CHAPTER 22 Manuel's POV I grunted in pain and the sunlight pierced its way through my eyes like it was trying to burn through to my soul. The rhythmic thumping of boots did not do much to soothe the pain that I felt. I closed my eyes to shut out the lethal rays and my vision was immediately clouded by a beautiful familiar face. I watched her green eyes glow as the sunlight passed through them, causing them to come alive with the leaves in the beautiful garden where she stood. Her rich, auburn hair bounced around freely as she twirled happily. I watched her with a wide smile on my face as she raised her hands to me, gesturing me to join her. She continued to laugh and twirl in her magical world which I was sure I did not deserve. I had always been a selfish person, so I grabbed her hand. Her sweet laughter rang in my ears as we both spun around, touching flowers here and there. She stared at me, her eyes promising a freedom that I could not even begin to fathom.
CHAPTER 23 Roberta's POV It had been a little more than a week after my children with Vincenzo were officially pronounced dead by their own father. Members of the pack flocked in relentlessly to express their sympathy and offer comforting words. I hated it. I felt like I was being robbed of the only thing I really wanted; to grieve my babies on my own and cry my eyes out for them. Instead, I had to get up every day to countless women in my room. They always dolled me up in the saddest make-up, presenting me as the perfect image of a mourning Luna. I sometimes had to smile at the guests, even when smiling was the last thing I wanted to be doing. I would sit on their big, gothic chair and accept gifts and condolences. I hated having to go out there. The condolences were from people I didn't even know. Except if anyone was going to walk into the courtyard with both of my children, there was nothing those people could offer that was useful to me. The worst part of
CHAPTER 24 Roberta's POV I breathed steadily as my fingers traced imaginary lines on Vincenzo’s shirt. My eyes were only slightly open as I stared at the space in front of me. My head rose and fell at a steady pace because of the movement of his chest as he breathed in and out. His hand roamed through my hair softly. The silence between us seemed comfortable, yet it ate at me from the inside out. I wanted us to talk about the death of our children, but instead, we sat there, staring into space. I was in Vincenzo’s arms and his company, but I was still utterly alone with my thoughts and with my grief. “Can we talk?”, I asked croakily. He stayed quiet for a while, his hands still paying much attention to the strands of my hair that he played with. I heard him heave a sigh before his body began to prop upwards. I raised my weight off him, looking at his face as he sat upright. “What would we say?”, he asked blankly. “I don't know, but I don't want to feel like I'm losing yo
Chapter 25I whimpered as soon as he mentioned that my children were kidnapped by someone. I could understand the rivalry between Alpha and packs, but kidnapping infants and separating them from their mothers for so long just seemed cruel.Whoever had taken my babies, they were either the devil, or they were sleeping with him.“They? Who is they? Who is holding my children?”, I cried out.The man shook his head vigorously and groaned in pain as Vincenzo dug his boots deeper into his chest.“You heard her. Who the fuck sent you?”, he thundered. “I can't tell you. Please, you have to understand. They will kill me”, he said shakily.“And you think that I will not?”, Vincenzo scoffed. The man breathed quietly for a while. He was probably weighing his chances of surviving if he didn't tell us who sent him.I watched his eyes drop in resignation as if he had just realized that no matter what he did, he was doomed. At least he stood a chance at escaping whoever sent him, but not Vincenzo.
