"You don't have to do this." I could still hear the voice of my father as it drained away from my ears gradually.
"But Father, this is the perfect decision. Besides, he is my mate, the one that the moon goddess had chosen for me." I returned to him.
I drew a really deep breath, deeper than I had ever drawn all my life. This was the conversation that had taken place right before the death of my father.
I did not know how he was able to discover that I was about to give the pack over to my fated mate.
He is Alpha of the neighboring pack, they had always been the enemies until he came in and he proposed peace and that same year, I discovered that he was my mate.
I was drawn to him because he was very charismatic and I have to say that he is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in all my life.
He was head over heels for me and he would do anything all because of our love but there was a problem, a problem that made my father to make me stay away from him and find someone else as my mate.
As an Alpha heir and the future Alpha Queen of my pack, I could not get married to him expecting it was going to make a lot of things go wrong.
One of us would have to forfeit the pack to rule beside the other. But I loved him so much and I could do anything for him.
I could still remember that night I was told about the rule. I sobbed, I cried, I yelled and I kicked and for The first time since we came together, I could not find consolation in his warm embrace.
I could still remember the way that he looked into my eyes with tears in it. With genuine love and affection.
"Don't cry, my queen. I promise you that I am going to find a way around this. I am definitely." He promised me.
Then one morning, he came to me with a proposal. He wanted the both of us to rule together and I would be his Luna.
I was afraid of making the wrong decision but he had assured me that there was nothing that could certainly go wrong. We loved each other and ruling the pack was going to strengthen our bond and make the pack stronger
"Once we have children, they are going to rule the pack separately." He assured me and I nodded my head.
It took me a lot of days and I realized that I could not live nor breathe without him by my side so I made a decision to give him my pack and rule beside him as the Luna of not only my pack but both packs.
The events of the past drained away from my head as a smile hovered on my lips.
"And that is the greatest decision that I have ever made all my life," I said to myself with a smile hanging on my face.
He had been so helpful showering me with love and affection. While I continued to think about him, I heard a cracking sound from the door and I turned around to see who it was.
It was my mate Gulther.
My life was going just perfect. My step sister was the most supportive sibling any one in the world could ask for.
Though we were always at war before the death of my father, after his death, we made up and it was her initiative.
"How are you doing, my princess." He greeted me with a smile hanging on his face
I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't even realize when he came in.
"I'm doing fine." I returned.
"Today, I am going to make you my Luna and be crowned the Alpha of the pack too and we will rule together." He smiled.
He pushed a contract paper over to me and I read through it. It was the pack shifting contract.
I has signed a a part of it before but this was going to conclude it all and there was no going back. But I certainly did not care.
I took a pen without thinking about it twice. He kissed me on the lips so hard and he pulled away. I wished that he never did.
"I love you. So tonight. I will have to go now and make preparations while you sit down here and have some rest as the princess that you are." He said.
"But.." I wanted to say but he would not allow me to spit out a single word out of my mouth.
The time flew fast and it was almost time for him to announce me as the Luna of the pack. I could not wait for him to mark me as his Luna.
I got dressed as soon as the car was ready, waiting for me to be taken.
"But it's still like an hour early Princess Beauty." The head maid said to me but I was just too nervous that I could not wait anymore.
"I just have to go. I can no longer wait to see his face." I returned
I was driven over to his pack where the ceremony was going to take place.
But when I got to the venue, where the ceremony was supposed to take place, something really strange happened. I discovered that the whole place was already so crowded that I could hardly see what was happening.
My heart skipped a beat and I was really confused. "What the heck in the name of ten devils is happening here?" I thought in my head confused.
I edged my way to the front and I saw my mate, my Alpha standing With another lady with a smile hanging on his face.
I was really confused. I noticed that it was my step-sister, she had run away together with her mother a long time ago after she tried to poison my father.
I could feel my heart beating hard against my chest as though it was going to burst through.
I noticed that they turned around towards the crowd. "And I present to you the Alpha and the Luna of the crescent pack and the moon peak pack." He announced.
And my heart sank in the ocean of confusion as the crowd broke into a round of applause.
"What?" I yelled out at the sound of my voice and there was a sudden pause as everyone turned around towards me.
"Gulther, what the heck is happening here?" I inquired, staring right into his eyes.
I could already feel tears forming at the corner of my eyes but I was able to push it backwards almost immediately.
I could not abhor negative thoughts in my head, at least not yet.
I stared at him for a while waiting for him to give me an explanation
"Oh, you came early. You can join the proceeding." He noted with a gray of laughter hanging on his lips
I stared at him for a while and I had to say that I was even more confused than I had been in the first instance.
I stared at my step-sister who was all smiles and I stared back at him.
"Jennifer? and what is all this Drama for?" I Inquired but immediately I spat out the words from my mouth, his face squeezed into a scornful frown while we Walked gradually towards me
"Luna Jennifer. You will refer to her as Luna Jennifer and I would not have you refer to my mate in such a manner you fool." He fired back at me with a hateful sneer and I could not believe the words that I just heard him saying.
"Yeah you heard him bitch, Luna Jennifer." She growled at me
I froze right on the spot still trying to compensate what was going on in my head.
