"You won't kill me, Raphael. You know the answer well," Winter pronounced with a confident tone.
He furrowed his brows together and settled the teacup on the saucer. "Because you think you are my mate, so you are in an illusion that I will show mercy on you. If I had considered you my mate even for a moment, I would have kept you above my eyes. Now, speak respectfully to me, or else I'll have to teach you a lesson on mannerism," Raphael elaborated to her.
Winter was hurt to hear his words. But she couldn't even keep high hopes. She felt her feet hurting since her body was still weak.
"Come here," Raphael said.
Winter stepped up when he asked her to sit. She gazed at him for a few seconds before pulling out the chair and sat on it. With that, she felt better.
"Since you were a princess, you must know how to read and write. Help me in my writing work daily. I am not used to writing decrees, orders, etc." Raphael said.
"Shouldn't His Majesty be asking someone more prestigious in rank?" Winter inquired him.
"Since you are my personal attendant, a maid, then I shall ask you to work for me," Raphael opined.
"I refuse," Winter replied.
"You cannot refuse," Raphael said.
"You can't force me," Winter affirmed.
Raphael quirked up his eyebrows and asked, "When did I force you? I gave you an order, but you refused to take that. Could you elaborate me which part of my statement appeared like forcing you?"
Winter chose to remain silent and lowered her head. She continued to fiddle with her fingers, waiting for him to finish the tea. But it appeared to her that he was deliberately sipping the tea slowly.
"Brew one more cup for me," Raphael said.
Winter momentarily gazed at him and then stood up from her place. She prepared another teacup for him and placed it on the saucer for her.
"Sit back," Raphael said and she complied with his order.
"Do you know how to massage?" He asked a question, which made her dagger-like eyes look at him. "If not, then you need to learn. I love taking a massage," he stated.
"Forgive me, Your Majesty, but I have to decline this," Winter humbly said.
"You can't refuse. It's an order, Winter," Raphael reminded her. His fingers tapped on the rim of the teacup.
"This way His Majesty will ask me to give him a bath too," Winter muttered, anger suddenly lacing in her voice.
"Well, I didn't think of that. However, now, you have suggested this to me, so I'll call you only to assist me in the bath. Why to call the other maidservants when I have you?" Raphael musedly asked and took another sip again.
Winter kept glaring into his eyes. "Finish the tea quickly," she said.
"I'll drink at a slow pace," Raphael affirmed. "Why did you get abused by your father?" he asked.
"Why should I tell you?" Winter inquired.
"Perhaps only I can feel your emotions since I'm your mate," Raphael remarked.
Winter scrunched her brows. "Why are you making me feel low? I understand you loath me, but don't play your dirty game this way," Winter proclaimed.
"I think your brain has a problem. I asked you a simple question, yet you took an entirely different meaning of my concern," Raphael clarified to her.
"That night in the dungeon Ezkiel blamed you, which confused me. I thought in the last moments, parents were usually worried for their kids, but it didn't happen," he further explained.
"Father hated me since the moment my mother died," Winter said.
Raphael felt pity for Winter. "I wish you weren't Ezkiel's daughter," he proclaimed.
"Don't pity me. You are also like the others. I don't care what you think of me anymore," Winter asserted while controlling her tears from falling.
"Don't compare me with your evil father. He didn't kill only my parents, but hundreds of others along with many kids. You are the daughter of the most evil person and you will pay for all his crimes," Raphael stated, boring her eyes with his penetrating gaze.
"I understand," Winter said and left her seat again. She snatched the teacup from him, spilling a little on his waistcoat accidentally, and put it on the tray along with the saucer. Collecting the teapot, she left his sight.
"What a nasty temper she possesses!" Raphael muttered as he looked at his white waistcoat. The tea stain was now there.
Winter reached the kitchen and placed the tray on the counter.
"Winter, you need to wash the utensils in the backyard of the kitchen," said the head servant, Lady Emelia.
Winter picked up the tray too and went outside to wash the utensils. Her eyes widened to see hundreds of utensils big and small, placed in the washing area. She never had done such work before.
