Alpha Damien felt as if everything was spiraling around him. Chris being in a coma was a blow that hit harder than he had anticipated. Chris had been his confidant, his right-hand man, and a crucial part of managing the pack's affairs. The idea of losing him was terrifying, a fear that nagged at him, even though Chris was showing signs of recovery.

His dilemma wasn't unfounded, he had yet to see or speak to Stephanie since the incident. He didn't have her contact information, and their few encounters over the past nine years had been brief and strained. They hadn't exchanged more than a few words since reconnecting a few months back, and there was no opportunity for him to get her number. He was concerned she might think he had abandoned her again after promising to visit.

Remembering that Stephanie's father had called him to the hospital, Damien checked his call list and found the number. He hesitated for a moment, then dialed. The call went unanswered after two rings, and he assumed

Kayla burst through the door, bubbling with excitement. "Mom, guess what! I made a new friend at school, and she invited me to her birthday party!" she exclaimed, her eyes bright with joy. But her enthusiasm quickly faded as she took in the scene before her. A boy was sitting on her mother's lap and a man she didn't recognize standing with Grandpa.Hank noticed Kayla's sudden hesitation and smiled warmly. "Come here, Kayla," he signaled to her. She ran over and settled beside him, her eyes never leaving the strangers.Alpha Damien felt a pang in his chest at the sight of Kayla's guarded expression. So he decided to speak to her and not wait to be introduced "Hello, Kayla," he greeted gently, his tone warm and friendly. She had Stephanie’s eyes, those same deep, searching eyes, and the resemblance between her and Caleb was unmistakable, though she was slightly smaller."Hi," Kayla responded warily, her gaze shifting between him and the boy in her mother's lap. "Mom, why is there a boy

As they drove back to the pack's territory, Alpha Damien glanced at his son, curious about his thoughts on the day's events. "What do you think?" he asked, his eyes on his son.Caleb turned to him, tilting his head in thought. "Think about what?""About everything," Alpha Damien clarified. "Meeting your grandfather, your sister, and your mother." He noticed Caleb's face light up with a smile at the mention of his mother."I think it's cool to have more family," Caleb said, grinning. "I love Mum, especially. She seems kind and very emotional. I've never seen anyone cry as much as she did.""She cried because she thought you were gone," Alpha Damien explained gently. "And seeing you for the first time was overwhelming for her."Caleb nodded thoughtfully. "You're right, Dad.""And what about your sister, Kayla? What do you think of her?"Caleb shrugged, a hint of uncertainty in his expression. "She seemed a bit mean, but I think she was just being protective of Mum. I feel like we'll get

Alpha Damien left the kitchen and made his way to his father's chamber, where Chris was still receiving treatment. The room was quiet, save for the soft hum of the medical equipment monitoring his condition. He sat down beside the bed, taking in the sight of his friend's still form. Chris's burn marks were healing, and his breathing had become less labored compared to the first days after the incident. He reached out, gently placing his hand over Chris's. “Hey friend," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "I took Caleb to meet Stephanie today." He paused, searching for any sign of recognition on his face. "He also met his sister, Kayla."Damien chuckled softly, amusement and worry in his tone. "Kayla... she's got this fire in her, you know? Reminds me a lot of myself. I think she might hate me, though," he admitted, a rueful smile tugging at his lips. "But I plan to change that. Somehow."He sighed, feeling a bit emotional. "I miss you, Chris. There's so much happening, and I

Alpha Damien had requested that the birthday party for Caleb be held in the morning against the afternoon it was usually held. This was because they would be driving over to Stephanie for the joint party of their children. As usual, Chef Mark was put in charge, a task he did wholeheartedly every year, and this year's party was special. He spent most of the early hours of the morning in the kitchen, he did his work graciously from years of experience. Alpha Damien couldn't be there because he was busy handling the pack business. Some juveniles had broken pack rules, and it fell on him to deal with them as his beta Chris was indisposed. As much as he wanted to be at Caleb's party, responsibilities came first. He knew that Caleb would understand, and he would be there with him at the party his mother was organizing. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of baking pastries. Chef Mark had taken it upon himself to bake three cakes. The main one, a rich chocolate cake adorned with Caleb'