CHAPTER 26Vincenzo’s POV I walked stealthily into Roberta's room and quietly closed the door behind me.Everywhere was pitch black, except for the pale moonlight that crept in through the few spaces between the curtains.I walked closer to her bed where she lay asleep peacefully. I stared at her face as she took slow, peaceful breaths.A smile grew across my face.It made me feel like a weird stalker to watch her like that while she slept, but I missed her.It was good to be able to stand in her presence again, to be intoxicated with her smell.I noticed her begin to shift with discomfort as I approached her bedside. She must have sensed me walking to her.I paused in my tracks and observed her, waiting for her to relax.Instead of calming down, she began to move more vigorously. I immediately realised that I wasn't the problem. She was having a nightmare.“Lucia”, she muttered. Her voice came out sounding extremely troubled.I stepped closer to her and watched as her expression gre
CHAPTER 27Roberta's POV “Roberta, wake up.”I slowly blinked my eyes open to see Vincenzo hovering over me.His bulky body stood between me and the dim sunlight that was coming from my window, which I noticed was open. The light rays bounced around the edges of his body, giving him a glowing effect as his hands caressed my cheeks to wake me up.“I'm awake”, I groaned tiredly. He smiled and reached down to kiss my lips but I turned my head to the side immediately. I didn't mean to. It was just a quick reaction. He raised his eyebrows at me in confusion. “I just woke up”, I said, blinking at him.“And?”, he retorted.I rolled my eyes and raised my upper body, causing our lips to jam against each other. He smirked against my lips as he kissed me passionately, his tongue sweeping against every corner of my mouth.“We need to get ready”, I muttered lowly. He groaned inside my mouth before finally letting go of my lips.“Fine”, he sighed in defeat.I stood up and walked away from the be
CHAPTER 28Roberta's POV Vincenzo and I ate the rest of our meal quietly. We exchanged concerned glances here and there, but neither one of us said anything until we were full.Oregon did not say a word either, but he was far from quiet. He chewed his food noisily with his mouth open, spilling pieces of meat all around him on the table.By the time he finished, his entire face was covered in a greasy sauce. His fingers were also tainted.Vincenzo and I had been done with our meals long before him, so we only sat and watched in visible disgust as he licked his fingers messily. When he was done, he sighed and leaned back on the chair.“That was orgasmic”, he said, beaming at us.“Of course it was”, Vincenzo said. “Although, I wonder how you would know that, seeing as you are sworn to celibacy. You wouldn't know what it is like to be with a woman”, he taunted.Oregon's smile only grew wider at Vincenzo’s snarky comment.“Your tongue is still as sharp as ever”, he said, his eyes dancing
CHAPTER 29Roberta’s POVI opened my eyes to see myself back in the garden at the palace.“Not again”, I muttered to myself.I recognized the grey skies and the eerie chill in the air too much to be comfortable. I was back in my nightmare, the one where I saw Lucia and my children. “I need to wake up now”, I said, looking around frantically.I paced around, breathing heavily. Tears welled up in my eyes as I tried to get myself to wake up, to no avail.“You need to go through the dream again”, Oregon said behind me.I gasped and turned to him with the speed of lightning. “Where do you keep coming from?”, I demanded, wiping the tears from my face.He looked at me with a blank expression on his face.“I need you to persevere, so I can see what exactly went on in this dream”, he pressed on.I shook my head vigorously and gave in to the tears as they fell from my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. “I can't. I don't want to relive it”, I said.I squatted down and hugged my knees. I felt t
CHAPTER 76 Roberta's POV I walked into the courtroom arm in arm with Declan. The guards outside bowed their heads slightly as he walked in, ignoring me completely. I recognized them as some of the newcomers from when I was last in the palace. They had gotten better, good enough to be trusted with the security at Manuel's wedding. They looked straight ahead as I walked past them, paying me no mind at all. I did not blame them for it. My attire was very bulky, and there was even a long veil covering my face as I entered. It served to make sure that nobody saw my face or even knew who I was. As far as everyone in the room was concerned, I was long dead and forgotten. If Declan and I stood any chance of accomplishing what we were there to do, then I had to remain dead to everyone. That was why even though my clothes and m
CHAPTER 75 Natalie's POV I walked down the aisle with a heavy heart, trying my best to keep myself on guard in case of any danger that might have been lingering around in the courtroom, where we had the wedding ceremony. Manuel stood at the end of the aisle, looking at me with admiration in his eyes. His gaze traveled up my body softly and gently with each step I took. I felt my insides melting away as he took his bottom lip into his mouth when his eyes settled on my lips. I stood shakily in front of Manuel. I was very unsure why I felt so nervous around him all of a sudden. He looked dashing in his black jacket as he looked down on me with a small smirk on his face. “You look different “, he mouthed to me. I glared playfully at him, wishing we weren't at our wedding so I could kick him in his shin. I had no
