The first thought that came into my mind was that he was crazy. Mate? What did he mean by mate.
“What?” I breathed out and looked at him with my eyebrows creased. “What are you taking about? Mate?” I said and continued, “look I don’t know what you’re talking but please let me go,” I pleaded while he silently watched me. “I promise I won’t tell anyone about this,” I said as my chest heaved up and down. My hair was glued to my forehead as I was sweaty and scared. All I wanted was to leave this place. I wanted to go home and to take a shower and sleep. I was now regretting ever going to that club. I should’ve called Emily at my home, at least then I would never be here. My eyes leaked with tears. I looked terrible and vulnerable, and I hated myself for being like that. I was never the one to cower down from anyone then why him? What was with him that scared me? His hold on my hair tightened and I grunted.“Tell me or I will kill you,” he threatened and I believed him.“I’m telling you the truth. I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I stated in my desperate attempts to make him believe in me. Something flickered in his eyes but it was gone within a second before I could have even guessed what it was. He released a breath while I held mine. Was he going to kill me? Was I going to die today? I inhaled when he backed away from me, a sudden relief flooded through me. Was he going to let me go?My relief went out of the window when I noticed him pulling out something from his pocket. I stopped breathing and terror dwindled in me, he reached to me with an injection in his hand.“No,” I voiced. I wanted to run away but my hands were tied. I squirmed in my place.“No, no, please. Don’t do this please, just let me go,” I pleaded to him but he ignored me and pointed the injection on my left arm. I was wiggling in his holds and my eyes were brimming with tears. I groaned as I felt the sharp pain in my arm. He did it and at that very moment, I hated him for this with all my might. My head started to spin and my eyelids began to feel heavy. Before the darkness crept around me, I saw his face which was still void of any emotion. I was going to die that was the last thing I thought.~~~~~
I peeled open my eyes and stared at the unfamiliar white ceiling. I sat straight and checked my surrounding. I was on the bed. It was a big room which was decorated similar to my own. There was a nightstand beside the bed and at the left side of the room was a comfy-looking couch. A big bookshelf was placed beside the couch. I jumped out of the bed and padded my way to the door. I grabbed the doorknob and twisted it but it was locked. I sighed, even though I expected it to be locked, I was still disappointed.Taking a deep breath, I pounced on the door and shouted, “Open the door. Let me out.” I knew I was calling for danger but still, I couldn’t just sit here and wait for that man to bring my fate. I needed to get back home. I was so screwed up. I had to go to the company and had to attend meetings with the clients. I wanted to slam my head into the wall for thinking about the company instead of getting out of here alive. I heard that someone was outside and immediately backed away from the door.I searched the room for anything that could help me escape and then decided to just grab a book from the bookshelf. I quickly pulled out a first book that touched my finger and stepped just beside the door with the plan to hit anyone who enters the room from behind and take a run for it. I swallowed and waited. The door opened and someone stepped inside, I recognized the back of the man and within a second made my move. I was about to hit him from behind but before I could, with some inhumane speed, he turned around and grabbed my arm with one hand, and pushed me to the wall with another.I was awed by his speed but groaned when my back hit the hard surface of the wall. I was frustrated at my failure and at his incredibility of knowing my ridiculous move. I should’ve planned something more promising.“Let me go,” I gritted out. I was not scared of him anymore instead annoyed by him. Who the hell he was? And why was he doing this to me?“Won’t you let go?” I repeated and clenched my teeth. He had placed both of my hands on the wall on each side of my face and was burning holes in me with his piercing gaze. I struggled to get free from him but he was stronger than me.“I said let me go, you asshole,” I spoke. It was not me; it was my anger speaking and I knew I was pushing my luck. I was breathing hot. My body was touching his and I didn’t know why I felt tingles all over my body and I didn’t like that even a bit. While I was trying to ignore the tingles and his closeness, I heard a loud growl. The thing that scared me the most was that the growl came from his mouth and I felt his grip on me tightened. I felt a sharp pain in my hand and I looked to my side.
