
It grew rather quiet since I was acknowledged, they were somehow attentive now.
"I already said what he told me, but they're just being the little mutts they are and causing a ruckus" he mutters glaring around the room.
"I see", talk about being brats. "Who's the leader?" I ask the group.
"I am" a brown haired one said rather cocky with a distained look on his face and raising his hand.
He definitely looked like the leader, he had on a full black outfit, with so many pockets, he wore a dog tag chain around his neck and combat boots. He was dressed a little different from the others, the others had on the same outfit but there's were grey.
He looked so cocky, like he's too far up on his high horse to take orders from anyone.
"I'm sure you address your Alpha with respect, as the same respect I'm due, is that correct?" I asked, standing my ground.
"But you're not the Alpha, he's not introduced you yet, therefore I will answer however I please" he replies.
The others chuckled at him and I turn to look at Isaac. He shook his head in disappointment but doesn't say anything.
"I see", was all I said nodding and looking around the room.
I raised my hand up to him and curled my fingers into a choke hold in the air, his eyes go wide and he starts to scratch at his throat trying to breathe. The others started to move around in fright, they all stared at me in both horror and confusion.
The gasping filled the room as he went down onto his knees, water running from his eyes and his throat now scratched from his constant clawing.
"Look, I don't know what kind of advantages you take when your Alpha is not here, but Isaac is your superior and whenever Kalan is not around he is in charge, I don't care what position you hold but it can be stripped, I'm guessing he's a little bit too quiet so you all think it's fine to walk over him but I assure you, he deserves as much respect as your Alpha" I say putting more force into the hold.
He was almost passed out but I stopped and calmed down, the others took another step away from him and shuffled around.
"Now, apologize" I say to them. "And address him as his title" I order.
"We're sorry Beta Isaac" they all say in sync, except from the one coughing on the floor.
"Good, now get to your respective residences" I say motioning out.
Yawning, I walk into the kitchen to find something to eat. I haven't eaten in two days, I'm not used to this lifestyle yet, I've never woken and my food wasn't prepared, but I will have to start doing it myself.
I knew how to cook, I just was never allowed inside the kitchen at the palace.
"Thank you", came Isaac's voice from behind me.
I jumped back a little bit startled, I wasn't expecting him to come in here. I turn to look at him with a small smile.
"No problem, you really shouldn't allow them to take advantage of you like that" I say.
I watch his face go into a frown and I could sense that he was now feeling ashamed.
"I know, but it's not my fault, I told Kalan I didn't want to be his Beta because I'm not so intimidating as he is" he sighs taking a seat by the island.
I take a good look at him, he's literally the most adorable thing I've seen. I finally get to see him clearly after a few days, he had a nice body frame but he was slim, didn't have a high chest but he had a perfect jawline and the prettiest green eyes.
"It's because we've been best friends for so long and he always wanted me by his side", oh boy, I'm hungry and he's telling me a sad story.
"That guy, he used to bully you?" I ask him.
"Yep, Collin Hill, he still does when he gets the chance to", poor guy. "It was fun watching you choke him, I didn't know you had powers" he says with a smile.
"Uhh, yeah" I answer, "but you're the Beta, you can push him around and bully him all you want, I'm sure Kalan won't care".
"He won't, but it's not in me", okay, he's getting on my nerves now.
"Look, I don't normally do what I did in there but I could tell he wasn't a nice guy, I made the first move for you, now treat him like your pet" I shrugged, "make me food now, I'm hungry".
"Okay" he laughs getting up and going around to the cupboards.
Kalan needs to train his pups better, I've never done that to anyone before and I don't want to hurt anyone intentionally, I felt threatened and I could tell Isaac had no power so I stepped in to teach a lesson.
He might not learn today but he will, he will.
Adeena's P.O.VI didn't think I'd be tiptoeing into a guy's room. But here I am, tiptoeing down the hallway and to Kalan's room.I didn't hear him come home, I'm guessing he's still out and about. Isaac and the girls were still downstairs watching movies on that thingy they call a television, I've honestly never seen one up close, I've heard about them but never seen one.My parents are very strict and high classed people, we don't have those in the Moon Kingdom, I'd be surprised if we finally moved into life of modern technology. Not that we don't have a few modern items, but we don't have gadgets such as the phone, laptop, television, none of those.Just books, a never ending library of books, and if that wasn't eno
Adeena's P.O.V"I have been calling you all day!" Valerie panics, walking into the room.I was seated on the floor, with a candle lit and my journal in hand. She paused and looked around curiously before closing the door and walking closer to me."I haven't really mastered the art of using your kind of technology" I answer putting my journal down and closing it."Whole point of me buying it for you, so you can learn" she exasperated throwing herself down onto my bed. "What're you doing anyway, what kind of spell are you working on?" she mumbles. She kind of saw me levitating a piece of bread over to me once, I had to explain my abilities and she suprisingly took it w
Adeena's P.O.V"What are you doing here?" Noah asks upon seeing me inside the palace library.I might have sneeked in using the vines from my garden, I didn't want to risk my parents seeing me come in. I'm not supposed to be back here, especially without consent. But I needed to know what was going on with Kalan, I needed to know what was going in inside his head.At some times, he can be quiet and just give me eyes and other times he's mean, he keeps threatening to reject me, not that I would necessarily care, there's a lot that I could do without the burden of taking care of him or his pack."Looking for something" I answer closing another book and putting it back onto the shelf.