CHAPTER 74Elijah's POVI leaned back on the hammock that was suspended in my room as I threw a grape into my mouth, watching the show in front of me.On my bed, two naked women sat, touching each other sensually and moaning along with it.I squinted my eyes as I watched them, my cock jumping in response.“Aren't you going to join us?”, one of them asked, reaching out to me.I smirked and picked up the glass of wine that was resting on the small table beside me.“No, darling. I just want to watch, for now”, I said, raising the glass to my lips. She giggled naughtily and pressed her lips on the other girl's own.I let out a small sigh as I felt my dick threatening to burst out of my pants. With one big gulp, I finished all the wine that was left in the glass and sat up, looking at them intensely. “Actually, I've changed my mind”, I said, beckoning th
CHAPTER 73Natalie's POV I sat on my seat and brushed my hair gently, staring at my reflection in the mirror. My hair fell softly beside my bosoms. I noticed that it had gotten longer, reaching halfway through to my back.I was supposed to be outside, giving everybody shit about the way I wanted things to look and be at my wedding. Instead, I was in my room, feeling anxious. I was not ready to admit it yet, but I actually liked the idea of marrying Manuel. He made my heart flutter sometimes, in a way that I had never felt before.I faceslammed myself for having such thoughts about Manuel. I could not afford to develop feelings for him. He was supposed to just be an instrument in my rise to the top. Getting attached to him meant messing with my plans.I carefully placed my hairbrush on the wooden dresser beside me and got off the seat.As soon as I circled round to my bed and
CHAPTER 72Manuel's POV I sighed as I sat up on my bed, staring outside the window as the sun danced in the distance.I could hear a few birds chirping in the distance, almost totally covered by the sound of the city beneath waking up.My spirits could not be lower than the way they were that morning.I was to be wed to Natalie later that same day, yet the only thoughts that occupied my mind were of Lucia.I had seen her in my dream two nights before. She was still as beautiful as ever before, and everything felt so real, it was like she never left me to begin with. She didn't say anything the whole time. She just stood there, watching me with pleading eyes.I tried to ask her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say anything. Her desperate and wanting look worried me a lot and I tried to be persistent with asking her what was wrong, but She still refused to answer.I swiftly got off the bed as soon as I heard a soft knock on my door.“Manuel, are you awake?”, Natalie asked lowly, her v
CHAPTER 71 Natalie's POV My eyes flew open as soon as I felt the sun's light attempt to pry through my eyelids. I stared at my ceiling for a while, taking in the whole scenery before me. It was a bright day, and anyone could obviously tell just by looking outside their window. I sat up gently and effortlessly slipped out of my bed, making my way to the balcony. I picked a robe off my nightstand and wrapped it around my sparsely clad body as I walked out to the balcony. The view of the city was visible from where I stood. I could not resist the smile that began to grow on my face as I watched the town move with excitement for my wedding to Manuel the next day. Manuel had wanted for us to spend the night together, but it was a tradition in my family that the bride and the groom must not sleep in the same room for a week before the wedding. I sucked in a deep breath as I felt my body shiver slightly in anticipation. Just the thought that by the next day, I would be married to
CHAPTER 70 Vincenzo’s POV My eyes widened slightly as I watched the gr9an loudly in pain. I could hear the loud snapping of the bones in his arm as it cracked in three different places. “Humphrey “, Darla whispered shakily, getting off her position on the floor and running to his side. “Get away from him!”, I yelled at her, wondering if she was just plain stupid to run back to his side after what he had done to her. Before I could get my words out, he slapped her across the room with his straight hand. My head snapped to him when I heard him growl slowly. I noticed that his eyes had a yellowish looking glow around them, to signify that he was transforming into his wolf, and it seemed like a very painful transformation. There was not a full moon outside, so I could tell that his transformation was not triggered by the lu
CHAPTER 69Vincenzo’s POV I was angry at Tyler. No, anger was an understatement that didn't quite describe how I felt towards him after he declared that he would not help me get my revenge. The way I saw it, I had asked him to join me to be a messenger of justice, and he had turned me down simply because there was nothing in it for him.“Is the food not to your liking?”, Collin asked, looking down at my empty plate as I sat across from him at the dining table with both of my arms crossed.“Why do you ask? Would you even do anything if it isn't?”, I asked sarcastically, looking away from him.I heard him sigh heavily before the sound of his utensils clinking on his ceramic plate resumed. After watching him eat for a few more minutes, I decided to give up the pouty attitude and have some food. I had in fact been starving.Collin and I ate dinner in silence.
CHAPTER 68Declan’s POV My eyes shut open abruptly. It seemed as if I had never slept but instead, I had just blinked. The dim sunlight staggered across my eyelids, touching my eyes but barely leaving a mark.I blinked slowly, looking up at the ceiling as a single ray of sun glazed my vision. I turned my head to the side and saw sweet little Roberta lying down beside me with her mouth slightly agape, and her eyes tightly shut together.Without making a sound or causing any disturbance at all, I snuck my way out of the bed and stood at the other end, looking down at her unconscious figure.I could just kill her in a single move, without even breaking a sweat, and I would get away with it because she was by far the most gullible werewolf I had ever met. Then again, I liked to believe deeply that I was just too crafty with plans and she could never, in her mediocre life, stand a chance against my expertise. I stared down at her as her soft innocent face peered back at me with her tigh