I noticed that his nails were digging in my flash but what shocked me to my core was that his hands were no longer hands but claws. And I did what a normal human would’ve done, I screamed.I screamed so loud that I knew everyone within one kilometer must have heard me but no one came to help me as if none listened to my scream. Where was I?“SHUT UP,” he ordered but didn’t stop. I was scared as hell. The man in front of me was not human. I was sure of it. He released my hand only to place it on my mouth, muffling my screams. I squirmed in his hold, wanting nothing but to get away from him as far as I could. I still felt the tingles and his eyes again changed their color. It again went black instead of amber and I was about to pee myself. “Shut up or I’ll kill you,” he threatened. I quietened my scream and stared at him with my eyes wide as a saucer. My chest heaved and the vein thumped in my throat. My breath was hitched and my heart was hastily beating inside my chest. When he noticed that I was silent, he slowly, very slowly removed his hand from my mouth. I stayed rooted to my spot and didn’t move eve
I sat on the couch as the girl treated my arm. In the meantime, I had asked the girl her name, Aurora was her response. I watched as she focused her mind on my wound. Her touch was gentle on my arm as she wrapped the bandage around my injury.“Done,” she said and finally looked at me. Her blue eyes shone and she passed me a smile. It was reassuring and for a moment I forgot that I was kidnapped by a jerk.“You should clean up,” she spoke again as her eyes went to my body. I craned my neck and looked at myself. I was still in my office attire that was dirty and worn out while my hair was tattered all around my shoulder but I didn’t care about that. All I wanted was to go home.“Freshen up and I’ll take you downstairs,” she said. I was taken aback.“You will?” I said, surprisingly.“Yes, we can have dinner together,” came her simple response while I clenched my teeth together. Ho
“Rose,” the voice echoed. I didn’t open my eyes and stayed rooted to the ground waiting for the beast to attack. “Rose,” the voice again called for me. I knew I recognized the voice but I couldn’t put a name to it. Someone jerked my body and my eyes flew open. I sharply looked to my side where Aurora stood and watched me. Her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes filled with worry. Realizing my fingers were still brushing the painting, I immediately backed away from it. It was weird. I could still hear my heart pounding. I took a glance at the painting and my eyebrows wrinkled together. I was about to die a few seconds ago but how did that happen? Was I just dreaming? “What…what happened?” I whispered to her; my eyes still fixed at the painting. I could still see the girl who laid on the ground with the beast hovering over her. The beast. Those golden eyes. I felt chills and I trembled in fear. Aurora didn’t answer me but she didn’t even ask what happened t
Werewolves. Shifter. Werewolves. Shifter. Those two words continued to buzz in my head and I felt a sudden headache. Werewolves? My eyes had widened and my stomach twisted into knots. Shifters? The way he spoke, I knew he was not lying. Werewolves. I was terrified. My heart dropped, and I backed away from the dining table. My hands trembled. I recalled those golden eyes of the beast when I touched the painting. Was one of these people was that beast? “Rose,” Aurora called as she stood from her chair. In my fear, I had taken several steps away from them. I looked at her but with totally different eyes. She could turn into a werewolf. I didn’t think twice before I ran outside the dining room. The last thing I heard was Aurora saying, ‘you shouldn’t have told her just yet’. I forced my feet to run faster, away from them. I was back in the hallway where all the paintings hung, but I ignored them and ran straight. When I passed the hallway, I stopped and looked everywhere for an
“Mate?” I whispered while he still held me closed to him. I wanted to ask what did he mean by mate? I have read a few novels and if they were all true, mate meant soulmates. Was it true? Was he my soulmate? I could still feel the tingles all over my body and the heat that embraced me when he was close. My wide eyes searched his for answers but his eyes only showed rage. I discovered that he didn’t like me being his mate but it was not my fault or was it?“Talon,” called someone. Our necks snapped to our side where a man stood at the door of the room. I recognized him as one of the men from the dining table. Talon jerked me away from him once he saw the man and beside her stood Aurora who gaped at both of us. I inhaled a few breaths and stepped back from him. My hand went to my chest and I felt my heart bouncing inside. I heard feet shuffles and Aurora was beside me with her hand on my shoulder.“Are you okay, Rose?” she asked.
