Chloe’s POV

My fingers clenched around the steering wheel as I glared at the road ahead, barely seeing anything but red.

Every instinct in me screamed to drive straight to my father’s house and demand he tell me everything, why he’d kept Mendy hidden, what he’d been thinking.

I decided to call him and immediately I dialed his number, my phone rang with another call, interrupting me.

I stared at the number, inhaling loudly before picking up.

“How’re you doing?” Lia’s voice sounded in my ear, she didn’t waste time with greetings, and I wasn’t surprised.

My mouth opened, and I took a shaky breath, feeling the anger and frustration bubble over.

“What’s happening? Why is your breath shaky?” Her voice held a hint of concern.

“Lia, I’m so angry right now, I don’t even know what to do with myself.” I paused, pressing a hand against my forehead. “I feel like… like everything is falling apart.”

“Oh! Just take a breath,” she soothed. “Why don’t you come over for a bit? Let’s talk about it

Liam’s POVI gripped the phone tighter, trying to keep my voice calm as I spoke. “Chloe, listen to me, don’t be scared, I won’t let anything happen to you, and don’t stop the car. No matter what, keep moving, I will be with you soon. Do you understand?” I asked. “Yes, I understand.” Her breathing was quick. “Good.” I motioned to the guard beside me, signaling him to deploy our team immediately. “We will be there in less than five minutes. You’re going to be okay, okay?.”I dropped the call planning to grab my car key but before I could even lag my hands on the key, I felt my body tense and my mind connect to someone. Immediately I knew it was my beta. “My Alpha, we’ve got a situation. The pack’s under attack. Unknown men seem like rogues, but something’s off.” For a split second, I felt torn in two directions, like I was being pulled apart by forces beyond my control. My wife needed me, but my pack was under attack. I knew Chloe was scared, and I wanted nothing more than to be the

Liam’s POV I slammed my fist down on the wall, the noise echoing through the room as everyone went silent. “How could this happen?” I demanded, my eyes scanning the room, watching the guard in front of me fumble for words. He looked shaken, sweat beading on his brow, but he couldn’t meet my gaze.“Well?” I pressed, feeling my patience slipping. “How was something so important left unprotected?”He swallowed, shifting uncomfortably. “Alpha, I… I don’t have an explanation,” he muttered. “We weren’t prepared for this kind of attack. They were in and out before we knew what was happening.”“Not prepared?” I snapped, letting my voice sharp. “Your only job is to be prepared. Those documents were vital, and you let them slip right out from under you.”I walked out of the room, going to the office where the document had been rubbed, tons of guard lined the way in with their sword held tight beside them. “Is the iron with you held for fashion?” I asked annoyingly and they all shook in fear

Liam’s POV The shadows had grown longer across the courtyard, and every instinct in me was on high alert. The recent attacks were relentless, each one more calculated than the last. Whoever was behind them knew my weaknesses, hitting us where it hurt the most and using our strategies against us. Every time we seemed to gain ground, something slipped. Someone slipped. The realization was gnawing at me that someone within my walls, one of my people, was feeding Jax information. But I couldn’t afford to make it public. I had to move carefully, staying one step ahead without alerting whoever was betraying us. The stakes had grown too high.A small group of my closest allies had gathered in the meeting room, their expressions as grim as I felt. Luke sat to my right, his jaw set in that hard line he always wore when he was on edge.“We need to set a trap for the mole,” one of them began, his voice was low and edged with frustration. “We’re just sitting here waiting to be picked off.” he

Chloe’s POV The moment Liam told me he was stepping down, a surge of anger overtook me. “Ungrateful,” I snapped, pacing the room. “They don’t even realize how much you’ve done for them, how much you’ve sacrificed.”Liam’s face remained calm, his gaze steady as he watched me vent. “I think it’s part of the role. I knew it would be this way when I took it on. Let them think what they want. Once Jax is dealt with, they’ll be begging me to take the position back.”“Still…” I shook my head, feeling the frustration coil tighter in my chest. “This isn’t fair to you. After all the work you’ve put in….”“Chloe.” He came closer, taking my hands in his, grounding me with his presence. “It’ll be fine. I’m stepping down, yes, but it’s temporary. They won’t get rid of me so easily. Besides, I need to focus on our family now. And on keeping you safe.”There was a finality in his words, a resolve that settled over me. I knew he’d made up his mind. His hand reached up, brushing a stray strand of hair

