I stood there for a moment in shock but quickly moved to follow my mother. Colby was beside me and took my hand. My father had done a lot of questionable things, but I didn’t feel it was his time to leave this world. As we walked into the waiting area, once again, I see the Pack doctor talking to my mother. She is calm and listening intently. I walk over to join her taking her hand.
“Alpha Kate, I was just explaining to your mother that your father is going to be fine. His wolf started his healing quickly,” the doctor explains. Breathing a sigh of relief, I ask the doctor what happened. “I am not sure, but Alpha Reid or Beta John will be along shortly to explain everything,” he says before heading back in to look after my father.

Maddie POV Getting on the airplane had been scary at first. I had never been on a plane before, and I wondered if I had made a mistake. But I quickly got past that fear. The flight crew were friendly and kept me distracted. When we were in the air, I was able to relax. I did not get up and move around a lot although I had used the bathroom and saw a bedroom and an office toward the back of the plane. I could not believe it. Maddie POV Drake and I had an amazing day together just lazing in bed and enjoying one another’s body. Now Drake had surprised me with a night out. He had a dress already there for me – a gorgeous black cocktail dress that showed off more flesh than I was accustomed to showing. A deep vee in the front with spaghetti straps holding the dress up. The bottom of the dress fell mid-thigh with a short slit to the right of the bottom. As I slipped on strappy heels, Drake came out of the washroom looking stunning in a black suit, with a red tie contrasting the suit. Kate POV It had been three weeks since Lara had interrupted Maddie and Drake’s date night. As expected, nothing was gained through the man, who Drake had taken captive. Colby had everyone on alert at our end. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding Lara’s next move. Colby had managed to get a couple shifts in. He definitely felt it when he first shifted and was unprepared for how much missing a quarter of his lung would take out of him. Now that he has gotten used to the variance in his breathing he is adjusting better. He does not have the ability, yet, to go the speed and distance he was used to, but I had no doubt it would come. Kate POV As we all sat there in stunned silence, the echo of the gunshot continued to reverberate throughout the forest. Waiting to see who was hit, I look down in front of me. I see a shocked look on Lara’s face and realize the bullet hit her. I let her fall to the ground, rolling her over and seeing the bullet did not go through her. It was lodged in her body and from the blood gushing out the bullet hole I could tell it was a fatal hit. Kate POV We got the call two days later that Lily was in labour. Colby had been trying to convince me not to go. Lily would understand that he wanted me close to the Pack house and doctor. We both were anxious after our last loss, but we had to recognize that was a situation that happened to us. Not something that meant there was something wrong with the pup or me in terms of carrying our pups. Amelie was over the moon when she found out we were expecting. To find out we were having two pups was a surprise but a great one at that. Amelie asked repeatedly if she could name them. Considering the last stuffed animal she received, she named gremlin, we are trying to gently tell her no. But it made us chuckle last night as we considered the names she would come up with. We haven’t started thinking about names yet. We don’t know if it’s two boys, two girls or one of each. And we haven’t decided if we want to know what they are before they are born.

Kate POV It had been a couple months since everything had happened. From the DNA test results, to Caleb’s son being the mastermind behind all that had happened. Maddie POV It had been an amazing vacation with Drake. I cannot wait to go again. I loved all his surprises and most importantly our time together. I had heard from Kate. She and Colby were arriving shortly for a quick visit.
