Nathan, despite Winter's refusal, went to the King's chamber to have a conversation with him. He had known Raphael since a very young age and had been a close friend to him.
Raphael was seated on the sofa chair with his eyes closed. "Why are you here at this hour, Nathan?" he asked, keeping his eyes still closed.
"Did you try to use force on Winter?" Nathan straightforwardly asked him.
Raphael pried his eyes open and tilted his head up to look at Nathan, who was at the door.
"Answer me," Nathan pressed him. "Ezkiel wiped out our clan, not his innocent daughter. You know this well. Our families were innocent, yet they were tortured to death. Don't be like Ezkiel," he confronted Raphael.
"Winter has to bear the pain that our families our clan underwent," Raphael stated.
"Be a man, Raphael. You literally asked for sexual favors from her. Is this the way you'll take your revenge?" Nathan reprimanded him.
"I'm guilty about that," Raphael admitted while keeping his eyes fixated on Nathan.
"I gathered the information from the humans. Winter was abused by her father, and her people. The bruises on her arms clearly show that. She needs support at this time, not the otherwise," Nathan explained while advising Raphael to throw his vengeance away and think with his heart.
"Why are you so concerned about Winter? She should get punished for what her father did!" Cecilia's voice landed in their ears. "Kill her, Raphael, or else I'll do," she stated, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Stop it, Cecilia," Nathan said.
"How could you forget what her father did to us? She deserves to be dead. If you two cannot do it, then I'll end her life," Cecilia proclaimed. Her hatred toward Winter was visible in her tone, and in her expressions.
"She doesn't deserve to die because she had no hands in wiping out our clan," Nathan pronounced.
"Stop you two! Leave my chamber. I want to rest," Raphael said, furrowing his brows together.
Nathan bowed and walked away while Cecilia remained there. "Why is Winter still alive? I can't stand her sight in front of me," she stated.
"Didn't I command you not to touch her? She's my maid, so she won't be in front of your eyes," Raphael stated while reminding her of his previous orders.
"So, you will keep her alive, whose father was responsible for our miseries," Cecilia said in a fury.
"I'll punish her in my own way," Raphael proclaimed. "Now, leave and tell the servant outside to come inside," he told her, again resting his head on the sofa chair's headrest and closing his eyes.
Cecilia didn't argue further and walked out of the chamber. "Go inside," she ordered the servant and went ahead to find where Winter was.
Raphael ordered the servant to bring Winter to him. "If she refuses to come, tell her you'll get punished brutally," he proclaimed.
The servant got intimidated to hear him and rushed outside to find Winter.

Despite her fragile body, Winter managed to rise and slowly made her way out of the royal garden. Her head hung low as she traversed the palace grounds. As she walked, she overheard the hushed murmurs of the palace servants, who couldn't resist gossiping about her. Winter paid them no mind.
However, her path took an unexpected turn when an unfamiliar, feminine voice called out to her. Startled, Winter looked up to see the source of the voice.
"Lower your eyes, you filthy bitch!" Cecilia spat out the words with contempt, her hand raised to strike Winter with the strength of a werewolf. The force of the slap sent Winter tumbling to the ground, her hand instinctively reaching for her stinging cheek.
Winter met Cecilia's glare with defiance. "I won't lower my eyes," she asserted firmly.
Cecilia's anger flared even more, and she moved closer, intending to grab Winter by the hair. However, before she could carry out her threat, a familiar figure interposed himself between them. It was Nathan.
In the next moment, Nathan scooped Winter into his arms, preventing any further confrontation.
He silenced Cecilia with a stern command. "Shut your mouth, Cecilia," he ordered, walking away with Winter in his arms, leaving Cecilia seething with anger.
Winter gazed at him with a bewildered expression. "You can put me down," she said.
"Oh, I will," Nathan assured her.
Winter didn't protest and they soon were in the King's chamber. Winter was shocked to see that, her resistance to go in front of Raphael was evident.
"I don't wish to see him," Winter said in a low voice to Nathan.
"A servant will get killed if you don't show yourself to the King," Nathan said and finally settled her feet on the ground outside Raphael's chamber. The servant thanked Nathan, who helped her find Winter.
