Chapter 71.

Chloe's POV.

I felt a little perplexed by his accusations when I refused to let him work over me anymore. "You are just looking for excuses to justify your actions. I am not going to waste my time here going back and forth, simply because you cannot make up your damn mind on who you want in your life." I snapped back at him.

Gone were the days when he intimidated the hell out of me while I folded my lap gently, waiting for him to speak.

I pointed in his face in annoyance. "If you want any form of respect then you have to be willing to deal with me accordingly. You can't go about parading and looking for respect when you have not dished it out to me. My father freaking died, but what did you do? You went ahead to act like a fool!"

I wasn't going to allow him to get away with his crimes. I was done making excuses for a grown man. If he wanted me, then he would grow ahead to show it, not me trying to push him to feel something for me. I was not a commodity that could be

Despite going out with my sister, he managed to remain as kind as possible to me. That was enough to make me believe that he wasn't a lost cause yet and a solution could still be found if I was fast enough, but if I wasn't, then he was going to be gone for good, and I will be damned, and if that happens. "Absolutely unapologetic but I think he has a point. I think you should also cut him some slack. If you keep on pushing for information, he might just revolt, and that is exactly what Mendy wants." Lia's words broke into my thoughts and gave me a newer perspective. It wouldn't make any sense if I lost the only person that I could rely on. Liam. Before this, he was the best person that I had ever met after our initial quarrels, and that gave me hope of getting my life back on track. This was supposed to make me feel good but

Chapter 73. Chloe's POV. The sound of a monitor beeping in the distance had me switching between opening and shutting my eyes. Try as I might to come into consciousness, I ended up failing woefully as I succumbed to darkness. My thoughts before I passed out were, "Please help me." Hearing the sound of the beeping monitor again had me confused because I felt like I had died. I was in a frozen state. My entire skin couldn't move and I hoped that I was able to get something out of this. "She looks like she's beginning to wake up." "I hope you can resuscitate her." "This is beeping so loud and I'm beginning to get scared for myself." Someone said in the distance. I wanted to shout as much as I could that I could hear them and they should unplug me from that noiseome machine but that was probably not going to happen because of the probability attached to it. I could think well, I just wanted to open my eyes but it was not working. Almost as though glue has been spread over my eyel

"You look a mess." He mumbled. There was absolutely no way that I would be able to figure out what was going through his mind when his face was impassive. "Why are you here? You should be happy with everything that has been going on so far." I whispered, unable to hold in my pain anymore. He had pushed me to a point where I didn't trust him. Liam swallowed thickly again, before grabbing my hands and sending waves of heat throughout my body. I didn't know that I needed such warmth from him. "Are you sure you were not changed? This is not the Liam that I know."Liam kissed his teeth in annoyance but I refused to let him go. If he was so good at being annoyed then he had to bear the consequences and not make me feel like I was doing something out of the norm. His eyes remained fixed on my face as

Chapter 75. Chloe's POV. I'm finding it hard to believe my ears because this was just a person who left my side a few minutes ago, pretending like he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. How cruel of him to even take such a decision when he knew that I absolutely had nowhere else to go? If he was trying to make her, then we should go about it, making me feel perplexed. I looked at the Doctor who also raised his stethoscope, hoping that I didn't do something drastic. I didn't know what he thought I was, but I was not going to give them the benefit of seeing me cry, even if it was the doctor. I wouldn't be surprised if Mendy had spoken to him and asked him to waste my time so that I would not visit and see what exactly she did so that I could beat the decoration next year. "I need to go home right now. I don't care what anybody says but I need to get to my house before it is too late." I countered. He didn't know what to say but nodded anyway. I was going to destroy

I growled angrily, but she repeated the action, causing the music to get turned down even lower. "I have tolerated you long enough but it's time to finally put my foot down because now this is borderline worrisome even for you!" The doctor was at my side in an instant while I tried to figure out what the hell was going on and why I wasn't already angry with whatever was happening. I wouldn't appreciate anything that would make me lose my composure in the presence of any of the people here but I guess I had no choice. Scott decided to weigh in on the issue. "Ladies, we don't want to turn this into a sibling rivalry so we? I believe that we can talk things out." His tone, signaling anger yet intense control so that no one finds out how angry this made any of us. "She is just a trapezoid looking for

Chapter 77.Liam's POV. I would never understand Chloe's obsession for making me angry. I had told her countless times that the only time I permitted anyone into my life was when they proved themselves. Mendy looked at me as though I had betrayed her which was not entirely true because she was the one who went ahead to take reckless decisions that ended up making her drown in the happiness she wanted. I would pay attention to what was more important to either of us rather than as a couple. I had plans but she insisted on doing whatever she wanted and I gave her to Liberty so why was she making noise right now? And Chloe was also persistent. She didn't want to accept the fact that I had moved on with my life. I know she was about to play the script as though u had betrayed her when in the first place she was the one who did so. Chloe blinked at me and I felt a little remorseful but wasn't going to allow her to take me for granted. I was supposed to apologize instead and I was goin

Chapter 78. Mendy's Next Move Author's POV. Mendy waited until it was time for her to deal with the chaos that had ensued. She never imagined that this was ever going to happen. It was none of the things that she had factored in when she was going ahead with delivering the potion to Liam but now he suddenly turned against her. Not only that, he was giving the opportunity to save her but he had not taken it and had instead decided to deal with her and the presence of everyone and now that was even enough to get mad. Where in the world was it said that Liam was supposed to react to the potion so quickly? Chloe looked at her with a condescending look as she moved closer. "I see everything that you have been doing and trust me when I say that it's only a matter of time before you lose it all. I am not going to beg you nor am I going to stop you from going ahead with your plans but trust you when I see my eyes are on you and I am ready to make sure you lose." Mendy beco