He referred to me as a fool. Thoughts were clashing in my head. My lips broke into a sad smile as a strand of tears escaped from my eyes.
It was as though I was running mad or something and emotions were beginning to clash gradually in my head.
"Tell me that this is not true Gulther. This has to be some sort of job right? I promise you that I am going to understand." I Said to him but from the look that was hanging on his face, this was certainly not a joke.
"You're that stupid. The only joke here is on you." He returned to me and it was as though he had pierced a glass right through my heart.
I fell to the ground and began to sob. I remember the moment that we shared, they were all gone. He had Betrayed me. All this while, he had only been using me because of what he stood to gain and nothing other than that.
Then it struck me, my pack was all his, and I was left with absolutely nothing.
No, I could not let that happen. Not in this life. I drew a really deep breath and I stood up from the floor that I laid.
"Why did you decide to do this to me, Gulther? After everything that I have already done for you. Is this the promise that you made to me? To always be by my side?" I Inquired staring right into his eyes with tears in my eyes.
"Well too bad, the deed has already been done." He shot the words out of his mouth.
"My father, my people have always wanted your pack which was once ours until your grandfathers took it away from us after the great conference. But when I became the Alpha of the pack, I came up with a plan for what I was going to do. Deceived that I am your mate and I had to consult a diviner for that and a Witch and herb was made for me So that I was going to smell like I was your mate. And too bad for you, you fell for it." A burst of dark laughter from his mouth.
The words that he just spat out from his mouth tore my heart into a million shreds.
So he wasn't my mate all this while and I have always been deceived.
"And you supported him in this madness?" I Inquired.
She didn't say a single work. She raised her sleeve and I saw his mark. I got the message immediately as more tears trekked down from my eyes. She was his true mate.
My legs shivered on the floor.
"After you collided with father to kill my mother saying that she is a witch. What were you thinking that I was going to just seat back and let you go scout free. It was in the moment of my grief that I found him and it turned over that he was mt mate."
"A a perfect match!" Gulther kissed her on the lips.
I stared into his eyes With so much hate and I used that I could just tear him apart.
I advanced slowly towards him to rip him apart but I was held back by two guards.
I tried as much as I could to break free from their strong grip but they held my hands so tightly that my skin cells could hardly breathe.
I yelled, I kicked but there was nothing that could be done.
"I am going to make sure that you pay for this. All of it." I yelled at him and he sneered back.
"Let's see how you are going to do that." He returned to me.
He clapped his head slightly and I noticed that a room was opened, right behind the stage my eyes brightened almost immediately and I gasped. I could not believe what I just saw. It was all the elders of my pack, all down in cold blood.
I spread my hands over my mouth as tears found its way out of my eyes down to my lips
I was lost in a trance. He wasn't just a betrayer, he was a murderer. A Beast. I continued to stare at them and it seemed as though for a while, I was totally out of this world and transmigrated to another.
Then, I felt a sharp pain in my chest and I looked down. Covered in blood as a gasp of pain escaped from my mouth.
I looked up at him still in blood. It was a silver dagger. Before I could say another word, he pulled the dagger out and Stabbed me again.
"Maybe this is where it has to end, but remember that I still love you." He whispered into my ears but I didn't fail to recognize the sarcasm in his voice.
"I hate you so much. So much that I hate the devil or even more." I growled at him as he pushed me away from the dagger and I crashed to the floor.
My death was painful and I was gasping for breath. If I ever had a second chance or another life, I was going to make sure that I made him pay for all of this with his worthless life.
It was the day that her mate was going to mark her as his after she had given up everything for him.
But it turned out that she had this thing for her step-sister and to shut her mouth up, he killed her.
The both of us ventured to Coco's quaint and welcoming shop, a place filled with the comforting aroma of incense and the soft tinkling of wind chimes. It was a sanctuary of serenity amid the chaos of our enigmatic quest, a place where we could share our deepest concerns and seek solace in each other's presence. Coco greeted us with a warm smile as we entered her shop, sensing the gravity of our visit. We settled into the cozy nook by the window, surrounded by shelves adorned with mystical trinkets and ancient books. With a blend of unease, I began to recount the unsettling visions that had plagued me – the spectral girl, the waterlogged bodies, and the nightmarish river. Coco listened attentively, her eyes filled with empathy and understanding, as if she could feel the weight of my experiences.
