Time was moving fast but the results of the search were almost futile. Each lead led to a dead end. Just hours after Alpha Enzo had left, Alpha Damien's phone rang, breaking through the silence of the room. Damien quickly grabbed it, recognizing Enzo’s number.

“Damien,” Enzo’s voice came through, “We’ve found someone.”

Damien’s heart skipped a beat, his breath catching in his throat. "Who?" he asked, his voice betraying his hope and fear.

“It’s a young girl, about ten years old. We’re bringing her to your pack for identification," Enzo replied.

Damien’s pulse quickened. "Is it Kayla?" His voice was barely above a whisper, filled with both desperate hope and dread.

“She’s not dead, Damien," Enzo continued, "but barely alive. We’re not sure who she is yet, but my men will be there soon. Be ready."
