CHAPTER NINE

2024-10-29 19:42:56“Mate?” I whispered while he still held me closed to him. I wanted to ask what did he mean by mate? I have read a few novels and if they were all true, mate meant soulmates. Was it true? Was he my soulmate? I could still feel the tingles all over my body and the heat that embraced me when he was close. My wide eyes searched his for answers but his eyes only showed rage. I discovered that he didn’t like me being his mate but it was not my fault or was it?
“Talon,” called someone. Our necks snapped to our side where a man stood at the door of the room. I recognized him as one of the men from the dining table. Talon jerked me away from him once he saw the man and beside her stood Aurora who gaped at both of us. I inhaled a few breaths and stepped back from him. My hand went to my chest and I felt my heart bouncing inside. I heard feet shuffles and Aurora was beside me with her hand on my shoulder.

TALON'S POV It was stupid of me to stand here. I couldn’t remember for how long I stood outside this door, listening to her breathing. She was asleep. For the first time, I was hesitant to open the door of my own house. Guess there’s always a first for everything. I was drinking earlier and then I was back here again. It was as if my legs were working on their own. I released a frustrated sigh and opened the door. It was dark inside but I could see her still figure on the bed.