Kalan's P.O.V"The full moon comes up tonight, and there's no sign of Adeena" Isaac announced, walking into my office."I know" I sighed leaning back into the chair. "I can't even get a sniff of her anywhere other than inside her room" I tell him.I feel bad about what I said to her, I shouldn't have said it but that's what happens when I've been perplexed, I take it out on anyone I can and Adeena just happens to upset me for no reason.I don't mean to lash out on the one's around me but it happens and then I have to face the consequences. When Adeena said I wasn't worth it, that was the first time I felt genuine hurt in a long time, I never want her to think I'm not worth it.
Adeena's P.O.VI really thought everything would be fine by the time I woke up in the morning, but it wasn't.Noah tried her best to help me sleep longer but it didn't work, so now I'm on the floor again, crying and groaning in pain. How could my own mother do this to me?.And Kalan was supposed to teach me everything but he's always busy doing something. He was supposed to tell me what I should expect, rather, what I should prepare for.I couldn't do this on my own, and my sisters don't know what to do either. They're both just inside my room looking at me, in hopes that everything will be over soon.
Adeena's P.O.VThe smell of bacon woke me from my sleep, my stomach instantly growled in hunger and I open my eyes slowly.I was met with a very high and dark ceiling, confused, I tried to sit up but a sharp pain in my head humbled my actions.Wincing, I held my head and tried again. This time, I was successful, I sat up and ran my fingers through my hair, it was tangled, felt like it was in its worst state.Fingers.Hair.I'm me again. To make sure my theory was correct, I looked down at my body, I was met with an oversized sweatshirt and some shorts covering me.
Adeena's P.O.V"I'm so happy you're okay!" Lauren gushed when Kalan finally put down. The soft couch welcomed me so comfortably, I almost sighed, this was the first place I sat when I first arrived here.Of course I would feel welcomed when I sit here."Where were you?" Lauren asks, taking a seat close to me.Silence.I just stared at her, I wasn't this quiet when I was with Fate. So why was I so quiet now?.I felt lost in this moment, it felt as though everything that had happened finally took its toll on me. The moment I saw Kalan,
Adeena's P.O.VI turn the shower off and pulled back the glass door to grab a towel. My shower was longer than I thought, I felt lost in there, trying to remember what exactly happened over these past few days.My memory was all mixed up, no matter how hard it tried it was no use, it's as if my mind was refusing to show me what happened.Or rather, what I did.Wrapping my body in the towel, I sighed walking to the mirror. I use my hand to wipe the steamy glass to see my reflection. I haven't seen what I looked like since the shift, as they said, I've been gone for three days, a lot could happen in that time. But, instead of my usual reflection
Adeena's P.O.VThe feeling of a warm cloth being placed on my forehead woke me up. My eyes opened slowly and I heave a sigh, taking in my surroundings carefully.I felt sick to my stomach as I lay there still trying to process everything that had happened."Luna" Alison's voice sounds from next to me. "You're awake" she says in relief."What happened?" I questioned turning my head to look at her.Her face held pure relief as she removed the cloth from my forehead to answer my question. Alison and I aren't really friends but she's always here, I think I can consider her my friend."I'm not sure, you blacked out three hours ago in hallway" she replies."Where's Kalan?""He went to get Collin, said he'll be back soon"Collin, why would he-......Collin!.Oh no, I hope he's okay.I had no idea we were that deeply connected to the point I could see and feel what he was going through, I'm not sure exactly what it was but I know it was nothing good.Alison helped me out of bed and to the bat
Adeena's P.O.V"Isaac, have you seen Kalan?" I ask walking outside of the house.I haven't been outside in a few days due to my personal issues, I haven't seen Kalan in two days. I guess I should be used to him going missing once in a while but I'm not.I always want to know where he is.What if something happens to him?.I can die also."He's gone to Lauren's school, she had a small presentation today" Isaac replies after realizing I was the one who asked him the question. He was standing outside talking to some men, who looked as though they were warrior wolves, but also looked peaceful. You can tell the ones who are rebellious and the ones who aren't.The ones back at our other pack were obviously rebellious, but Kalan treated them as he treated Isaac."Why didn't he tell me?" I ask staring off into the distance."He'll be back in an hour, come here and I want you to meet someone" he replies beckoning for me to come down to him.I stand next to Isaac, watching the men as they bowed
