Chapter 72.

Chloe's POV.

Really with the information that I had just received. If anything he was saying was true then I needed to be more apologetic to him.

Despite going out with my sister, he managed to remain as kind as possible to me. That was enough to make me believe that he wasn't a lost cause yet and a solution could still be found if I was fast enough, but if I wasn't, then he was going to be gone for good, and I will be damned, and if that happens.

"Absolutely unapologetic but I think he has a point. I think you should also cut him some slack. If you keep on pushing for information, he might just revolt, and that is exactly what Mendy wants." Lia's words broke into my thoughts and gave me a newer perspective.

It wouldn't make any sense if I lost the only person that I could rely on. Liam.

Before this, he was the best person that I had ever met after our initial quarrels, and that gave me hope of getting my life back on track. This was supposed to make me feel good but

Chapter 73. Chloe's POV. The sound of a monitor beeping in the distance had me switching between opening and shutting my eyes. Try as I might to come into consciousness, I ended up failing woefully as I succumbed to darkness. My thoughts before I passed out were, "Please help me." Hearing the sound of the beeping monitor again had me confused because I felt like I had died. I was in a frozen state. My entire skin couldn't move and I hoped that I was able to get something out of this. "She looks like she's beginning to wake up." "I hope you can resuscitate her." "This is beeping so loud and I'm beginning to get scared for myself." Someone said in the distance. I wanted to shout as much as I could that I could hear them and they should unplug me from that noiseome machine but that was probably not going to happen because of the probability attached to it. I could think well, I just wanted to open my eyes but it was not working. Almost as though glue has been spread over my eyel

Chloe's POVIn the MayHill pack, being a white wolf is a curse, and that fact took a great toll on me. I had my white wolf at the age of six, but I kept her hidden because I would have been referred to as a freak if anyone had found out. I wasn't ready to face such scrutiny and become an outcast among my peers.“Chloe.” A voice called from downstairs, and I knew from its tone that it was none other than my grandma. She was the one person who loved me dearly, the only person who knew that I had a white wolf.“Grandma! I need to sleep more,” I groaned as I rolled from one end of the bed to another, my body still feeling the need for a long sleep.“Today is your birthday, Chloe, so get up already!” From the high pitch of her voice, I knew she was closer to my room.“I'm still feeling sleepy, grandma! Just give me ten minutes, and I will be downstairs immediately,” I said, but the door to my room burst open, revealing my grandmother, whose face was glowing red with anger.“Get up right no

Chloe's povI was expecting him to feel remorseful for what he had done, but there was no sign of remorse on his face as he stared at me blankly."Liam," I called again, and Mendy rolled her eyes at me, and my eyes dilated in shock.Mendy knew I was his mate, yet she chose to seduce him.I had never thought of seducing any of Mendy's boyfriends, but here she was kissing my mate in front of me. What a shame!"Liam, do you know that I am your mate?" I asked slowly, and he stared at me with a look I couldn't fathom, but I knew it wasn't a good look or a remorseful one either.“Yes, I know." He dropped the bombshell as if I were being stabbed with an arrow. My heart shattered into thousands of pieces, and I almost lost my balance. My knees wobbled, and when they couldn't support my weight any longer, I fell helplessly on the ground as tears streamed down my eyes, smearing my makeup."I know that you're my mate, but do you expect me to accept a weak she-wolf like you? You don't have a wolf

Chloe's POV “Dad, that's not true. Liam is my mate!” I argued, but my dad turned and glared at me, making me shut my mouth. With one last glance at Liam and Mendy, who were smiling secretly, I ran out of the room in tears, and Lucy and my grandma followed after me. I ran all the way to my room without stopping to catch my breath, and tears slipped my eyes as I reminisced about how Mendy and Liam were kissing, and their kissing scene refused to leave my head as the image kept haunting me every second. Why me?What did I do so wrong to get rejected in such a cruel and painful way?I was just a young girl who was eager to meet her mate and live happily with him, but all my hopes were cut short by the scene I saw between Mendy and Liam a few minutes ago.Lucy ran into my room and pulled me into another comforting hug.“You will be fine, dear friend; Liam doesn't deserve you.” Lucy consoled me as I cried on her shoulder, my tears wetting her dress, but she didn't mind.“Chloe, stop crying

