Victor sat in his hotel room with his phone clenched tightly in his hand, his brow starting to perspire. He had narrowly escaped Alpha Damien’s men, thanks to a last-minute tip-off that had come just in time. Breathing heavily, he dialed a number, glancing nervously at the door, as though expecting someone to burst through at any moment.

The phone rang twice before a voice answered on the other end—calm, collected, and disturbingly arrogant.

“I made it out,” Victor said, his voice barely above a whisper. “Your call saved me. Alpha Damien’s men were closing in, but I managed to slip away. How did you know?”

The voice on the other end remained cool, unbothered. “I know a lot of things, Victor. I told you I’d keep you one step ahead. Now, what’s your next move?”

Victor frowned, pacing back and forth across the room. “I’ve been hiding out here, but I can’t stay much longer. It’s only a matter of time before they track me down. I need to know what you’re planning. You promised me control
