Celeste’s POV

The scent hit me first. It was rich, dark, and suffocatingly masculine. A mix of cedarwood and something deeper, almost sinful. My eyelashes moved and I opened my eyes looking at the large unfamiliar room.

Only it wasn't mine.

Panic surged before my eyes even though they were open. The bed beneath me was too soft, the sheets too smooth, carrying the unmistakable scent of him. My breath caught as I forced my heavy limbs to move, fingers gripping the silky duvet to steady myself. My body felt weak, but my pulse was a deafening drum in my ears.

Where the hell was I? What happened to me?

The whole room was painted in ash and cream. I looked up at the large white ceiling.

Was I dead? Oh no.

I touched myself, pinching my cheeks to be sure I wasn’t dead.

“Ouch,” I groaned and rubbed my cheek.

I continued scanning the room and noticed the air humidifier and the air conditioner.

Where the heck was I?

I forced my legs over the side of the bed, my bare feet meeting the cold

Killian’s POVI never thought a simple dinner would test my control as much as this one did.It wasn’t just the food, though the steak was perfectly seared, or the wine. Neither was it the setting, but her. I had sent the maid to get her and it had been thirty minutes and she wasn't down yet. The door to my study opened, and Celeste walked in.Her sky-blue knee-length dress fitted perfectly on her pale skin and clung to her curves. I held the fork, looking at her shocked as my heart began to beat faster. My mind began to wander to places it shouldn't have. The low heels only made her steps more graceful as she approached, her eyes trained straight ahead, avoiding mine for the most part. She had no idea just how much control she was testing at that moment. She was perfect; too perfect, for a moment like this.I had asked for her presence. It was my rule that she would follow, but I still wasn’t prepared for the way my blood roared when she entered. My eyes snapped to her like a mag

I hadn’t even heard her coming. She was a different maid, a few years older than I was.She was small, soft-looking, with dark skin and curly brown hair. Her expression was warm, unlike the rest of the people here.I followed Clara out of the office, my shoulders tense as we walked down the hall. She smiled gently. “You shouldn't let

Celeste's POVI felt a wet clothes clump on my body. What was I thinking?"You glowed last night." I heard a low voice inside my head.I was in darkness and could not move my body."How is that even possible?" The deep voice continued. I knew this voice.I tried to shift, and my body ached. Something was wrong. I could still feel the wet cloth move on my shoulder once more. What's happening? Stop.I opened my eyes, blinking, and they settled on his."Killian," I whispered. My eyes slowly adapted to the light as I winced. "Why are you here?" I asked."You fainted last night." He spoke softly. He was sitting at the foot of my bed, his arms around my head. His eyes, not leaving mine. My throat felt dry, and I swallowed to make it wet."W…what?" I stuttered. "What are you?" he whispered."Huh?" I breathed softly, looking around and back at him. "Your birthmark," he said, shifting his eyes to my shoulder.I drew my arm across my chest. My cheeks turned a bright red. "Flipping heck." "

Celeste's POVI kept staring at my hand, expecting a miracle, but nothing happened. It was all my imagination.I was perfectly fine. At least, I said to myself a hundred times. When I was sure I had convinced myself, I laid back in bed and inhaled. There was something odd about the smell. It smelt a bit woody, just like Killian.I inhaled again, and this time, the scent grew stronger.“What the heck?” I muttered, sitting up on the bed.I traced the smell to the sheets. It grew stronger and I brought my nose down.I had never been able to pick the scent before. Not as strong as this.I looked around, and my eyes locked on the full-length mirror across the room.My hands reached for the shirt, moving the collar down and stared at the birthmark. I waited, expecting something, but nothing happened.I sighed and looked away. It was pointless. Why did I ever think something would happen?Standing up, I moved towards the door and my bone ached. I had moved too fast and I fell to the floor.“

Killian’s POV“You don't trust her, do you?” Logan’s voice reached my ears as he stepped into my office. “What do you mean?” I asked, looking up from the papers on the table. “Her. The new girl,” he continued. “Oh, that. When has anyone ever gained my trust that easily?” I replied. “You can never change. You keep answering every question with another question,” Logan complained. “Hmm,” I replied and relaxed on my chair. “Answer my question,” Logan pressed. I looked up, looking into his green eyes. “Not yet.”“Yet?” Logan asked. “Oh, I see. You're going to test her.”“Don't I ever?” I replied and he smiled. “At least let me test her,” Logan said, looking very enthusiastic.I smirked and answered. “Be my guest.”I watched him get his ass swapped the next day. My arms were tired from being tied, but I made myself stay still.Joan stood beyond the rusted bars, watching me. Her face didn’t show what she was thinking, but she looked like she was in control, even with the dim light flickering above. Killian’s POVPain shot through my wrists as I pulled at the steel handcuffs, but they wouldn't budge. The cuffs cut into my skin, causing a burning sensation, while the effects of the gas left me feeling weak and off-balance.Gradually, my vision cleared, revealing the cold concrete floor, old, rusted chains fixed into the walls, and Sam standing in front of me, a smug grin on his face.Sam laughed as he paced back and forth. "You always thought you were untouchable, big brother. But look at you now... trapped like an animal in a cage." His voice was full of satisfaction.I clenched my teeth. "Having fun, Sam?" I asked in an even voice, trying to hide the anger boiling inside me.Sam let out a soft laugh, pulled a chair closer, and sat down with a victorious air. "You really don’t understand, do you? This is more than just capturing you. It’s about breaking your spirit."I moved my fingers, testing the strength of the cuffs. "Do you think these chains can keep me here forever?"Sam's