Chloe’s POV With Liam gone, the walls seemed to close in around me. Every creak, every rustle outside had my heart racing. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was lurking just beyond the doors, waiting for the right moment to strike. So, I did the only thing I thought would keep us safe; I locked the doors shut and kept my children close by my side. Since Liam traveled, I have refused to step outside, scared stepping outside might endanger my life and my kids even though Lia and Lucy had tried changing my perspective it’s all failed, I don’t want to step outside knowing fully Jax and Mendy's eyes is everywhere surrounding me. Today, Lia had cones for a visit and I know the reason why she had come, but I don’t think anything can change my perspective. I’m not going to step out until the arrival of Liam. “Chloe, this isn’t healthy. You’re locking yourself and the kids in here like prisoners. This isn’t protection…it’s fear.” Lia's voice was sharp as he continued with her ba

Chloe’s POV I sat in silence, staring blankly at the walls of my living room as the words Lia and Bryan had thrown at me swirled in my mind. Their voices overlapped in a constant loop, each one tugging at the layers of fear I’d carefully wrapped around myself. “You’re stronger than this, Chloe. Stop hiding” But it wasn’t only their voices, my insecurities gnawing away at me, making me question how I’d turned into someone so bound by fear. When did I become this person? When did I allow Jax, Mendy, and everything they represented to steal my courage? To rob me of the joy of simply living? The faces of my children flashed through my mind, their innocent smiles dimmed by the confinement I’d forced upon them. They deserved better than a mother who cowered behind locked doors. My hands clenched into fists as I realized just how much I’d let fear dictate my life. That had to end, now.I pushed myself up from the couch and went upstairs. I found my twins playing with their toys, but they

Chloe’s POV I could barely contain my nerves as I helped the kids into their uniforms. Today was the first day they’d be back at school after everything that had happened. My heart raced with a mix of fear and hope, but I pushed it down, plastering on a smile as I smoothed the collar of Aria’s blouse.“You look so smart, sweetheart,” I said, tying her ponytail. She grinned at me, her tiny face lighting up with excitement. “Do you think the other kids will like us?”“Of course, they will,” I replied, though the knot in my stomach told me otherwise. I wasn’t just worried about how Aria and Luis would adjust; I was terrified of what being out in the world again would mean for their safety.“I’m ready, Mom!” Luis bounded into the room, his tie crooked. I knelt to fix it, shaking my head at his enthusiasm. “You’re going to charm everyone with that energy of yours, but let’s make sure you look as sharp as your sister.”As I tightened his tie and patted his chest, my phone buzzed on the st

Chloe’s POV The moment the words left the principal’s mouth, I froze, every part of me stiffening like I’d been struck by lightning.“Yes,” she said, “She’ll be Aria and Luis’ teacher this year. We’re so lucky to have her, she’s been an absolute gem.”I blinked, sure I’d misheard. “I’m sorry,” I said slowly, my voice trembling with the effort to stay calm. “You’re saying Mendy is my children’s teacher? Or am I just mishearing?”“No you’re not mishearing,” the principal replied, beaming. “She graciously agreed to step in after the original teacher had an accident. We’re very fortunate to have someone so qualified and committed join us at such short notice.” She explained. I stared at her, my mind struggling to process the words. My heart began to race, panic rising in my chest. Mendy. Of all people. Why is this happening to me? “You’ve got to be joking,” I said, my voice sharper now.The principal frowned slightly, the warmth in her expression faltering. “I’m not joking, Mrs. Liam.

Chapter 56. Chloe's POV. I paced around when I heard that my kids were nowhere to be found. I hope that Mendy had not taken them away from me for that would be an utter disaster. My heart was beating faster than a sports car but I didn't even know what to say. A few minutes later, the kids came barreling into the house with excitement in their eyes. I was worried sick, but they were busy enjoying themselves out there. It was wild, to say the least. "Where did you go all along?" "We were at Miss Mendy's place." "Mendy?" "Yes, she gave us something to eat and it was pretty tasty," Aria answered with a small smile. "Tasty? Why are you going over to your teacher's house without my consent?" I asked them. "Is there any reason why I shouldn't allow my kids to visit their lovely teacher?" "You should have told me right from the start. I don't appreciate you taking them anywhere without my consent. This isn't even to be negotiated. How don't you see this as a problem?"

Chapter 55. Liam's POV. "Where are we going to?" Asher inquired curiously making me wonder what exactly the problem was. I was waiting to see what could be done concerning these children because they seemed to have a stronger mind of their own. Courtesy of their mother. Chloe influenced the kids because that was the only reason they would ask me such deep questions like adults. "When we get to this place, I want you to be well-behaved. If not, I'm going to take you back immediately," I told both of them Aria looked up at me, inspecting my eyes. "Are you serious right now?" My eyes widened at her language. Again Chloe was to be blamed. "I don't understand what exactly you are talking about but I just want you to be mindful of whatever you are doing." "Tell me what exactly you want. You cried that you wanted to come with me, and I allowed you, and now you're asking if I'm serious? Spare those languages for your mom." Asher looked at me as though I had said something

