*Bellatrix*

"I can do anything ma'am, anything. I just need a job, that's all" I blinked my eyes at the elderly woman who happened to be running this restaurant which was one of winter pack's renowned restaurant and from my findings, Alpha Alec sometimes visited the place.

Crossing the territory had been easy, since I was not a wolf and so here I was trying to find a reason to at least stay in the pack for some time before getting to the Alpha's mansion.

"I told you, there is no vacancy child. All the posts has been filled up."

"Even if I have to clean the floor round the clock, I will do it." I said urgently.

"You really need a job that bad?" A young lady interrupted, just as the elderly woman was about to reply me.

The lady was a Wolf, I noticed seeing green flakes swirling in her eyes. "Leila, you are here? When did you get back huh?" The elderly lady asked her.

Leila smiled. "I just got back this morning Hera, I haven't even gotten home. Where are the rest?"

"They left a while ago, they had to take care of some stuffs. Are you going to meet Alec right away?"

My ears instantly piqued with curiosity at the mention of Alec. Probably it is the Alpha? "Uhm, excuse me? Please is there any place around here I can get a job? I really need this to be able to send my sister to school." I lied.

The lady, Leila looked at me and then she patted my back. "I can see you are really desperate, you are in luck because I do have a work you can do and it would pay you well"

"Oh really! Thank you ma'am, thank you so much" I exclaimed, feigning excitement.

She smiled at me again and grabbed hold of my hand. "Come with me dear. I will see you again Hera"

Hera waved at her as she led me outside towards her car. "Come on in"

I entered, just as she got into the driver's seat and started the car. "So what's your name?" She inquired.

"Bellatrix" I replied with a soft smile.

"I see, and you do know about us Lycans don't you? Or perhaps you don't?"

"I know a bit, but not quite much. I know this is the winter pack territory though."

"Good, because you will be working for the Alpha of the pack." Leila stated with a nod of her head.

If I wasn't trying to hide my identity, I would have started to jump for joy at the easy access I just got into the Alpha's home. Now all I had to do was keep myself hidden and still get secrets that would normally be kept in the confinements of that house. Now though, I was starting to wonder who Leila was and how she knew Alpha Alec so well.

~

"The Alpha has made it known that he is not going to receive any visitors, and we cannot disobey his orders."

This was probably the hundredth time these shifter guards had been saying those words since we arrived at Alpha Alec's magnificent mansion. I felt like pulling their hairs out for keeping us waiting.

What kind of Alpha keeps his visitors waiting anyway? More reason why I hated their kinds. Leila rubbed her eyes frantically, she was also getting frustrated. "Tell Alec I am going to break this door if he won't let me in!" She growled.

"I am sorry we can't do that, as you know The Alpha is mourning the loss of his mate."

I gasped inaudibly at the information. He lost his mate? How could he have lost her? Rogues?

"For the past three fucking months! Goddamnit! Julianne was my best friend too! Is he gonna reject his duties because of a mate that won't come back?!.

There was silence for a while after Leila's outburst, then the guards pushed the door open. "Alpha says you can come in." I guessed he had told them through a mind link.

Forget the outer part of the house, the inside was much better, chandeliers hung around the ceiling, but before I could continue admiring the place, I heard a deep voice from the top of the stairs.

"Why did you come Leila?" My head snapped to the owner of the voice and I automatically froze. A tall 6'9 feet man stood on the stairs, his arms folded on the railings as he stared down at us. I scrutinized him. His grown-out hair, the thick, shaggy beard and a haunted look in his eyes that made him seem that he just arrived from a distant planet. Beneath them though, I could see the remnants of a strikingly gorgeous man, with the blue flicks swirling in his eyeballs it was all I could do to keep my jaw from dropping at the sight of him, but I was there to do a job and drooling over this so called Alpha was certainly not the plan.

"Because one of us decided to ignore his Pack needs because of a death that was inevitable!" Leila snapped in reply to his question.

Alec sighed and walked down the stairs. "Ryan is handling it okay"

"There is little a Beta can do compared to his Alpha. Goddess! Alec, you have to get over this already"

"Who is she?" He nodded at me, completely ignoring her latter statement. How rude of him.

"Your caretaker." That shocked me and i glanced at Leila with a questioning look.

"What the actual fuck, Lee!" Alec exclaimed, his eyes roaming from her to me and back to her. "I do not need a caretaker! I am not an invalid!"

Leila shrugged, unconcerned by his outburst. "You fit every description of an invalid brother. Have you even looked in the mirror to see how shabby you appear?"

Oh. So she is sister.

"I have maids—" he started to say.

"That you sent away" Leila cut him off with a wave of her fingers.

"I am the Alpha, Lee! Stop countering my words!" He snapped.

"Then act like one Alec! Mother instructed me to hire a caretaker for you, and I did so you had better live with the fact that this lady is staying here with you till you decide to get back on your feet and you are going to resume your duties as Alpha of this pack whether you like it or not!" Leila concluded and without looking back she stormed out of the house, leaving me standing in front of a furious Alec.

