"Run, Bee,” A voice echoed through her head as she tore through the woods, her little feet bare and aching, dashing against stones. “Run as fast as you can. Do not look back, do not stop, do not worry. I will find you soon,"
She could see him in her mind’s eye. An old man standing at the edge of the forest, holding up a silver moon necklace that gleamed in the dark night.
“Run Bee!”
And she ran.
For hours until her feet couldn’t take any more. She ran until her knees grew feeble. Until the trees morphed into cackling shadows around her, mocking the poor little girl lost in the forest. Bee fell to her knees, clamped her eyes shut, terrified to be all alone. The old man had promised to come. He would come with his shining necklace and all the dark shadows would be gone. And so she curled up on shrub covered ground and waited.
But he never came.
Isabella’s eyes flashed open to see a gleaming white ceiling staring down rather boringly at her. She had the weird dream again. That was the third time in the past week. Hell she was certain she knew every single detail of that dream by heart and they all had the same ending.
Darkness.
Sighing deeply, she turned on her side, staring at her opened window. A rather familiar scent tickled at her nose and she chuckled.
“Feels good to be eighteen,” She purred, stretching her limbs in satisfaction.
Oh she could feel it already. Her heightened senses, The several scents of the teeming mass of werewolves that littered the mansion. Life in Crescent Park had been a rollercoaster for as long as Isabella could remember. Each day had its own drama, aura, and challenges. And that day was no different.
Except that the mansion was in a frenzy because of her and her alone.
Isabella had never been one to make a big deal out of birthday, but this was her eighteenth birthday. A year special to all werewolf females. She finally had the chance to evolve to her fullest potential, meet her other half bestowed upon her by the moon goddess- a stronger version of herself- Her wolf.
“No one is as excited as I am!” She squealed, launching herself off her bed. Beyond the doors of her room, she heard people’s laughter and a musician playing on his bard. Swirling to the tunes, she watched herself in her full length mirror, giggling. Her hair, a luxurious copper brown that dipped down to her waist, swished with the cotton shirt she wore. Her hazel eyes gleamed happily and her pale ivory skin caught the sunlight that filtered in through the windows.
Still humming to the tunes of the music, Isabella danced her way to the bathroom, had a very satisfying long and hot shower and then made her way down the halls to the dining room in her best dress. Her maid, Ann had picked out the dress; a pretty silver dress that draped against her wild curves. Its neckline was a subtle sweetheart that hinted at her full bosom. Gleaming opal beads lined her waist and hips, winking with each step she took and Isabella utterly loved it.
"Do you think that he will be here for the party?”
Isabella paused in her tracks when hushed voices reached her ears. Listening intently, she followed the sound to see two maids in a room muttering to themselves while glaring at someone else.
"He dares not!” One of the maids replied. “Ugh, it is the lady's eighteenth birthday. We cannot allow him to soil the air with his cursed soul,"
Isabella frowned and glanced around the room to see Sean, the Alpha, seated in the corner of the room. His eyes, a cerulean blue that reminded her of the ocean, were fixed blankly on the book in his hands. His dark locks were tousled, a few strands falling over his face, casting a rather edgy shadow on it. She knew he was pretending not to hear their hurtful words and it irritated and broke her heart to see him go through that torment daily.
Clearing her throat, Isabella stepped into the room, and the two maids straightened immediately with a guilty expression etched on their annoying faces.
"If you two do not have anything better to do with your time, how about you pack your bags and head home?" she said with a sadistic smile.
"We are sorry, Lady Isabella," they mumbled in unison.
She arched a brow at their petulance. "Are you now? The audacity you two have, gossiping about the Alpha right to his face. What gave you the right and boldness to voice out your stupid opinions before him?"
Their gazes went to the floor, and they bowed to her again.
"We are sorry, Mi lady."
"Apologize to Sean, now." She ordered.
They reluctantly turned to Sean, who paid them no heed.
"We are sorry, Alpha Sean,"
"You may leave. Bear this in mind however, the next time I witness such nonsense, I will cut your stupid tongues off and feed them to you. Understood?"
They nodded and rushed out of the room. She watched them scurry out and the minute they closed the door, Isabella's face broke into a huge grin as she strutted towards Sean.
"Pretty badass, huh?"
Sean closed the book in his hand and placed it on the table, rolling his eyes in amusement.
"You did not have to do that," He signed with his hand, his expression as hard as stone. "I pretend they are not here, and when they are tired, they leave. When it's happened for twenty four years, you get used to it."
Isabella scoffed, drawing closer to him. Her hands reached out on a whim to pick at his hair. "That does not make it okay. You are the rightful Alpha of the pack. Rejecting and neglecting you because of a natural condition is total bullshit."
