Chapter 169

Miguel's POV

I had been very ill for quite a while now. All that time in the dungeons really took an awful toll on me.

I had been in bed for days and hadn't been able to get up. Mum came around every now and then but I wasn't in the talking mood. I didn't want to talk to her, not after all that she had done.

I managed to sit up and I looked around the room. The incense of wolfbane and rosemary was still burning on the table beside me. I took a deep breath and stood up on my feet and took a few steps around the room. Soon there was a rough knock at my door. A servant girl came in holding me meal. She looked very pale and scared.

I looked up at her and gave her a cold stare. She hastily dropped it on the table and hurried away. The guards that had brought my meals previously were really giving me a hard time. They threw glances at me and murmured unpleasant comments under their breaths. I ignored them of course. I didn't have time to get into petty squabbles with them.

I sat down and ate