She did not even explain my work to me. What the hell was I going to do with an obvious brokenhearted furious Alpha who is standing at least two feet taller than me?

"Um, hi?" I stuttered a greeting, scratching the back of my neck.

Alec looked me over, shaking his head at me. "You should leave, I do not need your services" he said and started to walk away.

"I'm afraid I can't do that, Alpha Alec" I countered, stopping him in his tracks.

"Lady, leave while I am being nice or you won't like the outcome" He growled, still not looking back at me.

Fucking hell! Why is he being so hardheaded. I cleared my throat and placed my hands on my hips in a bid to pull off a nonchalant stance. "Perhaps I want to know the outcome, Alpha Alec."

"I said you wouldn't like it"

"I am here to do a job that I would be paid for, so I do not care."

My smart mouth would definitely put me in trouble in this place. Not like I would have naturally cared but in this kind of situation I probably should care definitely.

"Fuck you Lee!" He growled and turned back to face me, his eyes had changed colors, they were like a burning blue flame.

Well, well, well. I think I just pissed off this Lycan Alpha.

Alec stalked towards me, reaching out, he grabbed my arms and then pressed me against the nearest wall, and in a silent order that could not be missed, he whispered.

"Stay the fuck away from me, lady!"

*Alec* I had watched her die. I had seen her life taken forcefully from her while I stood there and did nothing. My Julianne, my mate. The pain I felt now was unbearable. No one understood, they didn't understand what it feels like to loose one's mate. Even Lex my wolf had gone berserk in my head and since Julianne died I hadn't been able to shift, I hadn't even spoken to him in a while. I do not even know if he still there. My family thought I was overreacting, even Ryan my beta thought I had gone insane, but they didn't understand what it is especially for a Lycan of my kind — I am a white wolf, which is very rare, and every white wolf had a curse and that is, we are only entitled to one mate. There is nothing like a second chance mate for us. So when I lost Julianne, I lost my one shot at happily ever after and now stupidly enough, my mother sister had to go and hire a caretaker for me. I heaved in a sigh as I ran my hands through my hair, they were right though.. I had to get ba

*Bellatrix* I already knew to expect Tee's call, so when I saw his name flashing on my phone's screen as I lay down on the king sized bed it wasn't a surprise. I swiped my screen and sat up. "Bellatrix" his deep voice boomed from across the phone. "You got into his house, didn't you?" "I did, although I'm quite sure you already know somehow, so that isn't why you called." "You are smart." He remarked with a chuckle. "If I weren't, I wouldn't have survived being a lone wolf hunter." I retorted. "Easy on the sharp tone Bellatrix, after all we are allies." "Why did you call? Because you should know I do not have any information yet, besides you haven't even specified what I'm really doing here for you." There is a pause at the end of the phone, before Tee spoke again, ignoring my last sentence. "You know, when I make a deal with a person, what I detest the most is it being wavered by whatever the cause may be." I scoffed, rolling my eyes even if he couldn't see me. "What are you

*Bellatrix* For some reason, I didn't put on the earrings yet, instead I slipped them into my purse as I followed Alec out to his garage. I stared at the two vehicles parked there and I scoffed inwardly, why would dogs need cars? That just beats me. "Alpha, would you mind if I drive you?" I had almost forgotten that there were two guards guarding the house. I turned my eyes to them as they stood behind us. "That won't be necessary Kent, You both should go and joined the others at the boarders.. I might be away for a while." Alec replied them. "Are you visiting the Pack house?" The one beside Kent whose name I didn't know, asked. "Yes, I am.. Now please leave. The pack needs the security you can offer more than I do." "Yes Alpha." They replied, bowing in unison. The drive to the pack house or wherever it is we were going was unbearably quiet, and we finally got to our destination I immediately let out a sigh of relief. I snorted as Alec opened his door and got down, expecting m

"Are you going to stare at me all day instead of picking the damn call!," he snapped. "Oh, sorry.." I stuttered and looked away. Slowly, I pulled out the phone and I would swear my heartbeat rate increased as I saw Tee's name flashing on the screen. "One minute please" I muttered to Alec and hurriedly walked a good distance away from him before picking the call. "What? I thought you were all knowing and you should have been aware where was." I snapped immediately I put the phone on my ear. Tee tsked from the other end of the phone. "You didn't put on the earring Bellatrix" He said. I scoffed with a roll of my eyes. "There was nothing to hear." I could almost hear him growl, "you do not want to test my patience Bellatrix" "Isn't it too early to make threats, Tee?" *Alec* Mate.. Lex's word kept ringing in my head as I made my away from the garage, walking as fast as I could back into the pack house. It was so fucking strange and totally unbelievable, how on earth could Bellatrix be my mate, in fact why would I have another mate? It didn't make sense, but my wolf couldn't be wrong could he? I walked into the pack house, ignoring the greetings from the pack members that were still around and stormed into my office upstairs, it was the office I used whenever I spent more than a day here. I collapsed on the sofa, stuffing my hands into my hair as I groaned in frustration. It didn't take long before Hera whom I had mind linked on my way here entered the room. Hera was the pack's witch and she was also a werewolf which made her an hybrid. She always had answers to every questions if I do not exaggerate, so she should know what this meant. "Alpha Alec, your impromptu summoning of me seemed urgent, anything wrong?" She asked, and as she spoke I knew

