LIAM POV

I left Chloe's father’s house with a pang of guilt and desperation on my face. I blamed myself for breaking her heart and stopping so low to have something to do with her sister, Mendy.

I know she loves me, but I was such a fool to take her love for granted. Now, see the mess I've caused her family and the hatred they all have for me. If not for anyone else, at least for the sake of her grandmother, whom Chile cherishes so much, I need to find her and bring her back so that her grandma can smile and be happy.

I walked away from Chloe's father's house, burdened by guilt and with a deep sense of desperation etched across my face.

The weight of my actions bore heavily on me as I replayed the events that led to the fracture of Chloe's heart. Regret looked straight into my eyeballs for stooping so low as to involve himself with her sister, Mendy.

I couldn't escape the reality that I had taken Chloe's love for granted, blinded by foolishness. Now, the result of my actions has resulted in a shattered family and widespread hostility directed at him. The damage was irreparable, but amidst the ruins, I felt a burning responsibility to mend what I could.

At least, if not for my identity to be regained and for my conscience to be free from guilt, then for the sake of Chloe's beloved grandmother, i needed to rectify the chaos i had caused.

Chloe's happiness had always been intertwined with her grandmother's joy. She was the only woman who took her as her mother and treated her as her daughter since the death of her late mother. I know that Chloe loves her grandmother so much, and I couldn't stand and watch her go into a state of distress just because of my stupid mistake.

“I need to find Chloe as soon as possible.” I mustered to myself as I grabbed my car keys from my side pocket and started the engine of the car to head home.

I drove through the lonely road of the town, listening to some cool R&B music as I thought of ways to present this news to Mendy and how I planned to embark on the search for Chloe. After driving for like thirty minutes, enjoying the ooziness of the breeze and the calmness of the cloud, I got to my house.

Suddenly, the car came to a halt. I stepped out onto the quiet street, the night enveloping the town in a serene embrace. The cool R&B tunes still echoed in my mind, a stark contrast to the turmoil within.

As I approached my door, the weight of the impending conversations with Mendy and the search for Chloe pressed on my chest. I quietly unlocked the door. The familiar scent of my home offered a brief respite. I headed straight to the living room, sinking into the worn-out couch. With a deep breath, I mulled over the words I would choose to deliver the news to Mendy. Guilt lingered like an unwelcome guest, but I knew I had to face the consequences of my actions.

As I was about to go grab my keys and go face the woman I abandoned and refused to satisfy her sexual desires, I heard a voice at the back of the couch saying, “How was the meeting with them?" I got terrified as I almost leaped out of the chair, my hands instinctively clutching my chest. The room seemed to close in as I turned around, only to find Mendy standing there, her gaze fixed on me. Her facial expression was a mixture of surprise and anxiety.

"How was the meeting with them?" she repeated, her voice holding a blend of curiosity and suspicion. I hesitated, searching for the right words to explain the complex situation. The air thickened with unspoken tension, a tangible reminder of the fragile balance hanging in the silence.

I looked for a way to divert the question, just not to make her feel mad. “You startled me. What was all that for? Did you miss me so much? Or do you want us to continue from where we stopped?"I asked her as I grabbed her soft ass to the side of my waist.

She tried pulling my hands down as I tried to grab her by her waistline again. She took a step backward and crossed her hands over to her chest as she said,You left me when I needed you the most. I don't feel horny enough to go on a long, wild ride with you. How about you tell me what you and Chloe's father discussed?" Her eyes shot into mine, demanding honesty.

“Fine! I’ll tell you everything you need to know.” I gave her a response while looking straight into her eyes.

“I went there thinking that there's an important message for the pack, only to find out that Chloe ran away from the house and has left the Mayhill pack for good. I couldn't believe it when they told me. Now, they are all pointing fingers at me, saying that I'm the reason behind her sudden disappearance. Scott grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and threatened to make life unbearable for me if I didn't provide for his sister.”

Mendy's eyes widened as she gave a listening ear to everything I said to her. The room fell silent, tension thickening the air between us. "Chloe ran away?" she finally whispered, disbelief etched across her face.

I nodded solemnly, recounting the painful details. "Yes, Mendy. She left the Mayhill pack for good. The news hit them hard, and they are furious, not just at me but at both of us.”