Chapter 54 Chloe’s POV My heart beat faster as I watched Chloe fall down on the floor, my eyes widened. At first, I thought she was joking until I used my leg to tap her ass, and she refused to lift her body up. “Chloe, stop joking and wake up. Stand up right now!” I lamented, praying for her to get up, but instead, her body remained on the floor. My heart started beating even faster. “Dad! Mom!” I heard a voice from behind, and I turned only to find Aria walking toward me, her brows furrowed. “Dad, what happened to Mom?” Her small voice yelled as she ran to Chloe, leaning beside her and tapping her forehead. “Dad, she is hot! She is feeling hot!” she screamed, and I had no option but to lean toward Chloe and touch her forehead. She felt like somebody who had just been pulled out of hot water. Sweat erupted out of my body as I raised my gaze up. “Aria, stand up. Go to your room. I will be back, let me take Mommy to the hospital,” I said, and she nodded, though she hesitated fo

Chapter 53 Chloe’s POV I hesitated, unsure whether I should assist Liam or not. My gaze lingered on him, filled with a mix of anger and resentment. Initially, I decided to leave him to his fate, but when he groaned in pain, my resolve wavered. I turned back to him, and a wave of sadness washed over me. Reluctantly, I chose to help him. I approached him, bending down to his level, and gently assisted him to his feet. I tried lifting him up, but he seemed heavy. No matter how hard I tried, he kept falling back onto the floor. I didn't know what to do as sadness bubbled up in my mind. I sat down beside him with a trembling body. Tears streamed down my cheek, I didn't know why or what made everything change suddenly. The Liam I got mated to is not the one sitting beside me. The Liam I know would never go out and get himself drunk. The Liam I know would never raise his voice at me, no matter what the situation was. But the one sitting on the floor was totally different. I cleaned th

Chapter 52 Chloe’s POV The silence in the house feels suffocating, and the thought in my chest refuses to lift no matter how much I try to distract myself. The kids are upstairs playing, and I sit alone on the living room couch, staring blankly at the window side. How did we get here? I run my hands through my hair, frustration building as the memories flood back, Liam’s words, his accusations, the bitterness in his voice when he said I’d caused him to lose so much. Every time I replay it, I come up empty. What did I do to deserve this? Where did I go so wrong? Blaming myself is easier than facing the possibility that Liam might be wrong. If it’s my fault, at least I have some control. “Mama?” I heard Asher voice, interrupting my thoughts, and I look up to see him standing at the edge of the room, his wide eyes filled with concern. “Yes, sweetheart?” I say, forcing a smile that feels like it might crack my face. “Are you okay?” He asks, walking closer. Chapter 51 Liam’s POV I slam the door behind me, my breath was heavy with anger. Each step i took away from Chloe feels like I’m putting distance between myself and the chaos she brings, but I know it’s a temporary reprieve. Her face lingers in my mind, etched with defiance and hurt, and it only fuels the storm brewing inside of me. I head to the trails behind the house, hoping a run will clear my head. The cool air hits my face as I start, my feet pounding against the dirt path. My muscles ache in ways they haven’t before, and my breath catches, uneven and unfamiliar. Something feels… off. I slow to a walk, pressing a hand to my chest. It’s not just physical, there’s a shift deep within me, something I can’t quite place. My wolf stirs uneasily, a low growl vibrating at the edges of my consciousness. “What now?” I mutter aloud, running a hand through my hair. My wolf didn’t answer, but his presence is stronger, more persistent. It’s like he’s trying to tell me something, b

Hearing him calling me a weak wolf makes me more. “Is that what you want, Liam?” My voice is soft but trembling in a way that I could even hear. I search his face, desperate to find something, anything that might make sense of the mess we’ve become. He falters, just for a second. His lips parted as if he were going to say something, and for the briefest moment, I saw the man I was mated to. The man who once held me when I was breaking. But then, as quickly as it came, it’s gone. His jaw tightens, and his eyes harden like steel.“I can’t keep doing this,” he mutters, running a hand through his hair. “I’m tired of everything, I remember…” His voice trails off, and I can see the wheels turning in his head.“Remember what?” I ask, stepping closer. “What is it, Liam? Instead, he busied himself with his phone, scrolling through it as though she weren’t even there. The casual indifference in his actions ignited a fire in her chest. “Liam!” she snapped, stepping closer. “What do you mean I’m overreacting? Say it to my face.” He didn’t even look up. The phone in his hand buzzed, and before Chloe could say another word, he answered it. “Mendy,” Liam said, his voice softening, a stark contrast to the irritation he’d shown Chloe moments before. “No, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. She’s just being dramatic again.” Chloe’s heart stopped. Her chest tightened as the words registered. He’s talking about me. She stood frozen, every muscle in her body
