An Intense Introduction

The wolf's snout could only be two inches from my face. It bared its teeth at me as it growled, a deep rumbling noise I could feel in my chest. Much to my relief, I heard commotion all around me and the wolf. It seems that my party overheard the chase and were coming to my aid. A handful of our pack's warriors surrounded us, each on their toes and shirtless in preparation to shift.

The great wolf had lifted its head at the sound of others approaching and seemed to be analyzing his options. Luckily he chose to avoid the fight and began to shift back. As he shifted I felt two hands grab me up under my arms and hoist me away from the Alpha. I looked up and saw my father's Beta, Saul. He looked plenty prepared to scold me for somehow putting myself into some trouble when he turned his attention back to the man who had been pursuing me.

"Is there a reason you were tracking down and ready to attack another Alpha's daughter?" Saul called out to him.

The stranger cocked his head and stared harder at me, "In all fairness, she doesn't exactly look like an Alpha's daughter. More like a young son."

I felt my cheeks burn at the statement. Even though I was supposed to look like that for my own safety, it was embarrassing nonetheless. I swiftly pulled my scarf from around my head, allowing my blond curls to rest just below my shoulders.

"Okay, now I see it," the Alpha conceded with a smirk.

Again, I couldn't help the burning rising in my cheeks. While clearly a smart mouth, his mouth and the rest of him were none other than stunning. He was at least 25 and probably around 6'3, easily dwarfing me. Everything about him exuded Alpha. From his strong jawline that was dusted with a light beard to his deep brown eyes, he was essentially an Adonis. The resemblance to the perfected marble statue was only heightened by the paleness of his skin. It made the hairs on his sculpted chest stand out, leading down into a happy trail-

"Eyes up Evelyn!" I quickly scolded myself. Ashe groaned in my head, But we were almost at the good part. Besides, he's busy talking to Saul, might as well indulge. I rolled my eyes at her and remained steadfast in my will to keep my eyes above the waist. "I swear, instead of a wolf I should just call you a horn-dog sometimes." She responded with some mumble about how I never let us have any real fun. Just when I was checking back into the conversation did this stranger introduce himself to our party.

"I'm Noah Hudson, Alpha of the Creekwood pack," he introduced himself.

That explains his irritable and defensive attitude. We were in his territory, as the Council is being held on Creekwood land. I also felt myself shiver at the mention of the Creekwood pack. They were known for being especially ruthless to any that they felt had done them wrong. I met the previous Alpha, Noah's father I'm assuming, once ten years ago. It was a terrifying experience; the man never smiled. How someone managed to be terrifying while trying to forge an alliance, I will never understand. Noah identifying himself as Alpha made me wonder what had happened with his father. He seemed a healthy man and being so lethal it was clear he would be hard to kill. The man would never step down from the position; that would be disgraceful.

Saul stepped in the fill the silence, "Well Alpha, I assure you we have no ill intentions. We are simply traveling on our way to the Council. Evelyn, here, was simply stepping away to cool off as we rested. Given how well we're known, we prefer to keep her somewhat hidden."

Noah cocked his head, "If you are headed to the Council, then where is your Alpha? Alexander is expected to be in all meetings."

Saul filled in again, "He had some matters to attend to and is following behind us. He will be about a day late, but I will sit in for him in all meetings in his absence."

Noah nodded his head and then turned and began walking, "In that case follow me. I will take you to your lodgings and I will show you where the event center is." In his walking away he accepted some grey sweatpants from one of our men but denied the shoes offered to him.

As he walked away I took the time to admire his physique as he walked away. Out of nowhere, I see him hesitate for a second, turning his head to the side and sniffing the air. He then turned his head farther and looked straight at me. I turned my head away quickly. I felt that strange tingle run down my spine again as I felt his eyes on me. I stubbornly kept my head turned. I would not indulge, especially with a man like him. While this was my first time meeting him, there were always rumors about the Creekwood Alpha's son's promiscuity. I know better than to let my mind wander.

Besides, I knew that my parents were planning for this Council to marry me off to some stranger. Ashe poked her head into my thoughts, All the more reason we should indulge. I mean did you really get a good look at that ass. I think you should check one more time. I swear there was not a leash short enough to reign her in on. She was incorrigible when it came to "enjoying life to its fullest". Allowing myself to engage in more risky activities was never an option. I was never allowed to engage in parties with friends, or even be alone with a boy. I was the Alpha's daughter, everyone knew who I was and I had an appearance to keep up. Before the Council, I dared to suggest that I should be at least given a chance to meet my fated mate before I shipped off in exchange for some alliance favor for another Alpha's pack. It was, for this reason, that I was sent ahead with Beta Saul. He's been more of a parent to me than my own. Though my father had a soft spot for me, my mother's strict and detached feelings for me always overrode any gentility my father held.

My train of thought led to my moping along with the rest of my party as we followed behind the god-like man in front of us. All the while I tried to refuse how intriguing it was to watch his back muscles move with each step. And he really did have a nice ass.

It's the last point that has my stomach in a twist. Being the daughter of an Alpha means I am to be used as a means of alliance and building bonds with other packs, even though we all have a fated mate waiting for us somewhere out there. It's just a sacrifice I am expected to make for the pack. It's all politics and my wolf Ashe and I agree that it is also just plain cruel.