Kalan's P.O.VMy alarm finally starts going off, I've been laying here wide awake just waiting for it. I don't have anything important planned for the day, I can just stay with Adeena, we'll be home alone anyway.I turn the alarm off and sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes to rid the tiredness. Ever since yesterday I've felt drained, as before there was a pull on my emotions, Adeena was the only reason I felt this way, she hasn't even woken up since she fell asleep on me.Now she was sound asleep on my pillow, we shared one pillow, I couldn't move her away from me in fear she might wake up, I was actually more comfortable than tired when laying so close to her.'Kal, are you up?'Confused, I turn to look at Adeena, she was still sleeping. How is she mind linking me when she's asleep and how did she know how to do that?.'I'm up, what's wrong?''I'm hungry'"Really Adeena, you couldn't open your eyes to tell me that?" I ask in disbelief.'I'm still sleeping remember'"What should I make?",
Kalan's P.O.VThe rain continues to shower down, trapping us inside the house for just a few hours. I woke up to the light patters on the roof and didn't think much of it, then Adeena woken up and showers came down, literally just as she woke up it started raining harder. It made some sense, she woke up in a very irritated mood, she was meaner than usual. This morning I said she looked tired and she threw a pillow at me, with so much force I wasn't even able to dodge it, it's been two hours and I haven't spoken to her."Where's Adeena?" Isaac asks concerned, looking around the room.He came over earlier than expected for me to help with some papers, I didn't mind because I could use the distraction."Upstairs" I answer monotonously, leaving no room for anymore questions but he just had to ask me something else."Didn't you make her breakfast?" he asks seeing that the kitchen was cleaned."Oh, she's not hungry" I shrugged off. "She hasn't been feeling herself lately"."She's not pregn
Adeena's P.O.V"Why is this place so full of life?" I ask Isaac once we arrived to the pack house in the Crescent Moon pack."No idea, honestly the Alpha is way more preferred here" he answers with a shrug.I take his answer with a nod, we arrived at the pack in just four hours, I was not expecting the place to be so full of life and laughter. Everyone we had driven by was overjoyed to see Kalan, even if they couldn't see inside the car as I was informed earlier. They were very happy to see him.The pack house was different from the Nexus pack, it was just in the pack, it blended in perfectly, except it was a lot bigger than most of the other houses. I've never seen a place so lively before.
Kalan's P.O.VI have been listening to my mother insulting Adeena for almost an hour, I don't know how she found out what happened but she did. All she's been telling me is to get rid of her, I try not to disrespect my Mom, but sometimes she doesn't know when to quit."I bet if she knew just who she was insulting, she would shut up" Isaac snorts."That's why I don't bother saying anything, let her dig her own grave and later she will be the one to lay in it" I respond watching as my Mom and Valerie started to argue about her choice of words and her ridiculous statements."I might have some bad news" Isaac says so casually, making me look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah, our little prisoner died"
Adeena's P.O.VAll I could hear was my heart, thudding against my chest as I tried to stay hidden behind a tree. Had I not followed my own mind and went out to see the pack, I wouldn't have gotten caught up in this mess. The man had shifted into a wolf right before my eyes and started to chase me, at first I stood there in shock before I really understood what was happening.Everyone seemed to mind their own business when he started to chase after me, how selfless of them. It's like they didn't even care that I could die if he catches up to me.I ran as far as I could then I went into the woods, not without getting caught by some thorns, ripping the sleeve of my hoodie, scratching my arm
Adeena's P.O.V"What're you doing?" I ask Lauren, seeing her with a couple of books open along with some papers. She was seated on floor, cross legged with her head propped up by her hands. I'm guessing it was past midnight, she was inside her room for the entire day, I haven't seen her at all yesterday."Oh" Lauren says in a bit of shock, "I have a test tomorrow, so I'm hitting the books" she fake cheers."Oh, may I ask what kind of test?" I ask confused, don't get me wrong, I still have little idea about what they do here."History and Geography" she replies passing me a piece of paper with a few others attached to it, I take it slowly to ins
Adeena's P.O.VWhy did I think Kalan's mother would be gone by morning?.She was in fact, inside the kitchen at this current moment, by the stove doing who knows what. I walked in thinking it would be Isaac making breakfast but it wasn't.My usual bacon and eggs was replaced with something else, something I wasn't used to and definitely something I wouldn't try.I will tolerate her for as long as I need to, while trying my best not to slice her head off with a snap of my fingers."Hey" Kalan chimes behind me, wrapping his arms around me and kissing my cheek. "How do you feel?" he asks resting his chin on my shoulder.