Alpha Damien did as he had promised and began the task of calling the parents of Caleb's friends. But it was not as easy as he had thought it would be, each of them was hesitant after all, the prospect of sending their children to a party in the city, hosted by someone they had never met, was understandably daunting. He knew that convincing the parents individually on the phone was a daunting task, had it not been a personal matter, he would have sent one of his assistants to do the job, so he invited the parents to come to his office for a meeting to clarify any concerns they might have. The room slowly filled as parents arrived, and took their seats. Alpha Damien chuckled within him, he only used to have such meetings to address diplomatic matters, security setups, pack events, and business meetings, never had he imagined he would invite parents to talk about a birthday party."Thank you all for coming,” He began. "I know you have concerns about the party in the city, and I want to

Stephanie stood at the doorway, she had been counting down the hours until she could see Caleb again. Their phone conversations over the past two days had been lovely, but nothing compared to the warmth of a physical embrace. The event planner she hired had transformed the venue beautifully, but Stephanie's involvement in the process had been hands-on. She wanted everything to be perfect, not just for Caleb, but for Kayla too.Kayla, however, has been difficult lately. Her tantrums had escalated, and she frequently accused Stephanie of loving Caleb more. "You just care about him because he's a boy and your precious son!" Kayla had shouted during one of their arguments. Stephanie had tried to soothe her, explaining that she loved them both equally, that they were her children, carried in her womb, and born from the same love. But Kayla remained unconvinced. She missed the simpler times when it was just her, her mother, Grandpa Hank, and occasionally Dr. Zita. The return of Caleb had di

It felt like he was going to war and not visiting his 8-year-old daughter "Kayla, it’s Dad. Can I come in?" He saidThere was a long, heavy silence. No response came from the other side. After a moment, he turned the doorknob and stepped inside. The room was dimly lit, the curtains drawn to block out the afternoon sun. Kayla sat at the edge of her bed, clutching a teddy bear tightly to her chest, her face buried in its fur.Damien approached slowly. "Hey, sweetie," he began, trying to keep his voice gentle and soothing. "Are you okay?"Kayla didn't look up. Her voice was small, barely audible. "What do you want?" she asked."I just wanted to check on you. Everyone's waiting for you downstairs. We miss you."She finally looked up, her eyes red and swollen. "Everyone's waiting for Caleb," she retorted, her voice trembling with anger. "You don’t care about me. You never did. Yo

He reached out, resting a gentle hand on her arm. “What… what happened to you, Cassandra?”Cassandra took a shaky breath, her voice filled with shame and regret as memories rushed back, memories of the choices she had made, the paths she had chosen, and the arrogance that had blinded her. “I trusted someone,” she began, voice breaking. “A younger man. Damien stood on the edge of the field overlooking the lush greenery of parts of the pack territory. He glanced around at the pack members beginning their morning routines and took a deep breath, his mind elsewhere. It was Hank's invitation that lingered in his thoughts—a trip to South Africa, a vacation that had taken on a life of its own in his mind, fueled by encouragement from Stephanie and the children.“I think you should go," Chris had told him one evening, sensing Damien's hesitation. "You've been carrying this pack for years, barely taking a moment for yourself. Let me handle things here for a little while. I owe you that much—and more."Damien had turned to his beta, touched by Chris's words. "Chris, you know since after the whole ordeal we have faced, I planned on never stepping out of the pack for years to come”Chris gave a light chuckle, patting Damien's shoulder with a brotherly confidence. Under the glow of the moonlight, laughter and music filled the air, while the remaining pack members continued to dance and celebrate. Stephanie and Damien stood together, watching Caleb and Kayla play with the other children, their faces glowing with happiness.Suddenly, Chris approached, his arm around Zita, both of them laughing softly. “Alpha,” Chris began. “Zita and I have been talking, and we… We'd love to exchange our vows and officially become mates tonight, with all of you here to witness it. It feels right on a night like this.”Damien’s face lit up with surprise, then softened with a deep warmth. “Chris, I can’t think of a better moment. No one deserves this more than you. You’ve stood by me, through every storm and every success. It’s an honor to have you both join as mates on this special night.”Chris nodded, visibly moved, and his hand tightened around Zita’s. “Thank you, Da