“How come?" she asked.

"I don't know how it happened. Everything just happened so fast. Everybody is pointing fingers at us, saying that we are the major reason why she left the Mayhill pack.”

“I've always known that Chloe is a weak girl. She couldn't even fight for her man or make things work out between you guys; she just left. I thought she said that she loved you so much. So, what happened to that? Thank goodness that you didn't make her Luna, because she is so weak." Mendy spoke to me with so much happiness in her voice.

“Oh! Come on, Mendy! You aren't even feeling remorseful for your actions at all. We are talking about your sister, and here you are saying nasty things about her weakness. You should be ashamed of yourself. I'm so disappointed in you. Is that the next thing that is supposed to come out of your mouth?" -

Mandy's response cut through the air,her tone rising. “What would you have me say, Liam? I want her to come back to this place. Never! I want her to stay very far away from both of us. I don't want her to ever return again. Let her go live her life somewhere else and with another man who can love her the way she is." She spoke back at me in a rude tone.

“But she is your blood sister, Mendy. Aren't you bothered about her safety?" I asked her as I looked into her eyes, searching for answers.

“Do I look bothered? Alright, let me ask you, What do you want to do?" Mendy inquired, her eyes searching for answers.

I paced about the sitting room, a sense of urgency propelling my movements. Feeling Mendy's intense gaze and burdened by guilt, I let out a deep sigh.

"Look, Mendy, I know what I'm about to say might break your heart a bit, but we both have made a mess, and I need to fix it." The gravity of my words hung in the air, and I could see skepticism in Mendy's eyes.

"How do you intend to fix that?" She questioned me, her voice tinged with apprehension as she focused all her attention on my lips, waiting for me to spill the answer.

"I need to go and look for Chloe. I need to know where she is," I replied with evidence in my voice.

"No way! I won't watch you do that," Mendy blurted out, her resistance immediate and fervent. The tension between us thickened, and the room filled with the weight of unspoken emotions.

"Mendy, I can't just stand by and let the mess we created ruin Chloe's life. I need to find her, apologize, and make amends," I pleaded, hoping she would understand the urgency of the situation.

Mendy crossed her arms, her expression unwavering. "You think finding her is going to fix everything? It's too late for that, Liam. She's gone, and you can't change that," she asserted.

"But I have to try.” I responded back to her.

“Did I just hear you say try? If eventually you end up seeing her and bringing her back home, what then happens to me and the love you said you have for me?"

Her words hung in the air, leaving me momentarily speechless. I stammered before gathering my thoughts to respond.

"I... I... will."

This is weak. He changes his mind after basically hating her because of her letter? It seems improbable.

  • Alpha's Regret: Howling For A Second Chance   chapter 6

CHLOE'S POVI inhaled some breaths of fresh air as I walked into the dark woods. The crisp autumn air sent chills down my skin. I could feel the sound of the dried leaves as I stepped on them with my feet, a symphony of nature welcoming me home into a new life.Leaving the Mayhill pack was a decision that weighed heavily on my heart. The togetherness I once shared with the only woman who took me as her daughter, my grandma, rang in my mind like a haunting melody. Her wise words, the warmth of her presence, and the shared moments lingered in the air as I went deeper into the woods. My departure wasn't just leaving a pack; it was bidding farewell to a piece of my identity. The Mayhill pack had been my family, my refuge, and my home. But sometimes, the path we must take diverges from the one we've known, and in that divergence, we find ourselves.I couldn't shake the ache in my chest, knowing that I had left behind the safety and camaraderie that had been my sanctuary. My brother Scott,

LIAM POV“I can’t promise you that this is what will happen to you when I go look for Chloe, but I'm assuring you that no one can take the place you hold in my heart. Mendy, you are so good to me, even though the world can see that.” I said to her as I looked straight up into her eyes. She shrugged herself off of my body, for she doubted every single thing I had assured her. “Now, you are making me uncomfortable with the way you are acting towards me. Why did you make me lay with you when you know that you can’t watch Chloe's grandma breakdown or have a heart attack? Why? “ She questioned me with pain in her eyes.I took a deep breath, attempting to act as if I couldn't feel the weight of emotions in her heart. "Mendy, I never intended to hurt you. I want you by my side because you bring me comfort, and I needed that before facing whatever awaits me when I find Chloe. I know it's a lot to ask, and I understand if you're upset."She sighed, her shoulders slumping as if she were carryin

