Liam’s POV

The minutes dragged on. Each second that ticked by felt like an eternity as I paced back and forth in the hallway, my hands running through my hair in frustration.

I couldn’t shake the image of Chloe, standing there the raw pain in her eyes. She’d been through enough already. The last thing I wanted was for her to suffer more.

Soon the security guard finally arrived with the key, I practically snatched it from his hand. “You took your sweet time,” I snapped, irritation boiling over. He flinched but didn’t respond, probably knowing better than to argue. Without a second thought, I shoved the door open, my heart pounding.

The sight that greeted me was worse than I expected. Chloe was sitting on the floor, curled up with her knees to her chest, tears streaking down her face. My breath caught in my throat at the sight of her broken, vulnerable, so far from the woman I’d known to be strong and unshakable. My instincts screamed at me

I walked toward her, dropped to my knees besi

Chloe’s POVThe morning was quiet, and I had almost convinced myself that everything might be okay when I sat down at the kitchen table with Lucy. We were having breakfast, the kind of peaceful moment I had longed for in the chaos of the past few days. The sunlight streamed in through the kitchen windows, casting warm, golden hues across the room, and for a moment, I almost believed that life could go back to normal. But then, of course, the phone rang.I stared at it for a moment, my stomach tightening. I didn’t want to pick it up. Not today. Not after everything that had happened. I had told the kids that everything was fine, that the danger had passed, but in my heart, I knew it hadn’t. Mendy was still out there, still a threat, and I couldn’t just pretend like she wasn’t. I couldn’t just go back to normal when I felt like a storm was brewing in the background. But Lucy, sitting across from me, saw my hesitation. She raised an eyebrow, taking a sip of her coffee before nodding tow

Chloe’s POVThe moment the door closed behind me as I left Lucy’s house to make a call outside, I felt a strange mix of guilt and determination settling deep in my chest. It was as if the weight of the past few days had finally caught up with me, and now I had no choice but to face the consequences. I had been so consumed by my fear and anxiety that I hadn’t stopped to think about how it was affecting everyone around me. The paranoia, the constant worrying—it had to stop.I hadn’t even realized how weak I had become in the face of it all. The encounter with Jax and Mendy had been a breaking point for me, but now, in the quiet of the moment, I could see how beneath me it all was. I had allowed them to provoke me, to make me feel small and helpless. The way Jax had smirked at me, the way Mendy had taunted me with her threats, had eaten away at my confidence. I had let it happen.I couldn’t keep doing this. I couldn’t keep letting them control me with their words and their threats. No mo

Liam’s POVThe moment the last of the Alphas stepped out the door, I felt the uncertainty in my chest begin to loosen, just a little. We had survived this meeting, but the undercurrent of unease that lingered in my heart wasn’t going anywhere. The threats, the attacks, the mystery behind everything, it was still there, pressing on me like an invisible weight. I had tried to keep my cool, tried to act like I had everything under control. But deep down, I knew that things were falling apart faster than I could keep up with.I looked through the window only to see Chloe and Luke, walking closer. I stopped outside the room, took a breath, and prepared myself for whatever words she was about to unleash. As soon as she saw me, her eyes locked onto mine, and I knew exactly what she wanted to hear, Luke must have broken the news to her. “What the hell is going on, Liam?” Her voice was steady, but her eyes, those eyes were burning with anger and frustration. She had every right to be. Afte

Chloe’s POVI couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe that after everything, after all the years of trust, Liam had kept so much from me.I had walked away from him, not saying a word, my back rigid and my fists clenched. Liam had called after me, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t look at him right now. I couldn’t hear his excuses. He had been keeping things from me. I reached the door to our room, I felt his presence behind me, felt his hand on my arm as he tried to stop me, tried to make me listen.“Chloe,” his voice was low, full of regret, but I didn’t care. I yanked my arm out of his grip, pushed the door open, and walked inside, barely glancing at him as I did.He followed me in, his footsteps heavy, but I didn’t look at him. Not yet. I couldn’t. I couldn’t look at him without seeing the man who had lied to me. I turned to face him finally, and the words came out before I could stop them.“What else, Liam?” My voice was sharp, cutting through the space between us. “What else are y

Chloe’s POVThe silence in the house was unbearable, and I could feel the weight of everything pressing down on me. It had been a few days since I’d decided to take action against Jax and Mendy, but I hadn’t received any information from my contact. Nothing. The nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach grew every minute that passed without a word. The longer I waited, the more uncertain I became.I sat in the study, staring at the space in front of me, and the quiet hum of the house around me. The kids were at school, and Liam was busy with meetings, he had enough to deal with without me adding to it. I didn’t want to bother him. I knew he was working hard to protect us, but it didn’t feel like enough. Not with Mendy and Jax scheming behind our backs.I tried to focus on other things, even though my mind kept drifting back to the problem at hand. I had so many plans, so many things to do once Mendy was no longer a threat. But it felt like a luxury to even think about those plans when

