ARES POV

The following day, I sat in my study, engrossed in a pile of papers Jeremy had sent me. I had no desire to go to the office or engage with outsiders. Just as I lit my third cigarette, a gentle knock resonated on the wooden door, followed by the entry of a maid.

"Good morning, Alpha Ares. Mr Lawrence has just arrived. Shall I bring him in now?" she asked.

"Of course," I replied.

She hurriedly exited, leaving the door slightly ajar, and Uncle Lawrence stepped into the room. He appeared as lively as ever, donning a dashing blue suit.

"Uncle," I said, rising to shake his hand.

"Ares, my boy," he smiled as he shook my hand, then grimaced after he had sat down. "I heard everything that happened at the coronation. Goodness me! I apologise I couldn't stay long. Something came up, and I had to attend to it urgently."

"Oh, stop it, uncle," I dismissed his apology with a wave of my hand. "Why are you apologising? It was a disaster, after all."

I rang the bell on my desk, and an instant

KALILA POVFirst and foremost, I was relieved to be back in the comfort of my bedroom. After my altercation with Ares, I didn't want to risk upsetting him again. Nova was right—I was at his mercy, and there was little I could do about it. My back still ached from sleeping on the cold concrete floor, but strangely, I hadn't felt the pain when I rushed to save Ares. I had been proven right, and the evidence was there for everyone, including Ares, to see.Yet, a restlessness gnawed at me. The looming threats that had been at the back of my mind for weeks had materialised into a concrete plan. Someone out there wanted to harm Ares, but why? I didn't know, and what troubled me,, even more, was my inability to pinpoint the culprit. If only I had noticed the key earlier, I could have discreetly sneaked out and caught a glimpse of the perpetrator. I stood in the middle of the room, racking my brain, hoping to connect the unfamiliar voices I had heard to someone I knew. However, my efforts wer

"Fine," he agreed. "Be ready in an hour."He left the room, and as he did, I noticed something intriguing. Did he smile? Oh, my word! Excitement bubbled within me, and I rushed to the wardrobe. I flung it open and sifted through my clothes. What should I wear? Panic mingled with excitement as I struggled to decide. After about ten minutes of indecision, a gentle knock sounded on my door, and Angela stepped in.Boy, was I happy to see her!"Angela, come here quickly," I called to her."There's a smile on ma'am's face," she remarked."Quick, I need your help. I don't know what to wear.""Actually, that's the reason Alpha Ares sent me here: to help you get dressed," Angela said."Really?" I was surprised."Now, if you just settle down on the bed, ma'am, I'll handle the rest, including your makeup."About forty minutes later, I walked down the stairs in a peach-coloured evening gown that fell just below my knees. I met Ares at the foot of the stairs."You don't look so bad," he remarked a

KALILA POVThe next day was dreadful, I thought all that had to do with Wendy’s sudden appearance during our walk the previous evening was done and over with, but she showed up again at the mansion, much to my annoyance. I was in the bedroom, sitting quietly on the bed and letting the rays of the sun that penetrated through the window dance on my face, while Ares was at his desk, blowing into a smoke pipe while he read some documents. His pinewood scent and that of the tobacco broiled sweetly and created a wonderful atmosphere around me, I was just content lying there. I wondered when Ares and I would get back to work, it had been three days now and everything was under Jeremy’s control, I knew the weight of the work at the office and I was beginning to get worried that our time off will wear on Jeremy. From the documents that were sent in every morning for Ares to go through, I came to the conclusion that he was working from home for the mean time while I had nothing to do. A

  • Alpha's Redemption-Countdown To 90 Days   Meeting Melissa

It was by a stroke of luck that I came across a diary in a drawer the previous night, it was Dahlia’s, her initials were scripted on the book's cover. She had a friend named Melissa in the Blue Moon pack and that made me somewhat confident that I might actually be able to get some useful information. “A friend?” he asked. “Yes, Melissa. Oh, it’s been a long while since I met her and I had promised her before moving in here that I wouldn’t stay too long away from her.” I said, staring directly at his eyes. He thought for a moment, then nodded. “Alright then, but you will not be going alone. For reasons best known to me.” He said. “For my safety?” I asked and flashed a smile at me. “You could say that. My Gamma, James and Angela will accompany you there. Dolph is too busy so James will drive you guys there.” I didn’t mind at all, as a matter of fact, I was extremely happy. He had allowed me to go rather than bluntly refusing and forcing me to stay back.. As