CHLOE’S POVI was so terrified that I had no idea when I pissed on my body. The man's voice sounded like a raging war. My heart kept skipping at the sound of his footsteps. I never imagined that a day like this would come where I had to own it up to my chest and say that I'd be my own personal savior.Suddenly, he walked up to me while holding the long gi=un by his side as he grabbed my hair from behind and moved it backward.“Who do you think you are?” He questioned me with no iota of pity in his voice. The question lingered in the air, a challenge to confront the truth of my own identity. In that moment, my reality told me that I had no choice but to face the darkness within myself.I summoned the courage that lay dormant within, pushing through the fear that threatened to consume me. This was the moment to confront the shadows and to own up to the choices that led me to this harrowing juncture. I straightened my back, feeling the cold metal of the gun against my skin."I... SCOTT POVI slept late last night after having a terrible day at work, only to be woken up by the tears of my grandmother. The sniff of her nose and her uncontrollable tears made me roll on the bed. I stayed on my bed for some minutes before thinking of heading downstairs, thinking that her sound of tears and wails would have stopped. The sun was still lost in its own dreams when I was abruptly ripped from mine. The symphony of my grandmother's tears echoed through the silent house, a heartbreaking melody that pierced through the veil of my dreams. I groaned, my eyes heavy with fatigue, but the sound persisted, refusing to be ignored.“If only Chloe was around and hadn’t taken the foolish step of leaving our pack just because she caught the man she once loved sleeping with her elder sister. I know it hurts, but leaving our pack just because of that minor issue makes no sense, especially when she didn’t inform me or speak to anyone about it before leaving the pack. Now I have to deal wi

CHLOE’S POVI woke up to find out that I didn't wake up in the same woods I slept in, despite spending the night outside in the cold weather. At first, the disorientation was so overwhelming that I questioned if I was still dreaming. The transition from the biting chill of the night to the mysterious warmth enveloping me left me in a state of confusion.I tried to wash away the remnants of sleep. I squinted through the dimly lit room. The air was thick with the fragrance of burning incense, a scent that danced around me and seemed to carry a hint of ancient magic. I noticed I was no longer on the hard ground but on a soft mat laid out in a corner of a dark hut. Wooden walls surrounded me, adorned with intricate carvings that seemed to tell stories of times long past.As I pushed myself up, the mat seemed to protest, whispering tales of dreams woven into its fibers. I looked around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. The hut was small but cozy, and the soft glow of the incense burn

CHLOE’S POV“What! That’s so terrible! I exclaimed as I watched her break down in tears as she shared with me her family story.“That’s the major reason I don't like talking about my family. Most times, people think I'm the one framing up the story, but that’s just the hard truth. They didn’t abide by the rules in the woods, and all of them got killed, and I'm the only living one out of my family. So, when I tell you to be careful in the woods, you just have to abide by it.” She spoke as she warned me intensively.“I don’t know the right words to say to you, but I strongly believe that you are a strong person, and I can't wait for you to take revenge on those who killed your family.”“That was the same reason I rescued you from them last night. They wanted to devour you and make you their last supper meal, but I rescued you.”The revelation sent shivers down my spine, and I couldn't help but replay the events of the previous night in my mind. CHLOE’S POV“Abigail, what are you doing? Who exactly are you?” Fear gripped me as I asked her certain questions while watching her play with blood and reciting certain chants.“You don’t have to be scared, Chloe. This is just like my daily rituals; besides, I thought you should still be asleep by now. So, why are you up?” She spoke without looking remorseful or scared about what I said to her.“Really? Are you the one asking me this question? How do you expect me to sleep when I'm not comfortable seeing you play with blood?”As she got to hear the last line of my question, her eyes turned red, and immediately she kept moving forward to me as she continued reciting the chants and moving her hands in a funny way.“Don’t come close to me,Abigail. Stay very far away from me. I don’t want to do anything that will make both of us regret our actions.” I said to her while pointing my finger at her as I raced backwards. It seems like the more I'm moving backwards, the faster she is coming towa