It was a trail of fire, fierce burning fire and even as I ran, it kept following me, ferociously spreading and almost getting closer.. I kept running, my breath coming out in short gasps and whimpers, it was then I caught sight of the familiar water, the crystal blue emittance sparkling from contact with the rays of sunlight and without thinking I dived Into it. .. "Bella! Bella wake up!" The voice sounded distant and strange. No one called me Bella. "Bella, can you hear me?" I jerked my eyes open, instantly sitting up but I immediately regretted it as a jolt of pain zapped right through my head. I whimpered, just as a strong pair of hands laid me back down. "Easy.." The owner of the hand said, and it took a while for me to recognize that voice. "Alpha Alec?" I gasped turning to stare at him. He sat down by the bed, looking as handsome as ever. "Are you

I snatched my hands away from Alec's grip and bolted down the stairs out of the house. Alec didn't call me back nor did I want him to, because if he did, the overwhelming sensation coursing through me might trigger me to do something rash and that was the last thing I wanted. I kept running even after I had left Alec's house and I didn't stop until I got to the bus station that led out of Howls — The residing town of the winter pack territory. The bus came around and I entered, making my stop at the T-junction that led to Faye's coffee where I was to meet Tee. My eyes scanned the shop when I entered to see if Tee was already there, turns out he was. Dressed in an almost similar outfit as the first time i had met him, only that this time he had on a hoodie with his sunglasses. He waved his hands at me from the far end where he sat

I mean as long as we are here, we should try to live a normal life" We had arrived Howls yesterday after securing an house to stay. It was rented out to us at a cheap price so I didn't mind the cleaning that had to be done to make it feel a little like home. Not like I couldn't afford a better one, but so far at the rate the number of humans moving to Howls kept increasing, this was the only vacant house we could find. Not like I really cared, we weren't going to be staying for long anyway. Karen raised her eyebrows at my earlier reply to her. "Our lives can never be normal Sis, we both know that." He is asleep. I sigh. The ropes binding us are laced with dark magic. I know, because I have tried to loosen it out, but each it keeps sending jolts of painful electric bolts down my spine. I bit my lips in anger. This shouldn't be like this. This shouldn't fucking end like this. I shut my eyes, wishing that he was here.. Alec. "No proper training, and yet you call yourself the chosen" I jerk out of my train of thoughts and glance at my brother. "You were not sleeping" I state. He rolls his eyes, "Who sleeps in a situation like this?" I gulp, short of words. My brother is disappointed in me and I have no idea what to do, exept- "You speak like it was my choice, brother" I finally say, holding his icy stare. "Everyone has a choice, Bellatrix!" Six hours left."Hera, are we set?"Hera appears how of thin air, holding a book. "What's that?" "Just come with me" Coming with Hera meant her taking us to the pool of transition which was now unfreezed. I glance back at the pack house and it as silent as a graveyard, hopefully there won't be any attacks on my pack while I am away seeing that I am leaving Hera in charge.Hera places the book beside the bank of the pool, kneels and starts to chant incoherent magical words. She then brings out a knife and asks me to stretch my fingers, I do, and in flash she swipes the knife over my thumb, blood spills out and lands in the pool.I don't say anything as my thumb starts to heal. She knows what she is doing."What the hell!" Karen mutters from behind me. The pool starts to shake, and the water shoots

Thankfully, I notice it is not only Alec that is here. He is here with Ryan, Leila and a bunch of warriors. War is really sneaking up on us as fast as possible. I watch with guided eyes as we now stand on opposite side, a fallen trunk of tree separating us. "You are a King, but you sneak up on your subjects for war, how very low of you" Alec grits out to Steven. "You were never my subject from the beginning, Alexander. The stupid prophecy made sure of that" With those words, Steven lunges forwards with an inhuman speed, aiming for Alec's head. I scream out in warning as he makes contact but nothing else happens. His fist meets thin air, right between the two leaders. Everyone gasps, It appears that Steven's attack failed because Alec simply raises his hand, palm out and Steven stops dead in his tracks. "I need to go back to Astrid," I think that does something because he snaps his head over to me so fast he nearly gets whiplash.”Why?!” he demands. His voice is harsh and rough. "You can't!" he practically shouts. I stay silent for a few seconds, he speaks again, "Bella" this time it is quieter. He sounds desperate. Now I grin at him, "You didn't want to talk before, I got your attention with that" Alec doesn't look amused, just irritated.
