Alpha Grey's POV

As I sat in my chair, deep in thought, there was a loud knock at my door.

"Who is it?"

The door opened with a creak and Recce came in. His face was grim and serious. I exhaled as I saw him and gestured for him to sit but he refused.

"Alpha, I want to know when we will send a pack out to fetch my daughter?"

I looked at Beta Recce. How was I going to tell him that I was willing to keep the jewel safe at the expense of Bailey?

However, it wasn't long before he caught on.

"Alpha? Are you considering what I think you're considering?"

I looked at him with sad eyes. My mind was working fast. Was there a euphemism for 'I'm sacrificing your daughter'?

"Recce..."

But he was not interested in listening to me. He immediately began to flare up.

"How could you even consider sacrificing my daughter, your Luna? Is this how weak you have become?"

I said nothing and continued to stare into the empty void. I was going to allow him to rant. Losing his daughter was a great loss to him.