"Well, that is how it is," Sean replied, closing his eyes briefly as her hands played with his hair. When his eyes opened, they had warmed into a soft gaze as he motioned with his fingers and hands. "Don't get yourself in trouble for the tiger."
"Oh, come on," She teased, leaning to place a kiss on his smooth jaw. "What would you ever do without me, Sean?"
He glared at her, pushing her away from him playfully. "Get out."
Isabella laughed, the sound soft and vibrant as she waved at him. "Yeah yeah, Now, I'll be expecting my birthday gift before noon. What I haven't heard from you though, is what you think about this dress."
He shook his head and made a shooing motion at her. Laughing, she opened the door to step out but stopped in her tracks when she saw Damian, Sean's younger brother, staring at her with a disapproving glare. He was a stark contrast from his brother with his golden blonde hair and green eyes.
"What are you doing in there with him?" His face twisted in disgust, and she rolled her eyes.
"Since when do I have to explain myself to you, Damian?" She shot back, crossing her arms over her chest.
Sean drew closer, his eyes wary as he peeked through the door behind her.
"You know you should be avoiding him, or his curse could somehow bring you bad luck," he whispered.
Isabella's lips curled in a sneer. Really? How daft could everyone be?
"Damian, Sean is your older brother and the next Alpha of this pack. It is pretty low of you to be saying bad things about him."
"I do not care." Damian replied snottily, "A cursed werewolf cannot lead a pack, so he is not our Alpha. I wish he had just gone rogue instead of lurking around this place, poisoning the atmosphere with his bad luck."
Isabella shook her head, not totally surprised. She had gone through this enough to know that trying to get the idiot to reason was futile.
"GO. TO HELL, DAMIAN," she hissed and walked away.
The rest of the day went by in a rapid blur. By six in the evening, her cheeks hurt from smiling and welcoming party guests from within the pack, her legs hurt from rushing to settle everyone in rooms and attending to the catering.
All exhaustion faded away when she freshened up for the dinner party.
"Oh my, Alice, isn't this pretty?" She sighed, staring at the white ball gown, decorated with pearls. She felt strong, more alive, and definitely like a princess.
"It is Milady," Alice, her personal maid replied with a bright grin. "We must hurry though. It's almost time for the bonfire and everyone is waiting for you. You are so fortunate and truly blessed by the moon goddess Milady, it's a full moon!"
Isabella grinned and nodded. "True. I get to celebrate my birthday and the full moon. And meet my wolf and…"
Mate!
Isabella shuddered at the thought. She wasn't ready for that now. She was more concerned with getting stronger.
With a deep sigh, she gathered her gown in her hand and walked down the hallway to the ballroom, with her maid towing behind her.
The ballroom was lit with beautiful ornaments hanging from the ceiling. They cast an ethereal glow on her as she descended the stairs while the Herald announced her presence.
"The Lady, Isabella Morgana!"
The noise and chatter in the room died down as everyone turned to look at her.
Feeling a little bit uncomfortable at being the center of attention, Isabella walked down the stairs slowly, struggling to keep the smile on her face. The nervousness eased when Alpha and Luna swarmed over to her side.
"Oh, my dear, you look so adorable," Luna gushed, cradling Isabella's face in her hands.
"Really?" Isabella mumbled, her face turning bright red.
"Yes Isa. You look like a goddess." The Alpha grinned at her.
Taking a step away from them, she curtsied, "Thank you so much, Alpha Alexandro, and Luna Yvonne, for taking care of me all these years. For accepting me into your home and treating me like a daughter. I will forever remain indebted to the two of you."
"Awwwn," Luna cooed and giggled, clapping her hands with glee. "You are so sweet. You have filled our lives with so much radiance and joy, Isabella, and we love you. Happy birthday. I really hope you find your mate tonight."
Isabella chuckled nervously.
"I hope not." She mumbled, looking around the hall subtly, trying to see if Sean was lurking around the corners somewhere. But he hated noisy places. Her shoulders sagged at the realization.
"Come, I'll introduce you to some of my guests," the Alpha said, leading her further into the ball room.
They approached a table where four men were deeply engrossed in their conversation and the Alpha cleared his throat.
"Gentlemen, allow me to introduce to you the birthday woman, my ward - Lady Isabella."
They rose up, and Isabella bowed in greeting. Three out of the men nodded in acknowledgement, while the last stared at her, wide eyed and open mouthed like he had just seen a ghost.
"Garry!" Alpha Alexandro barked and the man jumped, coming back to his senses.
"Oh, please forgive my manners. Happy birthday, Lady Isabella. I… uhm… you look very beautiful" he mumbled, his face bright red in embarrassment.
"Thank you," she giggled and continued when Alpha Alexandro steered her away from them. "That was unexpected."
"Oh please. You are a fine young lady. I'll bet he's dying to be your mate." The Alpha teased.
The party went on for a few hours, with dances and conversations, and when it was midnight, They all went out for the bonfire under the full moon.
