Bailey's POVI woke up so miserable on Saturday. Friday was officially the worst day of my life. I had tried to call Katie and Tyler, all day on Friday but every attempt was futile. I even used the telephone in the kitchen and Katie picked up the phone, but as soon as she heard my voice, she cut the call on me.I tried the same with Tyler but he didn't pick either. I reckoned that Katie had told him that I would try to call with the telephone and that he shouldn't answer it. Mum even called Katie's mum and asked to speak with Katie but she said that Katie didn't want to speak with me.I was all groggy in bed and I didn't want to get up. Grey came by that evening but he saw that I was in a terrible mood. He even brought a carton of mango juice for me but I left it undrunk on my dressing table. I couldn't read and I didn't want to do anything at all. I had skipped dinner and when mum brought me breakfast in the morning, I told her that I wasn't hungry. I just wanted to be in bed and be a
Bailey's POVI was unsure of where I was. I opened my eyes and all I could see were blurry faces. Where was I?"She's awake! She's awake!""Oh my goodness! Her forehead is burning up!"I felt a gentle pressure on my forehead and soon I felt a cold wet towel. I shivered at the temperature shock and soon the faces became clearer and clearer. I was in my bed and my mum was sitting beside me while Grey and Dad were standing up watching me witth worry on their faces."Mum?""Yes sweety. I'm here. Alpha Grey and your father are here as well."I exhaled and soon tears began to roll down my cheeks. I turned to look at Grey."He was really dead, wasn't he."Grey was silent and i knew that he was unwilling to answer my question. His silence had spoken more than enough."He is dead mum! Miguel is dead! Zane and Tiffany killed him!"My sobbing was uncontrollable and mum tried her best to calm me down."It's okay baby. Just calm down.""How could they treat him like that? How could Tiffany do that
Chapter 180Alpha Grey's POVI was in my office. I sat down at my newly refurbished desk and I began to wonder. I had spent so much time with Tiffany and I knew her so well. I knew that was her handwriting on Miguel's back and it was the same one I saw on Bailey after we rescued her from Blemish Pack. What did this all mean? Why did Tiffany kill Miguel? Is she the one that killed Miguel or Zane? Whatever the reason, why?I exhaled and continued to think. The words on his back blazed across my mind. We hadn't told Miguel anything. We hadn't sent him back as a spy. He wasn't working for us. This only meant that he intended to double cross Zane and Tiffany and paid for it with his life. Poor boy. I didn't like him, not since what happpened between Bailey and I. That little urchin was always in the centre of things but despite all that had happened between the both of us, he didn't deserve to die the way he did.I groaned as the image of his nearly decapitated body flashed through my mind.
Alpha Zane's POVI walked around my bedroom in slight worry. The things that councilor Zeph had told me made me worried. Grey had found out about th codex and I was very sure that he had already begun to look for it. If he found it, it would spoil my plans. I relaxed a little though when I recalled that Zeph said that no one has seen the codex in years and that Grey's father died with the knowledge. But I knew Grey. He was relentless. He would turn his entire pack upside down to find it if he had to.I was happy to have Zeph on the inside, feeding me information. This is what fear could do to your enemies. When the Sapphire was initially stolen, Zeph came to my door step to pledge his loyalty to me and agreed to work for me if I spared his life in the war. He was a smart and cunning man, brave as well, considering the fact that he chose to go against one of the most powerful Alphas. He was smart to recognise that I was now superior to Grey and soon I would take over his pack.I heard a
Bailey's POVI woke up and looked around. It was late and sky was getting darker; I wasn't even sure how long I slept.I got out of bed and headed to the window. I looked out and saw the moon in the sky. It was just a cresent; a new moon was coming in a couple of days. The sky was gradually dotted with starts and the evening air smelled crisp. Soon, my nose picked up a familiar scent. I looked to the door and saw a shadow and it was standing just outside the door. Was it my dad? What was he doing in front of my door. Wait, my dad didn't smell like that. The shadow was there for a few minutes and soon it left. I was terrified. Who had been outside my door? I had percieved this scent somewhere before but I just couldn't place where exactly. Something about it was sinister and it made me very uncomfortable. Was someone stalking me?I looked back outside and I saw a hooded figure gliding out of the pack house and soon, the figure disappeared into the forest. I didn't understand what was go
Bailey's POVSunday came and I was feeling much better. I sat in my room and was reading. My finals were tomorrow and my little episode with my friends and fainting had really put me behind. I was really trying my best to concentrate but I really missed my friends. I couldn't believe that they had stayed so long without talking to me. It really hurt. I never thought that Tyler and Katie could be so angry with me. We had alwayds gottena long adnd when we argued we made up just as fast. I could only imagine what Tyler was felling. I knew he like Katie and now, because of me, he couldn't see her and could onlysee her when our finals began.I was so tense that I was checking my phone every hour hoping that they would text me back or something but nohing came through. I was still blocked. I wanted to use the land line again but I took dad's advice and decided to leave them alone. I was going to see them tomorrow and I'd tumble out all my apologies. They were great friends and they deserve
Bailey's POVI screamed then I recognized who it was and my fear turned to anger and hate. The hand slowly withdrew from my mouth and I couldn't help the words that came out next."You!" I said icily."Hello Miss Recce."Councilor Zeph stood behind me and was smiling dastardly. I looked at his clothing and saw that it didn't match the one of the person that had been watching me. Maybe he had changed and left it somewhere in the forest."You were the one that was spying on me..."I sniffed him but I was disheartened. His scent didn't match. I was still angry at him, especially after what he said about Dad during the council meeting."Spying you say? Well, I actually see no reason to be spying on the daughter of such a proud nad arrogant Beta, now would I?"I wanted to make a lunge for him but my ankle was busted up pretty badly."What are you doing in the forest."He smiled sadisically and circled me slowly like I was his prey."No, young Miss Recce, the question is, why are you so fa
Bailey's POV"Oh no. What have I done?"As I saw the smoke, my heart began to beat out of control. I had left the pan with my spaghetti on the cooker and ran out without turning off the heat. I limped foreward as fast as I could and councilor Zeph followed after me. The smoke was thick and I could barely get to the kitchen door. Where were all the guards? I coughed as I made my way into he kitchen. The smoke stung my eyes and got deep into my lung. I fell to the ground and was coughing terribly, gasping for air. I only had to get to the cooker and turn it off and open a window. I began to crawl on the floor towards the cooker. My eyes were watery and I could barely see where I was going. Everything around me was hazy and I could feel the oxygen leaving my lungs. I tried to hold my breath so that I didn't inhale the smoke but nothing was working. I continued to crawl towards the cooker. I managed to get there and I propped myself up but my hand touched the hot cooker and was burnt.