She moved like the wind, her claws and teeth flashing with incredible speed and power. The ground shook with every strike she landed.Selene barely had time to react. Quickly, she raised her hands and summoned a glowing shield of energy just in time to block Vanessa's sharp claws. Sparks flew when the claws hit the shield, but the force still pushed Selene backward.Vanessa was relentless in her attack. She gave Selene no time to recover as she lunged again, even faster and stronger, driven by sheer anger. Her claws sliced through the air, missing Selene by mere inches because Selene managed to teleport away jus

The forest felt alive, and the rustling leaves seemed to cheer as we walked. The heat stuck to my skin as I stood in the clearing, trying to catch my breath, my body aching from many failed tries.“Again,” Selene's voice cut through the heavy air.I clenched my fists in frustration. My heart was racing as I tried to reach the wolf spirit inside me that wouldn’t respond. I felt it stir for a moment, but then something pushed back from the inside, rejecting me.A sharp pain burst in my chest. Immediately, a powerful force pushed me back, and I groaned, flying backwards without control over my body.Everything blurred as the ground rushed toward me.Before I crashed into a tree, a pair of strong arms caught me, and I smelled the earth and wind. Celeste’s POVA tingle crept up my spine. I turned my gaze to the door, and bit my lip as a clammy feeling pressing on my chest. The warmth of the sun streaming comfortably through a gap in the window did little to mitigate the gravity falling on me. Something was off. My body felt slow, and my head was dense, as if something had crept into my brain when I wasn’t looking.Vanessa sat with her legs crossed on the floor, rubbing her elbow, her lip twisted with anger. As soon as we spotted each other, we spoke in unison “Did you feel that?”I went first, nodding. “Yeah. It's so creepy. Almost like we have someone else in here,” I whispered. “Why are you whispering? You're making this shit more scary,” Vanessa replied. I looked at the window. It was open and the wind moved in with ease. “Maybe, it's the wind.”Vanessa turned to look at the window and back at me as quick as a lightening. “Yeah, no. I doubt some little wind is supposed to give me this icky feeling.”“What do you mean?”

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 54: The Ambush

Killian’s POVThe night had a sharp bite with the wind whispering over the rusted metal of the shipping containers. The yard was expansive, extending in all directions like a steel cemetery, stacked containers with their sides up creating a maze of frozen iron.My team stepped as one, our feet whispering against the pavement, our bodies trembling at what waited.Logan paced beside me, his eyes roving the darkened yard, and his fingers drifting low, near his knife. Victor was a step behind him, his gun in a tight grip, with quick steady breaths. All the men here had been lethal in their own right, trained to wartime combat, but the silence of the place was wrong. The Odor of the sea mingled with something damp, a fouler—oil, rust, and blood. It was a fresh kill.I held up a fist to signal a stop. The others immediately stood still. Victor nodded, opening his mouth, and took a breath. “Something is close.”Logan reached for his gun. “Could be a trap.”It was always a trap. I only had

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 53: The Human Wolf and a Dark Revelation

Killian’s POVThe underground medical hub was colder than normal. The lingering smell of antiseptic hung in the air, overlaid the dried blood and sweat. The machines beeped at steady intervals, but the mood in the room was anything but stable. My colleagues and I circled the restrained corpse of Elias Carter, a man whose name had appeared in the news for three weeks straight as a missing person. Now he was here and hardly human. I was not prepared to explain to him the process of what it's like becoming a wolf. They were so mad when they found out.And Sam was going too far. But if the cops found out about this, it would cause an uproar. I didn't want anything to happen that would upset the human and supernatural treaty. It’s taken us centuries to make a deal like that. His change wasn’t like the others. The victims who had come before him had been poisoned, their bodies bent beyond repair, but Elias was different. There was no rot in evidence, no blackened veins, no sickly pallor. Hi

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 52: The Wild Chase

Killian’s POVIt was a stinking, cloying scent of something man-made that hung in the wind in a smell of rain and smoke. Victor’s voice sliced through the comms, crisp and urgent.“He’s here. I think Sam is here, Alpha.”The words coursed through me. My pulse pounded as I looked to my team, Logan next to me, Victor was several steps back, and a dozen of my best wolves fanned out and were prepared to act. Sam had entered my domain. He was either careless or scheming. And if I knew Sam, he was reckless never.“Let’s move,” I said, and I was already leaving.Their boots thundered on pavement as we barreled through the streets, our wolves on high alert. The city stretched out beyond blinking lights and shadows. Some places were quiet, abandoned, while others thrummed with life and ignorant humans moving along the sidewalks, cars cruising by, oblivious to the hunt taking place around them.Victor guided us down an alley, with his nose. “His scent is here.”I smelled it too. It was faint an

In a matter of moments, her breathing had slowed.“Finally, I thought you'll never sleep,” I whispered. I approached, observing her in silence. So vulnerable.