She pushed the door in and informed Raphael about Winter's presence.
Both Nathan and Winter walked in. This time, the curtains no longer covered the large windows. The light in the room clearly made everything visible.
Raphael saw Winter's cheek and dashed to her when she instinctively took a few steps back, but he didn't let her move further back. His calloused fingers held her chin gently and he tilted her face to the right.
Seeing the finger marks on her cheek, he asked "Who did this?"
"Cecilia," Nathan answered.
Raphael's other hand clenched. "Does she have a death wish?" he muttered and thanked Nathan for bringing Winter back. He bowed and walked out of the chamber.
"Follow me," Raphael said to Winter and turned to go further inside the bedchamber.
"I won't follow you anywhere," Winter stated.
Raphael ran his fingers through his hair. Swiftly, he appeared in front of her and carried her in his arms. Winter thrashed herself in his arms, asking him to put her down.
Raphael didn't let her down unless they were in the bedchamber. He settled her on the mattress and pushed her on the mattress. "Forgive me for my earlier behavior. I didn't mean to say that," he said.
Winter's eyes welled up in tears. "I don't trust you," she murmured.
"Then, don't," Raphael said. "Don't you think if I had to do something to you I would've done it by now?" He questioned her.
Winter chose not to reply and averted her gaze. "Take some rest," Raphael whispered and pulled up the velvety duvet for her. He covered her from it and stood up to go outside.
"Don't hate me even if I'm enemy's daughter," Winter requested him.
However, Raphael didn't answer her and left the bedchamber and closed its door from the outside.

Raphael's fury boiled over as he clutched Cecilia's throat in a vice-like grip. "How dare you defy my orders?" he thundered. Cecilia struggled to break free, her futile attempts causing her vision to blur and her body to writhe in agony. Finally, Raphael released his hold, and she collapsed onto the marble floor, gasping for precious air. "I-I did as I pleased," Cecilia managed to assert despite her weakened state. Raphael's voice carried a grave warning as he said, "You are forbidden from touching her. Consider this your last warning." Cecilia's eyes blazed with anger, the color shifting in response to the sudden flare of emotion. "Why? Her father slaughtered my family," she retorted fiercely. "You promised me that night that you would eliminate everyone connected to Ezkiel." "I will torture her slowly. She should remember what her father did to us," Raphael stated while furrowing his brows together, unsure whether he would be able to do that or not. Cecilia nodded at him and fo
"You won't kill me, Raphael. You know the answer well," Winter pronounced with a confident tone. He furrowed his brows together and settled the teacup on the saucer. "Because you think you are my mate, so you are in an illusion that I will show mercy on you. If I had considered you my mate even for a moment, I would have kept you above my eyes. Now, speak respectfully to me, or else I'll have to teach you a lesson on mannerism," Raphael elaborated to her. Winter was hurt to hear his words. But she couldn't even keep high hopes. She felt her feet hurting since her body was still weak. "Come here," Raphael said. Winter stepped up when he asked her to sit. She gazed at him for a few seconds before pulling out the chair and sat on it. With that, she felt better. "Since you were a princess, you must know how to read and write. Help me in my writing work daily. I am not used to writing decrees, orders, etc." Raphael said. "Shouldn't His Majesty be asking someone more prestigious
"Why does Raphael want to see me?" Winter inquired, puzzled, as Nathan escorted her to the main region of the palace.Nathan shook his head. "His Majesty didn't share the details with me," he replied, then noticed Winter's hands. He couldn't help but remark, "It must have been tough for you, washing all those utensils."Winter nodded and her expression grew somber. "It was indeed difficult. However, performing such chores helps me momentarily forget what has happened to me, how I've lost even the good people around me," she explained, her words laden with the weight of sorrow and loss."My father was indeed cruel, so I feel what happened with him was right," Winter said after a brief pause. Nathan glanced at her. He liked the fact that she was still strong in such a situation. She was standing her ground and had become fearless. "It's unfair that those who have no fault have to pay too sometimes," he affirmed. "Did my father kill your parents too? My apology will never end that pain