Kalila's POV:Other than the main tasks I was supposed to do in order to leave this world, I had been burdened with several other responsibilities. The pack office work alone was challenging enough, dealing with Ares's sour attitude and managing that snake of a person, Wendy. And now, on top of it all, I found myself consoling Dahlia's best friend.I was taken aback by her actions and even more surprised when I heard her hysterical sobbing. She cried freely on my shoulders, as if I had been her comforter for a long time—perhaps Dahlia had been. I didn't know what to say in this situation. Consoling people was not one of my strengths, and now, I was supposed to be Melissa's best friend, Dahlia. I had no idea what Dahlia would say in this moment. So, I kept stroking Melissa's hair while she muttered inaudible things that I couldn't make sense of."Oh my... you... you... I thought... oh my... I really thought..." she continued crying, and her tears soaked my shirt. From Dahlia's diary, w

KALILA POVI placed my hand on the wall and leaned against it slightly. He chuckled as he observed my movements, never taking his eyes off me. My cheeks flushed, and I couldn't control my reaction. Embarrassed, I instinctively covered my face with my hand, hoping to hide my blush."You're cute when you're embarrassed," the stranger remarked, his voice resonating with a sweet, deep baritone. Towering over me, I had to tilt my head back to meet his gaze.Cute? I had never received such a comment before. Then it dawned on me—he must be referring to Dahlia, not me, Kalila. Indeed, compliments on Dahlia's beauty were nothing new. But I doubted that Area had ever uttered such words. He was so mean and obnoxious that even if he found her attractive, he would never admit it."Thank you," I replied, bowing my head to conceal my face. Grateful for Dahlia's long hair, which partially obscured my features, I was overwhelmed by the stranger's presence. I couldn't help but avert my gaze, consumed b

ARES'S POVAs Wendy and I continued our conversation, my eyes drifted towards the massive wall clock behind her. Dahlia had been absent for nearly three hours, and time was steadily approaching the curfew I had set for her. Wendy was still speaking when she paused and requested, "Ares darling, could you fix me another drink? I'm rather fond of this particular cocktail."It was only her second glass of the day. Wendy wasn't the heavy drinker she used to be. In our younger days, she could consume up to five glasses of alcohol in one sitting. I stood up, retrieved her glass, and made my way to the corner bar. The Brandy we drank was a unique blend that I rarely shared with anyone, so I pondered why I felt compelled to offer Wendy this specific wine. I had never shared a drink with Dahlia, and even if we had, I doubted I would have shared this wine with her. After filling both glasses, I returned to our seats and handed one to Wendy. At that very moment, I heard the front door open, and D

  • Alpha's Redemption-Countdown To 90 Days   I want him dead

KALILA’S POVThe urge to reach down between my legs was overpowering. Ares's sudden presence had startled me. I had been so caught up in the excitement of my visit to the Blue Moon pack that I completely forgot about the curfew, Ares, and even Wendy's presence at the mansion. It wasn't until after my bath that I remembered all those things. The most troubling thought was that Wendy had been in the mansion the entire time I was gone, and anything could have happened between them if they were more than just friends. When Ares walked in on me, half-naked, the initial look in his eyes sent shivers down my spine. At that moment, I felt a rush of desire, and my underwear began to dampen. His eyes reflected both lust and admiration and if he had made a move or if I had been desperate enough to beg for his touch, I would have given myself to him willingly. Fortunately, I managed to conceal my emotions and asked him to leave. But when he decided to stay, I felt disappointment and renewed lust.

KALILA POV I looked up at the moon and asked, "Will Nova still be with me?" "Nova dies with you as Dahlia." The goddess replied. I cleared my throat and took a deep breath. "I wish to stay here and live as Dahlia and Ares's Luna," I said, and something like a heavy weight was lifted off my heart. The satisfaction I had been looking for just flooded into my body like a fucking tsunami. The void in me was filled to a plethora, and the smile I had been struggling with formed on my face. This was it, and this was the discovery of myself I had been searching for all this while. I was meant to be here, with Ares and the rest of them. "Very well, Kalila, your wish has been granted." She beamed at me."Just like that?" I asked, hoping an out of the body experience would happen. Like something magical to signify it was done."Just like that," The moon goddess said; it was the last I would hear of her for quite some time. I watched the moon fade as it ascended back into the dark void; sl