Liam POVAfter leaving Chloe's house yesterday with Mendy, we headed to the pack house and slept there until this morning. The morning sun slipped through the curtains and penetrated straight into my eyes, which made me groan slightly and open my eyes slowly.I turned to my left hand and saw Mendy sleeping peacefully in my arms like a baby, and I smiled. I never really regretted rejecting Chloe for Mendy; she's a weak girl who doesn't have a wolf, and I can't let such a person be the Luna of my pack, and, moreover, I don't love her, so I had to reject her. When I rejected Chloe and she fell to the ground, wailing in pain, I almost regretted my decision, but it was already done; there's no use crying over spilled milk, and she's not meant to be my Luna.I did that for the sake of the MayHill pack; I can't afford to make a weakling my mate and end up getting all the members of my pack killed.I was still dwelling in my thoughts when I heard a light groan, and I snapped out of my thought

LIAM POVI left Chloe's father’s house with a pang of guilt and desperation on my face. I blamed myself for breaking her heart and stopping so low to have something to do with her sister, Mendy.I know she loves me, but I was such a fool to take her love for granted. Now, see the mess I've caused her family and the hatred they all have for me. If not for anyone else, at least for the sake of her grandmother, whom Chile cherishes so much, I need to find her and bring her back so that her grandma can smile and be happy.I walked away from Chloe's father's house, burdened by guilt and with a deep sense of desperation etched across my face. The weight of my actions bore heavily on me as I replayed the events that led to the fracture of Chloe's heart. Regret looked straight into my eyeballs for stooping so low as to involve himself with her sister, Mendy.I couldn't escape the reality that I had taken Chloe's love for granted, blinded by foolishness. CHLOE'S POVI inhaled some breaths of fresh air as I walked into the dark woods. The crisp autumn air sent chills down my skin. I could feel the sound of the dried leaves as I stepped on them with my feet, a symphony of nature welcoming me home into a new life.Leaving the Mayhill pack was a decision that weighed heavily on my heart. The togetherness I once shared with the only woman who took me as her daughter, my grandma, rang in my mind like a haunting melody. Her wise words, the warmth of her presence, and the shared moments lingered in the air as I went deeper into the woods. My departure wasn't just leaving a pack; it was bidding farewell to a piece of my identity. The Mayhill pack had been my family, my refuge, and my home. But sometimes, the path we must take diverges from the one we've known, and in that divergence, we find ourselves.I couldn't shake the ache in my chest, knowing that I had left behind the safety and camaraderie that had been my sanctuary. Mendy, you are so good to me, even though the world can see that.” I said to her as I looked straight up into her eyes. She shrugged herself off of my body, for she doubted every single thing I had assured her. “Now, you are making me uncomfortable with the way you are acting towards me. Why did you make me lay with you when you know that you can’t watch Chloe's grandma breakdown or have a heart attack? Why? “ She questioned me with pain in her eyes.I took a deep breath, attempting to act as if I couldn't feel the weight of emotions in her heart. "Mendy, I never intended to hurt you. I want you by my side because you bring me comfort, and I needed that before facing whatever awaits me when I find Chloe. I know it's a lot to ask, and I understand if you're upset."She sighed, her shoulders slumping as if she were carryin

Chapter 71. Chloe's POV. I felt a little perplexed by his accusations when I refused to let him work over me anymore. "You are just looking for excuses to justify your actions. I am not going to waste my time here going back and forth, simply because you cannot make up your damn mind on who you want in your life." I snapped back at him. Gone were the days when he intimidated the hell out of me while I folded my lap gently, waiting for him to speak. I pointed in his face in annoyance. "If you want any form of respect then you have to be willing to deal with me accordingly. You can't go about parading and looking for respect when you have not dished it out to me. My father freaking died, but what did you do? You went ahead to act like a fool!" I wasn't going to allow him to get away with his crimes. I was done making excuses for a grown man. If he wanted me, then he would grow ahead to show it, not me trying to push him to feel something for me. I was not a commodity that could be