Chapter 79.Chloe's POV. A sense of achievement washed through me but that wasn't enough because Liam had not returned home last night and not only that, her kids have also been annoyed with her that she had disgraced their teacher. Never in her wildest dream had she ever thought about the possibility that the kids would witness such a scenario and now blame her for it. I looked at the kids with a stunned expression. "You must be kidding me right now. Do you mean to tell me that you have not noticed everything that has been going on? Didn't you see that woman try to kill me and how I retaliated?" I didn't understand the reason for them not taking her words into consideration. It was almost as though I didn't mean a thing to them and they just wanted me out of the way. This was one of the consequences of Mendy's indoctrination. "You are not going to speak to me in the morning presently because your favorite teacher has been brought down. I inquired from her, inspecting the bottle from back to front. Sophia let out a soft chuckle, "of course I know because I have a background in medicine. I wouldn't really call it that because not everyone who tries their hands at many things, has an idea of what this might be, but whatever the case may be, I guess we don't have to worry our heads about anything.""Yeah, right. So what am I supposed to do with it?" I asked, trying to sniff it to see if I would understand a thing happening here, but it didn't work."You are supposed to just pour in a drop in his tea or coffee so that it works slowly. If you do this consecutively for fourteen days, this might help you to get rid of whatever has settled down in it to his subconscious." She explained to me. Sophia had been nothing short of a blessing to me because immediately I broug

How long would it take for mendy to cross over from her house to this arena? Was she hoping that she got caught by Chloe? Mendy arrived with the rustling of bushes as her boots scrunched through them. “I'm sorry for the delay. I needed to sort out a few things so that I didn't get caught. I hope that no one saw you when you were leaving.” “Can we abandon that and move to the reason we are here? I have been able to get her to trust me, what is the next step?” Sophia caught Mendy off. “You shouldn't speak to me in that manner just because you are doing me a favor. In case you have forgotten, you should be thankful that I gave you this opportunity.” “As if I am doing this for you.” Sophia thought inside of her but wouldn't dare utter those words so that she didn't sound opportunistic and make Mendy suspicious. “I apologize, I am on

Confused as hell but didn't want to sound or look like I wasn't polite, I looked away watching the person who was talking staring at me as I tried to figure out what exactly she was saying. "Do I know you?" I inquired, raising my eyebrows a little higher than necessary. "I don't think that you do but I do know you. You are Luna Chloe. One of the best people that we have ever had to grace our arena. I'm sure that a lot of people would regret ever coming against you. You are one of the sweetest people that I know."I recoiled, "okay, back up for a second." She chuckled softly before even advancing towards me, making me a little worried and wondering why this person was so bold to come closer when I had practically told them to stay away. I knew that some people were bold and would not desist unless there was a great reason for that. I had more than not expectations when it came to mingling with people "It would be nice if you introduce yourself after sa

She has been nothing but great to the children, especially how they behave and address people nowadays." One of the parents said. I laughed at their ignorance of the truth. How would anyone in their right senses ever think that my sister was the best thing to happen to their kids? "Haven't you listened to the way your children speak? Do you think that that is the right way things should be done? If you think so, then I would have to question everything that you represent and I'm not even joking about that." I said with so much anger. "That is the basic truth. My daughter had not picked up when she started until Miss Mendy took her in and then made her life beautiful. I know that there might be some issues between both of you but it doesn't change the fact that she is one of the best teachers over here." Another parent spoke. "She has records of people who come to give her accolades. Su

Chapter 120. Chloe's POV. Heading back home was a delight but at the same time also a problem because all I could think of in that moment was how I would be able to handle the situation perfectly without looking helter skelter or being in a dilemma Deciding to go and check up on my kids turned out to be a disheartening move, as I suddenly began to think of everything that had gone wrong. My kids deserve the best but I had not given this to them, not because I didn't want to but because I just didn't have the capacity to do so. Firstly, I encountered one of the teachers at the gate who was looking at me as though I was here on a wicked mission, this was probably the effect of my sister's methods on making everyone see me as the bad guy. "I want to see mendy." I told her, watching her bow immediately and rush off I didn't waste time going after her, passing by mendy's class I heard her teaching the kids on how to be disrespectful even if it was not as instructive as sh

I asked, holding my breath, in case things didn't go the way I expected it to."You might have to find it at all cost because then there is a huge problem than we might want to admit. I don't think that there is anything right now, but even at that we can find a way around it. I've got some new ideas." Bryan answered instead of the lady, making me wonder why he was so particular about me finding Liam's things. I wasn't at ease with the new development and would rather just relax and watch things play out naturally, but I also wasn't going to negate the fact that he might be speaking the truth. Helping me in fact was one of the greatest things anyone could do for me and I appreciated his efforts but, I was a little bit skeptical. "I don't want us to do anything that could potentially harm Liam in the future. I just want an antidote to be found in the potion and nothing more." I reiterated, so that th

It wasn't news that they would not stop until they were able to find out who was out of the house. Liam and I had not crossed paths since the last time we spoke despite living in the same house. Immediately I made peace with myself that he was under an influence. I no longer saw his offenses. Instead I saw him as a man who needed to be careful and that his ex was going to get him. Anyone else could be mad at the recent turn out of events but not me, I knew what I needed to do and was ready to do it nonetheless."I don't want anyone knowing that I'm meeting up with you that's why I'm hiding but as soon as I am able to push them away, trust me when I say that I would come out." I decided to also take laws into my hands. I needed to find out what my sister was so particular about that made her ignore the brutal signs and go for something that didn't even make any sense whatsoever. I also hated the fact that she could get away with it. Lucy's call came in almost immediately as though she had been monitoring what I was thinking of.