As the celebration continued into the evening, the guests began forming a line to present their gifts to the new Luna. Stephanie graciously accepted each one, touched by the thoughtfulness behind every present. Her heart warmed as she saw the way her pack and loved ones had come together to make this day so memorable.Albert, Damien's former gamma and new Alpha of knight pack, presented a beautifully crafted silver pendant adorned with the Moon Goddess symbol. “To remind you of your strength and wisdom, Luna,” he said with a smile, bowing his head in respect.Stephanie took the pendant with a smile, deeply moved. “Thank you, Albert. I’ll wear it proudly,” she replied, clasping the pendant close to her heart.Jane approached next, holding a delicate painting of a moonlit forest scene. “It’s a reminder of home,” Jane said softly. “Those times you felt lost, but now you have gotten all you deserve because you are a good person.”Stephanie’s eyes shone with gratitude as she took the gift.

The night before the Luna ceremony, Stephanie lay wide awake, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts swirling with anticipation and excitement. It was hard to believe the day was finally here. She was about to step fully into the role of Luna, something that had once seemed unimaginable. Though she had faced endless trials and tribulations, she had come full circle, returning to the place where she now felt a profound sense of belonging. In the early morning hours, she heard a gentle knock at her door. “Mom?” Caleb’s voice whispered through the door.Stephanie rose and opened the door to find Caleb standing there, looking every bit as anxious as she felt. He began to speak but kept stopping, clearly struggling to find the right words.“Mom, are you… excited?” he finally asked, his voice barely more than a whisper.Stephanie placed her hands on his shoulders. “More than you can imagine,” she replied softly. “I’m nervous too, just like you.” She squeezed his shoulders reassuringly. “But

Stephanie could feel the children’s excitement building as they made their way through the heart of the pack’s community toward Alicia's shop. Though she had initially considered using a human seamstress, she felt a sense of ease in choosing Alicia, a decision that felt more meaningful now. Alicia was not only an incredible seamstress but also a woman who deeply understood the werewolf world and its sacred ceremonies. Stephanie knew that Alicia’s designs would capture the spirit and traditions of the pack, honoring the connection to the Moon Goddess. When they arrived, Alicia’s shop was warm and inviting, filled with bolts of fabric in rich colors and textures that seemed to glow under the sunlight streaming through the windows. Stephanie took in the scene, feeling a surge of pride for her pack and their traditions. The door swung open, and Alicia looked up, her face breaking into a broad smile when she saw them. “Stephanie!” she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine delight. “And

As they settled down for breakfast, the atmosphere was light with laughter and the occasional clink of silverware. The events of the past few days felt distant, overshadowed by the warmth of family and the security of home. The children chattered excitedly about their favorite dishes, as Stephanie and Damien exchanged glances, each silently grateful for the peace they now had.Just then, Chris and Zita walked in, both of them beaming, a radiance about them that instantly caught Stephanie’s attention. “Hey! Look who’s finally joining us!” she called out with a welcoming grin."Couldn't resist the smell of breakfast, could you?" Damien added, chuckling as he pulled out chairs for them. Chris laughed, nodding his thanks as he and Zita took their seats at the table, the children greeting them with enthusiastic waves and giggles.“We thought we’d pop in to see everyone before the day fully got underway,” Chris said, giving a warm smile around the table. “But truthfully, Zita and I have som

Stephanie stirred, blinking sleepily as the trauma of the previous night’s ordeal washed over her. She glanced beside her to see Damien, Kayla, and Caleb, all nestled close together, their faces peaceful in sleep. The children had insisted on sleeping with them that night, clinging to the safety and warmth they found between them after the terrifying events they'd endured. Stephanie had found no reason to say no; in fact, their closeness had provided her with a rare sense of calm.Taking a deep breath, Stephanie gently placed her hand on Damien’s shoulder, whispering his name as she brushed back the strands of hair that had fallen across his face. "Damien," she murmured softly, her voice barely audible. He blinked awake, his gaze meeting hers, still clouded with sleep. Slowly, she woke the children too, brushing a soft kiss over each of their foreheads.