"Your cheeks flushing red," Raphael said and he smirked. He asked her to turn to the other side since the medicine needed to be applied to the other arm too. Winter complied with him and turned her back to him. "You got kind of a unique surprise on your 18th birthday," Raphael proclaimed. His fingers gently rubbed over her bruise. "Are you mocking me?" Winter inquired him. "Do you also think I'm a jinx?" Her tone was laced with fury and frustration. "You got a present on your birthday," Raphael ignored her questions and shifted his fingers to the third bruise on her forearm. Winter quickly moved away and stood up on her feet. "Nathan said you kept me alive because, in your eyes, I was innocent. Is that true? Why do you treat me in a way that gives me more pain?" she asked him. "I was being gentle to you," Raphael proclaimed. "No. Your words make me hurt," Winter asserted. "I don't want to be near you. Don't call me when you have no work for me," she opined. "You cannot step out
Winter frowned as the Wolfsbane touched his skin, he tried holding his wince, but could not. Both Nathan and Hector left their places to rush toward their King. "You are hurt," Winter said with a worried expression and she held his arms. "Raphael, why did you–" Cecilia couldn't complete her words as he asked her to shut her mouth. Though he was in excruciating pain, he turned to look at Cecilia with disdain. "I won't punish you for what you just did because you were my friend. Let's not see each other ever again," Raphael stated and walked out of the dining hall in fury. Winter followed him because Raphael needed immediate attention. "You have completely lost your mind," Nathan told Cecilia with a disgust in his tone. Hector, though, didn't say anything to her, but his gaze expressed his angry emotions toward her. On the other side, Raphael reached his bedchamber somehow and fell on the bed. The Wolfsbane had an immediate effect on his body, making him a bit weak. Beads of sweat
Cecilia was extremely furious and disappointed in Raphael. All she desired was an act of complete revenge against Winter, but why did he have to go to this extent and save his enemy’s daughter?“I just hope you don’t die yet," Cecilia asserted. “I will leave if you want me to, but don’t expect me to sit back and let you do what you want.” She murmured and returned to her room to collect her things and leave the palace as soon as possible. Cecilia looked at the servants and asked them to pack her belongings quickly. She had no intention to stay in the palace for another second. A maidservant walked in and informed Cecilia about Nathan and Hector. “Why are you two here?” Cecilia crossed her arms together as she saw them walking in.“If we had waited, would you have let us in?” Nathan inquired and looked at the servants, who were packing Cecilia’s clothes.“I do not want to talk with the two of you,” Cecilia stated and averted her gaze from them. “Even if you two stop me, I won’t. I am
Winter’s legs were aching as Raphael asked her to keep standing next to his bed. When the water went above her head, she opened her mouth to speak, “Why are you punishing me? I did not ask you to send your friend away from the palace.”Raphael opened his eyes and glanced at her. “It happened because of you. I never once fought with Cecilia,” he affirmed, blaming her for what happened earlier. Winter chuckled at his comment. “Your Majesty asked me to have meals with them. If His Majesty thinks I am the reason for his problems, then he should let that wolfsbane fall on me. Your revenge would have been completed that way,” she taunted him. Raphael frowned at her harsh remarks. “I want you to suffer gradually,” he reminded her. “Just accept that you feel weak because I am your mate,” Winter said with a challenging tone. “And why do you think you are so important for me to feel weak in front of you?” Raphael said, slipped out of his bed, and approached Winter.Raphael was inches away f
Winter pulled away, shooting a sharp glance at Raphael in response to his unexpected kiss. However, he gently anchored his hand on the back of her head and once more drew her into a kiss.As an omega, Winter possessed an allure that heightened Raphael's attraction toward her. His resolve to resist her was tested when her icy fingers grazed his skin. Despite his efforts, his restraint crumbled as Winter unwittingly drew near to him.Raphael skillfully nibbled at her lips, his body emanating an uncharacteristic intensity of warmth. As his teeth lightly brushed against her lips, she stifled a muted gasp, uncertain of what might follow. Yet, he maintained the kiss's innocence, keeping it pure. With a smooth motion, he rose to his feet, drawing Winter up alongside him. Positioned on the elevated platform of the bathtub, her head hovered just inches above Raphael's.As Raphael pulled Winter into the huge bathtub, the soap bar fell off her hand, and she emitted another gasp. The sensation of