Three months, three whole months of torture and endurace, and love and pain had finally come to an end. I was in something like a dark hole; all around me was darkness. But something wasn't right, something wasn't right with me; I didn't feel that satisfaction; I didn't feel that plethora of happiness I had always pictured that I would feel when this moment finally came. There was a void in me, an emptiness that only increased as I felt myself growing further and further away from the Crescent moon pack, from Ares, Jeremy and Angela and Melissa, and everyone who wasn't trying to kill me, and the only question I could ask myself was 'Why?' Why was it like this? Did Nova's departure cause the emptiness in me? It could be.Nova was already a part of me; I loved her; even when we didn't see eye to eye; even when I didn't heed to her advice, I loved my wolf. I

ARES POV I sat in my study; my fingers were shaking as I smoked cigarette after cigarette. My mind was in complete turmoil; all my threats were gone, all of them. I expected a happily ever after with Dahlia; even though I knew she wasn’t who she claimed to be, it suddenly didn’t matter anymore. My love had reached new heights for her, and all I wanted in this whole world was for her to remain by my side. But I wasn’t battling just any werewolf or Lycan, and my obstacle was the Moon goddess herself.“You can’t lose her, Ares. You have to do everything within your power to keep her.” Leo said. Although inside of me, his voice was as sad as Jeremy’s. “What can I do, Leo? It’s not in my hands anymore; if it was against mere mortals, I would have handled the situation and kept my Luna. How am I supposed to hold her back if it was the wish of the moon goddess to take her?” I asked the thought of Dahlia leaving for good didn’t even want to register in my mind. “Then there’s only one th

ARES'S POVMy heart lurched when Angela rushed into my study breathlessly. I stared at her with wide eager eyes, waiting for her to deliver the news that made her so tense and seemingly excited. “She's awake! The Luna is awake, Alpha Ares, Luna Dahlia is finally awake!” She kept screaming and I jumped up from my chair and ran out of the room. When I got to the door, only then did I slow my pace and tried to act cool and collected. Although I managed to pull it off when I walked in, my heart was beating wildly and crazily. My hands were itching to touch her smooth, austere skin, my lips were craving the feel of hers. Everything in me was channeled towards her but I was Ares, I had to be calm. Jeremy was coming back today from a healer, he had been heavily wounded from the battle and had to be rushed away. The doctors did their part but Jeremy still insisted on a local healer to ensure that the scars went away quickly. After Dahlia/ Kalila and I spoke for a while and I revealed tha

KALILA’S POVThere was something about the way the guards regarded me when they led me outside the palace. I only thought about it more the next day after I woke up on a pile of carefully selected grasses. When I had stopped struggling and accepted that Ares hated and rejected me, I just let the guards take me away. Outside the pack house, they had let me go instead of dragging me all the way and I walked out with them by my side with a little dignity. I couldn’t find Jeremy anywhere, he probably didn’t want to set his eyes on me either. The guards gave me a bemoaning look before they bowed and said, “So long, Luna Dahlia.” They still acknowledged me as the Luna, I had won almost everyone over in the past two months and a few weeks. I thought about Angela and how she would react when she figured out that I was gone. Perhaps, she would be as disappointed as Ares and Jeremy after learning about the secret I had kept from them.Regardless, I wasn’t going to leave so easily, I couldn’t

ARES’S POVThe sound of the glass on the wall was like a shrill cry of a baby. It came crashing down to the floor in splinters and I just stared at it with bloodshot eyes. “Fuck!” I exclaimed aloud and bit my lower lip hard until I felt a rush of blood. This couldn’t be happening, this couldn’t be fucking happening. How could this be? How could this be real? It was absurd, it surely couldn’t be possible that another person’s spirit would take over someone else’s body. It made absolutely no sense! I looked at Jeremy who still had the diary in his hands, then Jeremy looked at me. “She didn’t take the diary with her.” He said gloomily. “She’s Kalila, she’s not Dahlia. She…she confessed it to me and I’m sure as her close friend she must have done same to you. What did she say?” I asked, dropping to one of the couches in the room. “Wait, before you sit, get me a drink.” Jeremy stood still, not moving and not obeying my orders I squinted at him and cocked my head sideways in confusion

I was reborn into Dahlia's body, I don’t know how either. You have to believe me when I say that.” I swallowed hard, feeling a lump at the base of my throat. “It was fated by the Moon goddess, she gave me instructions and told me why I was reborn here. She also gave me conditions and a mission to fulfill before I can return to the human world. And that mission is to keep Ares alive, and I had just three months.”He shook his head in disbelief and bewilderment, “That’s fucking crazy, you’re fucking crazy!” He exclaimed and I had to hold his hand again. “Jeremy, that’s the truth.