Amidst the disorienting maelstrom of her vision, as Sam was inexorably drawn closer to the enigmatic river's depths, she glimpsed a figure emerging from the shadows. It was the same ethereal girl, the one she had encountered before in her unsettling dreams and visions. Her presence was as eerie as ever, a haunting specter in the nightmarish tableau. The girl's features remained elusive, obscured by an otherworldly aura, and her eyes held a depth of knowledge that seemed to transcend time and reality. She watched Sam with an inscrutable expression, her presence both disconcerting and strangely familiar. As Sam's journey down the dark river continued, more macabre elements of her vision began to manifest. The waterlogged bodies that had previously appeared in the waters of her bookstore bar now floated eerily around her, their lifeless forms suspend
Further into workout time at the bookstore bar, I stood behind the counter, gazing out of the window as the last traces of daylight faded into the evening. The tranquil atmosphere of my shop was shattered once again when I heard a scream. I rushed to the window, my heart pounding, and my worst fears were confirmed. There, in the dim twilight, I saw the silhouette of a lifeless body floating in the water. Dread washed over me as I realized that Randy wasn’t the one behind the rape and killings. He must have been sent if bodies keep appearing Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized that whoever was after me wouldn’t quit torturing innocent women. Anguish and rage coursed through me, but amidst the turmoil of emotions, I knew one thing for certain – I had to find the person responsible for this sinister chain of events. My mind raced as I tried to connect the dots, searching for any clues or patterns that would lead me to the elusive enemy. I retraced the moments leadin
As I waited anxiously on the couch, I knew I didn’t have to worry about forgetting anything. Clive always had everything meticulously prepared for me, down to my underwear. The thought of his thoughtfulness brought a small smile to my face, even in the midst of my fear. When I heard a knock on the door, my heart leaped into my throat. The uncertainty of whether it was Gulther or Clive sent shivers down my spine. I hesitated, frozen in fear, until my phone buzzed with a text from Clive. Relief washed over me as I read his message, confirming his presence at my door. I rushed to the door and swung it open, my heart pounding. Seeing Clive’s familiar face filled me with a mix of emotions—relief, gratitude, and a deep sense of trust. I hugged him tightly, feeling safe in his embrac
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Clive’s face as he lay beside me. I watched him sleep for a moment, his chest rising and falling with each peaceful breath. The world outside felt distant and unimportant in this fleeting moment of tranquility. My fingers traced the contours of his face, memorizing every detail—the strong jawline, the delicate curve of his lips, and those piercing, crimson eyes that had captured my heart. I marveled at the way love had brought together two beings from opposite sides of the supernatural divide. As I leaned in and gently kissed his forehead, Clive stirred, his eyes fluttering open to meet mine. A soft smile graced his lips, and he pulled me closer, our bodies entwined in the warmth of the sheets. In that embrace, we forgot about the complexities of our respective worlds—his as a vampire and mine as a werewolf. All that mattered was us, here and now. But, as it often happens, the peace was abr
"Sam, I can't even begin to imagine what you've been going through," Clive said softly, his words filled with empathy. "But I want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what." His unwavering support was a source of comfort, and I found myself opening up to him about my fears, my doubts, and the unsettling suggestion of black magic that Coco had introduced. Clive listened intently, his presence on the other end of the line a lifeline in a sea of uncertainty. After discussing the nightmarish vision and Coco's insights, Clive made a suggestion that surprised me. "Why don't I come over, Sam?" he proposed. "It might be easier to talk in person, and we can explore this black magic idea together." I agreed to his suggestion, feeling a mixture of relief and anticipation. Hav
In the nightmarish vision that held me captive, the boundaries of reality and unreality blurred further, leaving me ensnared in a grotesque and surreal landscape. The relentless figures, their forms twisted and nightmarish, closed in around me like vengeful spirits hungry for my torment. Every attempt to move, to escape the paralysis that bound me, proved futile. The weight on my chest was an invisible vice, crushing the breath from my lungs, and my limbs remained immobilized, as if shackled by unseen chains. Panic coursed through me, and I could feel the cold sweat on my brow as I struggled to regain control over my body. The whispers grew louder and more insistent, their words now forming a sinister narrative that echoed through the twisted void. They spoke of ancient curses and malevolent entities, painting a chilling picture of the supernatural forces that held sway over this nightmarish realm. The erratic flickering of the neon lights above cast eerie, dancing shad
Coco's story had cast a shadow over our conversation, leaving a lingering sense of unease in its wake. Her eyes held a mix of compassion and concern as she leaned closer, her voice lowered to a hushed tone. "Sam," she began gently, "I know it might sound unconventional, but considering what you've been through, have you ever thought about exploring the possibility of using black magic to find answers or to protect yourself?" Her suggestion hung in the air, a palpable shift in the conversation's tone. I hesitated, my thoughts a tumultuous whirlwind of doubt and uncertainty. The idea of delving into the arcane and the unknown was both alluring and terrifying. Coco, ever the persuasive friend, began to share stories of individuals who had turned to such practices as a last resort, finding
In the days that followed the unsettling events and revelations, my life settled into a somber rhythm, marked by a cautious return to a semblance of normalcy. Before I resumed working at my bar, there was a period of introspection and support from my friends. Each morning, as the sun cast its gentle rays upon my apartment, I would awaken to the gentle sounds of the city outside my window. The memories of my recent ordeal still haunted my dreams, leaving me with restless nights and moments of reflection in the quiet hours before dawn. My days were often spent in solitude, grappling with the myriad emotions and unanswered questions that swirled within me. The city outside buzzed with its usual activity, yet I felt detached from the bustling world beyond my doorstep. The weight of the pendant's mystery and the looming threat of unseen adversaries cast a shadow over my every thought. Throughout this period, Clive, Dave, and Dr. Underfoot remained unwavering pillars of supp