Chloe’s POV I headed straight for Scott’s place, my heart pounding. I barely registered the drive. I just knew I had to talk to him, had to get some answers. My mind replayed the conversation with her contact. I got to the door and rang the bell. It took some minutes before I could hear the response and the creak of the door came live, Scott opened the door, his face lighting up with a surprised smile when he saw me. “Chloe! You here?” He gave me a warm hug. “Well, she had come at a good time,” his wife, Nora, called out teasingly from the kitchen. “I’m almost done cooking!”Despite my rising heart I still managed a small laugh. Scott grinned and pulled me inside. “Come on.”But I couldn’t smile, not really. The moment the door shut behind us, that hollow feeling returned, gnawing at me. I felt like I was drowning in a mixture of anger and sadness, and Scott noticed. His eyes flicked from me to Nora, and concern etched all over m his face.Nora must have picked up on it, too, beca

Every instinct in me screamed to drive straight to my father’s house and demand he tell me everything, why he’d kept Mendy hidden, what he’d been thinking. I decided to call him and immediately I dialed his number, my phone rang with another call, interrupting me.I stared at the number, inhaling loudly before picking up. “How’re you doing?” Lia’s voice sounded in my ear, she didn’t waste time with greetings, and I wasn’t surprised. My mouth opened, and I took a shaky breath, feeling the anger and frustration bubble over. “What’s happening? Why is your breath shaky?” Her voice held a hint of concern. “Lia, I’m so angry right now, I don’t even know what to do with myself.” I paused, pressing a hand against my forehead. “I feel like… like everything is falling apart.”“Oh! My heart skipped a bit that the revelation because this was completely beyond what I was expecting in any shape or form. My eyes were focused on what was more necessary than just waiting for answers My wolf package hard time believe it that it was probably just poison. It's substance was not mentioned and that was a huge red flag on its own. Someone had to explain to me in layman's term why the autopsy results didn't reveal anything favorable. There were a lot of things to think about but one of the things that stood out for me was the way the scientist switched carefully while staring at me. This was an explanation that could not be done without and I was expecting more. Scott glanced at me as though we shared the same sentence and he coughed. "Whatever way I know that we still need to talk." He said. The living room was plunged into greater silence as we waited for the answers to be m

Chapter 64. Chloe's POV.Awaiting the autopsy was not even a great idea. All that Chloe thought about was to make her father get the justice he deserved. The insane amount of mishaps that had come into her life the past few days was not to be reckoned with, and she felt like there had to be a means of tackling this without feeling weak or weary from any angle. Her kids didn't even think that their actions had a long-lasting impact. She picked up my phone to call Scott, "what is happening." Liam was less concerned with what was happening, so she needed to get my answers myself. "I don't want you to think so much about everything that has been going on because it's not going to help either of us, but there is only one way that we can achieve our goals, which is by waiting for the result. Then I would know what to do." Scott said. Chloe didn't understand why he was wasting so much time confronting their sister when it was almost getting clear that her father had been murdered, prob

Instead, it was only her next move. Evil when she's poked against, she's poked against close powerful. I could see the way things began to drum in a sarcastic manner. I believed that everything was going to work out for good, but at the same time, I needed to be as careful as I should. I stopped in front of his room and contemplated how my next statement was going to affect him. I needed new people to understand the mood of the population and abide by it, not those who are ready to change me at every cost. Without him clamoring to have some sort of land or power to himself it's made everyone appear in their natural state just to make it very relatable. Chapter 62. Chloe's POV. My heart pounded in my ribcage, trying to find out if my child was fine. Why hadn't Lia called me if there was an issue? She was the only person that I trusted too much to call me about what was happening. As soon as I headed into the room, I didn't understand what was going on at first but decided to take a deep breath just to see what was happening. I pushed the door open and so Aria hooked up with different drips running through her veins, looking pale. My heart skipped a bit as I rushed her to her side. Ignoring Liam, who was sitting beside her and looking at me as though I was the devil spawn, I looked at her and back at him. "What happened to her?" "You went away for so long and appeared out of nowhere to ask what happened to her. How interesting!" I shut my eyes in shock. This was absolutely not what I was looking for. I needed something very important, such as a damn reason why this was happening. "Apparently I think that you didn't he

My dad sat on the chair in front of me watching carefully, as I progressed towards where he was sitting and also looking carefully. "You are unhappy. I can feel it. Why is that?" I knew that if I opened my mouth to start speaking immediately I would burst into tears, uncontrollable ones at that. My eyes welled up with tears but I realized that for me to continue this way it was going to make me look even more weak. "I wanted to report certain things to you. I need you to call Mendy. She has been getting on my nerves for so long now and I would appreciate it if you called her to order. She isn't a lost cause yet until we agree that she is not worth it." I said, hoping that she had not come here to report before I did and render my testimony invalid. Gazing at me intently, my father finally spoke, "if she ha

He asked, a bit anxious just to find out why I had decided to call on him. 'I need to tell you something very important and I hope that we should be able to rub minds together. I have pondered on this for so long and still have not come up with an answer that is suitable." I started. His eyes widened slightly, looking at me for a minute. "May I know the reason for this discussion?" He asked while scanning the environment, his heart pumping visibly underneath his tight shirt. This was everything and more of what she wanted in her entire life and nothing was going to stop her from achieving everything that she should. Things were getting out of hand and it was only imperative that she found a means of nipping it in the bud. "Hi, how are you guys doing today?" She asked the kids as soon as they entered the class. Their mother had no right to come and confront her and that was her only saving grace. "Good morning, Miss Mendy, we missed you last night.