"Don't delay anymore and do the work quickly. You need to do the other chores as well," Lady Emelia said in a terrorizing voice.
"Lady Emelia, but how will Winter wash so many utensils? Should I help her?" One of the servants asked out of kindness.
"Whoever will help Winter be punished!" Lady Emelia said in a loud enough voice, causing the servant to lower her head.
Winter sat on the stool and took the water in a wooden mug. Using the charcoal she was supposed to wash them. She began applying it on the copper plates, glasses, and bowls first. It was a tiring task. Lady Emelia was no longer present there.
It took more than an hour for Winter to wash those utensils. Her back was hurting badly because of the weakness. Her hands were soar too and looking red.
"I wish I were never born as a princess," Winter whispered, cursing her bad fate. She collected all the utensils to take them to the kitchen when Lady Emelia suddenly appeared and checked them.
"Wash them again," Lady Emelia ordered.
"What? I just washed them," Winter said.
"They should shine," Lady Emily gave a crisp answer and asked Winter not to talk back with her.
Winter nodded and apologized for her mistake.
"His Majesty wants to see Winter," Nathan's voice reverberated in their ears. "Follow me," he said.

"Why does Raphael want to see me?" Winter inquired, puzzled, as Nathan escorted her to the main region of the palace.Nathan shook his head. "His Majesty didn't share the details with me," he replied, then noticed Winter's hands. He couldn't help but remark, "It must have been tough for you, washing all those utensils."Winter nodded and her expression grew somber. "It was indeed difficult. However, performing such chores helps me momentarily forget what has happened to me, how I've lost even the good people around me," she explained, her words laden with the weight of sorrow and loss."My father was indeed cruel, so I feel what happened with him was right," Winter said after a brief pause. Nathan glanced at her. He liked the fact that she was still strong in such a situation. She was standing her ground and had become fearless. "It's unfair that those who have no fault have to pay too sometimes," he affirmed. "Did my father kill your parents too? My apology will never end that pain
"Your cheeks flushing red," Raphael said and he smirked. He asked her to turn to the other side since the medicine needed to be applied to the other arm too. Winter complied with him and turned her back to him. "You got kind of a unique surprise on your 18th birthday," Raphael proclaimed. His fingers gently rubbed over her bruise. "Are you mocking me?" Winter inquired him. "Do you also think I'm a jinx?" Her tone was laced with fury and frustration. "You got a present on your birthday," Raphael ignored her questions and shifted his fingers to the third bruise on her forearm. Winter quickly moved away and stood up on her feet. "Nathan said you kept me alive because, in your eyes, I was innocent. Is that true? Why do you treat me in a way that gives me more pain?" she asked him. "I was being gentle to you," Raphael proclaimed. "No. Your words make me hurt," Winter asserted. "I don't want to be near you. Don't call me when you have no work for me," she opined. "You cannot step out
Winter frowned as the Wolfsbane touched his skin, he tried holding his wince, but could not. Both Nathan and Hector left their places to rush toward their King. "You are hurt," Winter said with a worried expression and she held his arms. "Raphael, why did you–" Cecilia couldn't complete her words as he asked her to shut her mouth. Though he was in excruciating pain, he turned to look at Cecilia with disdain. "I won't punish you for what you just did because you were my friend. Let's not see each other ever again," Raphael stated and walked out of the dining hall in fury. Winter followed him because Raphael needed immediate attention. "You have completely lost your mind," Nathan told Cecilia with a disgust in his tone. Hector, though, didn't say anything to her, but his gaze expressed his angry emotions toward her. On the other side, Raphael reached his bedchamber somehow and fell on the bed. The Wolfsbane had an immediate effect on his body, making him a bit weak. Beads of sweat