Is that how you welcome your guests into your home?”I laughed out loud while watching her spit out guts from her mouth.“Who told you that you were welcome here,Mendy? "So, I have something in mind, I overheard your conversation about us almost being attacked and I felt like I could weigh in.""What do you possibly have to say? That I also ask alpha Brandon to stay because I cannot be capable of providing security to my pack? Or what?" "I would never insinuate that you have no control over your people. I wanted us to seal a deal that has nothing to do with that man and you know this. I want you to step back from having anything to do with my sister and then you can retain your power over these people.""They are not blind not to see what you have done so far and you expect them to still be happy with you, definitely not to rebel when you have done something so appalling. You are not supposed to be found in any relationship with Mendy."Deep down I knew that I was just testing out the waters and hoping that he didn't bite my head off after everythin

I would never be allowed to get the deals sealer anymore because people miraculously danced to his tune no matter what. As much as I would have loved to challenge this, at the same time, I had a lot of time to reflect on what was more important to me. I had the opportunity to deal with it but I refused because that was meant to bring up a war and right now we were not in that state.I wanted to solidify my presence but the only way to do that was to make sure that there was nothing that would link me with Mendy just yet but she didn't want to leave. If there was something that I could change, it had to be the way they were so concerned about getting to school just to please my sister. "Oh, I don't think that we need to turn it in just yet but we need to work on it regardless. What do you think?""Absolutely nothing. I don't think that we need to roam around just yet, Mendy isn't going to allow us to relax, she's going to stress us the hell out.""Oh, right? We shouldn't forget to turn it in. You can see that I'm barely coherent and I need all the support I can get right now. I knew you were heartless but didn't know it was as bad as this." Mendy managed to speak. She was yet to fully recover but I was going to start now. I looked at the person who was in charge of the steering instead of the one who was just very concerned with herself. "What's it going to be Liam? I already have Alpha Brandon's number on the speed dial and I can always come here to revoke the deal. I'm sure it's not a big deal to you right? Chapter 108Chloe's POV. "Where is my sister?" I demanded immediately I walked into the pack clinic. She wasn't going to keep on doing this when I had sufficient evidence against her. It was her time to finally come clean and I was going to push for it until she realized that there was no going back. I had stomach a lot of shenanigans from her and hearing it from somebody who had absolutely no idea of everything that I went through was the deal breaker for me. The nurses looked around a little bit worried, making me also panic. Their reactions were not normal. I didn't expect that they would be breaking at me as though I asked for their heads."I asked a bloody question: why is everyone taking so long before they give me an answer?" The woman took some time before finally pointing in the direction where she had been before. "I think I should inform you that the alpha took her away." It was a little bit challenging because both of them were on different sizes of the house trying to figure out the best way to attack the other. Chloe was more in tune with her defensive mode, picking up a bat that she found behind the door and raising it in the air, hoping to crash it on whoever was concerned. It wasn't also news that she was trying as much as possible not to do something that would lead into a problem but at the end of the day ended up failing short. They opened the door at the same time and she screamed when she saw the person. It was James, one of the men who worked in the stables. She would never have imagined that he was even remotely close to her sister. James skidded to a halt, dropping the wooden stick he had picked up. "If there was something that I had your opportunity to do, it would be bringing her to life and giving her sound rest. She has been stressed for so long and I think she deserves to be in a safe space where she doesn't have to look over her shoulders." The doctor called from beside her bed. It was a lot more stressful than I thought it was going to be because Mendy looked like she was about to jump out of her skin, thrashing violently. The amount of problems that these frequent attacks were causing to my mental health was getting out of hand. I didn't know why Chloe of all people was so invested in making sure that I missed out on a lot of good things. I knew it was kind of a partial obsession just to get back at me but at some point it was bound to get tiring wasn't it? How long is she going to take us for a ride?" I cocked my head sideways to understand what these people were about. It was evident that they were mad at something. I just didn't know what exactly and most importantly I was feeling a little bit weird, if there was a reason I needed to be fast at ensuring that absolutely no one had their hands on us.