Chapter 70. Chloe's POV. I tapped my feet impatiently, waiting for my brother's return, which had taken so long. I would not have expected him to waste so much time except he had an ulterior motive. I knew that it seemed like I was not really concerned by everything that was happening, but I was, just that I wanted some measure of evidence before accusing someone of wrongdoing. Lia walked into my room and clicked her tongue in annoyance. "I understand that you are grieving about your father's death but now you look like Hades!" She exaggerated, plopping on my bed without warning. "I would appreciate it if you took your exaggeration elsewhere, but if you can't, maybe I will just leave the room. I was trying to gather my thoughts." I snapped at her, it was not intentional at all but I was frustrated to that point and didn't care how she might be feeling at that moment. "I am honestly trying to understand why you have decided not to get involved in this. Do you have anything to tel

  • Alpha's Regret: Howling For A Second Chance   Book 2 chapter 69

Chapter 69. Author's pov. Scott took a walk stretching towards the school area so that he could understand how long this was going to take for him to understand and capture everything that his sister had been doing. He was of a firm opinion that she had a hand in this and didn't need any conviction besides that which he already had. One of the things that he kept pretty much close to himself was the fact that she had a lot of people jumping in on the bandwagon and as much as he would have argued with her, he found out that staying away was the best. He watched Mendy move around the school, laughing heartily as much as her heart could bear while getting into the hearts of everyone. You could see them hanging on every word that she spoke, and he wanted to know how she managed to achieve this in such a short time. The Mendy he knew wasn't that great with people and the sudden switch was alarming. Taking a deep breath while reclining against the wall, he watched her relate with

Chapter 68. Chloe's POV. Lia placed right in front of me, with her hands safely at her sides, looking at me as though she needed more explanation as to why I had not taken a firm decision. "You need to tell me that you suspect that she might have something to do with this and was even talking about it yet you left? Tell me something else, and I would readily believe, but not this. Why are you so calm to a fault?" She mumbled under her breath. I didn't want to disgrace myself in that place. "I need to go back and knock some sense into her head because she sounds senseless. How can she even say that?" She demanded, whistling in fury."I think we should focus on more important things than fighting my sister for not showing up despite everything that has happened. I don't think Liam is well and would focus on that while Scott handles the other issues." I responded with a small smile, also hoping that this would help her calm downHer eyes tripled in size as she looked at me, "I woul

Chapter 67. Chloe's POV. Back at my house, I was a bit worried about what could be done to harm me anytime soon because if someone was so pertinent about doing something like this, then they had every intention to even go deeper, making me a bit worried. I decided to seek Mendy out, she had to have answers for everything that had been happening so far. I bumped into Scott on my way out and I was just a little bit worried for the look of excitement I saw in his eyes. He had probably done something pretty insane and was proud of himself which I didn't know how to feel about it. "Where are you off to?""Nowhere in particular, I was trying to talk to Mendy and see what she would have to say concerning the issue at hand because now I'm beginning to wonder why she has been wasting so much time to give me answers."He looked at me with slightly widened eyes, a bit locked in but still very anxious so I decided to speak with him at length to kind of figure out what exactly was going on.

If I was able to get more information from him, it meant that I was settled but if I wasn't, then I would have to do a lot more just to prove how interesting this was. "Having an initial contact with you I would never have imagined that you would not tell the truth when it is presented to you because of everyone I felt like you would be better." I said immediately I spotted him, looking far off. The man truly looked dejected and I couldn't help but feel sorry for him but it could probably be a lie because that was the way most of them behaved and I had no choice but to do what I could. I stopped moving around and watched his countenance go from being pleased to annoyed in one second. He had a lot to tell me but was holding back. "You are going to remain in this dungeon for a long time and never see your family again. I'm sure that is not what you wa

My heart skipped a bit that the revelation because this was completely beyond what I was expecting in any shape or form. My eyes were focused on what was more necessary than just waiting for answers My wolf package hard time believe it that it was probably just poison. It's substance was not mentioned and that was a huge red flag on its own. Someone had to explain to me in layman's term why the autopsy results didn't reveal anything favorable. There were a lot of things to think about but one of the things that stood out for me was the way the scientist switched carefully while staring at me. This was an explanation that could not be done without and I was expecting more. Scott glanced at me as though we shared the same sentence and he coughed. "Whatever way I know that we still need to talk." He said. The living room was plunged into greater silence as we waited for the answers to be m