Cecilia was extremely furious and disappointed in Raphael. All she desired was an act of complete revenge against Winter, but why did he have to go to this extent and save his enemy’s daughter?“I just hope you don’t die yet," Cecilia asserted. “I will leave if you want me to, but don’t expect me to sit back and let you do what you want.” She murmured and returned to her room to collect her things and leave the palace as soon as possible. Cecilia looked at the servants and asked them to pack her belongings quickly. She had no intention to stay in the palace for another second. A maidservant walked in and informed Cecilia about Nathan and Hector. “Why are you two here?” Cecilia crossed her arms together as she saw them walking in.“If we had waited, would you have let us in?” Nathan inquired and looked at the servants, who were packing Cecilia’s clothes.“I do not want to talk with the two of you,” Cecilia stated and averted her gaze from them. “Even if you two stop me, I won’t. I am
Winter’s legs were aching as Raphael asked her to keep standing next to his bed. When the water went above her head, she opened her mouth to speak, “Why are you punishing me? I did not ask you to send your friend away from the palace.”Raphael opened his eyes and glanced at her. “It happened because of you. I never once fought with Cecilia,” he affirmed, blaming her for what happened earlier. Winter chuckled at his comment. “Your Majesty asked me to have meals with them. If His Majesty thinks I am the reason for his problems, then he should let that wolfsbane fall on me. Your revenge would have been completed that way,” she taunted him. Raphael frowned at her harsh remarks. “I want you to suffer gradually,” he reminded her. “Just accept that you feel weak because I am your mate,” Winter said with a challenging tone. “And why do you think you are so important for me to feel weak in front of you?” Raphael said, slipped out of his bed, and approached Winter.Raphael was inches away f
Winter pulled away, shooting a sharp glance at Raphael in response to his unexpected kiss. However, he gently anchored his hand on the back of her head and once more drew her into a kiss.As an omega, Winter possessed an allure that heightened Raphael's attraction toward her. His resolve to resist her was tested when her icy fingers grazed his skin. Despite his efforts, his restraint crumbled as Winter unwittingly drew near to him.Raphael skillfully nibbled at her lips, his body emanating an uncharacteristic intensity of warmth. As his teeth lightly brushed against her lips, she stifled a muted gasp, uncertain of what might follow. Yet, he maintained the kiss's innocence, keeping it pure. With a smooth motion, he rose to his feet, drawing Winter up alongside him. Positioned on the elevated platform of the bathtub, her head hovered just inches above Raphael's.As Raphael pulled Winter into the huge bathtub, the soap bar fell off her hand, and she emitted another gasp. The sensation of
Raphael gathered with Nathan and Hector in the private chamber discussing with them regarding the change of the kingdom's name. "We need to talk with the other officials once about this. Then, His Majesty can pass the decree related to the change of the kingdom's name," Hector advised. "Of course, tomorrow in the court council this matter will be discussed," Raphael explained. "Did His Majesty tell about this to Winter?" Nathan queried. "I did. She doesn't care," Raphael replied. "What did Cecilia say?" he then asked. "She was furious and didn't allow us in the residence," Nathan answered. "Why did you send her away? We four have been together since childhood. I know she made a mistake and wanted to harm Winter, but her anger is reasonable on her," Hector asserted. He had promised Cecilia that he would talk on her behalf to Raphael. "Because Cecilia would not have respected my choice to keep Winter alive. I don't want her to stay mad at me or either of you all the time. That is
The next morning Raphael after getting ready returned to his chamber, feeling burdened with worries. He knew that with Hector, Cecilia, and Nathan around, things would be taken care of. However, his immediate concern was his upcoming rut. In the past, he managed to suppress his desires as he had no mate. But lately, being near Winter made it hard for him to control himself even on regular days. Now, with his rut approaching, he feared his overwhelming desire for Winter, which was overpowering his mind. Last night, after having a conversation with Nathan and Hector, he contemplated whether he began liking Winter. But that was not possible. He would never love his enemy's daughter. He was confident that it was lust in him that made him attracted toward Winter all the time. Entering his bedchamber, Raphael found Winter changing the flowers in a pot. "Why are you here?" he asked in bewilderment. He remembered he didn't summon her there. "Your Majesty!" Winter bowed her head, greeted h