It was dark. It was empty. My eyes wandered everywhere only to find darkness and nothing else. I felt goosebumps prickle all around my body. Thud. I jumped as the voice came from my left. With my eyes wide, I stayed rooted to my spot and felt a gust, sending chills to my body but it was not the wind. I noticed the shadow of the figure that ran past me, faster than any human being. Another terrifying sound echoed in my ears and I was about to pee in my short shorts. Growls. I didn’t need to second guess what it was. I gulped and forced my legs to move but they didn’t. My heartbeat accelerated and my knees started trembling beneath me. I tried to move my legs but it was as if they were glued to the ground. I slapped my knees and tucked at them to move but they didn’t budge. I heard the running of footsteps, coming towards me. Approaching me faster than I would’ve liked. I furiously looked around, searching for anything that could help me but the
TALON'S POV She was going to jump. She was going to jump.’ ‘She didn’t. I saved her,’ My wolf was still startled from the little incident. I could still feel the vibration it was sending directly to my brain. ‘What if she had jumped? How could you lead her to do something like that?’ he said and I could sense the fear in his voice. My wolf wasn’t afraid of anything. But the moment I had laid my eyes on Rose, it had been clear that she was my Mate. But how? Didn’t she die that day? Bleeding. Is it another trick of the Moon Goddess to punish me? ‘I didn’t force her. It was for her own good,’ I spoke and felt him shake his head in disapproval. Either way, I had to tell her. So, what was the point in hiding? And I was not going to believe it just yet. It must be a trick. It must be him. That bloody Rico Mooney. ‘It’s him. She ain’t real. That Mooney is trying to fool us again!’ ‘He’s a maniac but he has no power over mates,’ my wolf barked angrily. Fuck. I paced in my room. The image o
TALON'S POV It was stupid of me to stand here. I couldn’t remember for how long I stood outside this door, listening to her breathing. She was asleep. For the first time, I was hesitant to open the door of my own house. Guess there’s always a first for everything. I was drinking earlier and then I was back here again. It was as if my legs were working on their own. I released a frustrated sigh and opened the door. It was dark inside but I could see her still figure on the bed. As I approached her, her scent embraced my nostrils. It was so strong and so tempting. My fingers folded into fists, controlling my urge to hug her. This was how the bond between the mates worked. You would have the continuous urge to be closer to your mate. I wanted nothing but to touch her and kiss her plump lips. I wanted to rip that dress off her and claim her. She looked so beautiful in the dim moonlight. You shouldn’t feel these things. Not towards her. ‘You can’t control it. Just claim her as yours,’ my
ROSE’S POV I stirred from my sleep when I heard knocks on my door. Someone entered my room before I could open my eyes. “GOOD MORNING!” a very bubbly voice cheered which forced me to sit straight on my bed. I rubbed my eyes which ached from crying in the night. A girl paced towards the window and opened the curtains. She stepped closer to my bed and then faced me. A bright smile glued to her face. Her eyes shone in the sunlight from the window. She was my height with curls bouncing on her shoulder. I blinked and she did the same. “Mor..ning...,” I said rather awkwardly, displaying my clenched teeth which made her giggle. “I’m your assigned maiden. And you have only twenty minutes to get ready for breakfast,” she spoke and at the same time my stomach growled. I embarrassingly placed my hands on my tummy which made her glance downwards. I was still dazed from the last night. Why did I dream of that beast again? Those golden eyes, ready to kill me. I shivered. That dream felt all too