Isabella took a deep breath, watching the fire burn hot and wild towards the sky. Her first full moon bonfire, and she was nervous as hell. Would she really find her mate? She wondered as she watched a few male werewolves encircling some females, growling and sniffing at them. They were embracing the scents of their new mates.
The first couple launched into each other's arms and left together. Then the next. A few more followed and in a blink, all eyes were fixed on her.
Ah shit! Dear Moon Goddess, not now.
She jumped, startled, when she felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around to see- Damian?
Oh, No! Please No.
His eyes changed from its piercing green color to a bright gold as he locked eyes with her, nostrils flaring.
Her body grew hot, burning with the flames that his scent invoked in her, teasing her, enveloping her like a drug. Her thighs clenched, her body arched, eager to reach through the space between them and hold on to him.
Cheers erupted all around them, and beneath the loud pounding of her heart, she heard Luna screaming, "Oh My Goddess. Thank you for answering my prayers."
Transfixed, Isabella stared into Damian's eyes until they turned green. Then he shook his head rapidly, coming back to his senses, and staggered away from her, his eyes filled with rage.
"No, no, no," Damian whispered.
"What's wrong, Damian?" Alpha Alexandro asked.
"This cannot happen," He bellowed, green eyes glaring down at Isabella. "I, Damian Alexandro of the Crescent Park, reject you as my mate, Lady Isabella Morgana."
"What?" A sharp pan seared into Isabella, licking at her veins, burning like wildfire in her blood. She hunched over, hearing Luna yell over it all. She clutched her chest, struggling to breathe through the pain as she stared at Damian's cold eyes. He looked remorseful but resolved. His jaw clenched as he watched her writhe and in that moment, she hated him. Hated that he had caused her to feel pain. "Why?" She murmured, weakly. "I am sorry," He whispered, looking away guiltily. "Sorry?" She chuckled, straightening. He had caused her pain, humiliated her before everyone in the pack and he had the guts to say a flimsy "sorry" to her? What had she done to deserve such a horror from the Moon goddess? She had been good, hell all her life, for as long as she could remember, she had done her best to be good, so why? Why, Damn it! She would not cry. Not before the entire pack. Not when Damian had torn her down like this before them. "Damian," The Alpha bellowed, walking over to
Sean remained silent. Isabella watched his eyes slowly turn blue and his face grow cold. Her heart skipped in fear, and she pulled away from him slowly, already expecting the worst. "Sean?" she called, alarmed when he simply rose up and walked out of the room. Shit! Shit! She had messed up. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, and she sank into her bed, trying to process the entire encounter. Werewolves got second chance mates. That was a widely known fact. What were the odds that both mates would be men she grew up with? Her door creaked open, and Isabella sat up quickly hoping it was Sean. Her face fell when she saw Luna standing at the door, curious and concerned. "Isabella?" she called, walking into the room, "I saw Sean leave in a hurry. He did not do anything to you, did he?" Of course, she thought the worst about her own son, Isabella thought sadly. The same man who had helped her right before everyone, away from the prying eyes and cruel whispers. Sean was the kindest
Isabella's heart raced as she stared at the man before her. A man she was sure she had never for once, seen in her life, but it still felt like she was staring at herself. Her breath caught in her throat, and her mind reeled with confusion. What's he talking about?Surely, it cannot be true. The Luna, sensing Isabella's shock, rose gracefully from her seat and moved to Isabella's side, gently taking her trembling hand in a reassuring grip. Isabella's gaze flickered to the Luna, questioning her with her eyes. With a shaky voice, She finally managed to speak, her words quivering with disbelief, “What… what is going on here?”The man, who could as well be her identical twin, took a step closer, his voice soft.“Isabella, I know this is hard to believe. I'm your brother. My name is Daug.”She raised her brow, “Your name is Dog?”He chuckled, “No. D-A-U-G. It's kind of a nickname that stuck. I'm Jayden.”Jayden.That name too sounds vaguely familiar. Just so vaguely. But Jayden is such a
“Excuse me?” Isabella gasped staggering back because surely he wasn't serious. But he looked serious. She could see it in his eyes, how serious and intent he was. This was a man on a mission.“Of course,” Jay responded, staring at her as if she's the one being ridiculous, “I have found you now, Bella thanks to the goddess. You must come home without haste.”“Surely you don't expect me to just pack my bags and follow you, do you?”“Why the hell not?”“Because, it doesn't work that way. I have a life here, I have a home here - a family. I can't just abandon all those in the blink of an eye.”Her brother blinked at her, “But your rightful place is in Nightingale. That's where you belong. That is where your true family is.”“We are her true family here.” The Luna chimed in but her husband placed a hand on her lap, giving her a warning look.“Listen,” not knowing what to do with her hands other than fidget, Isabella took her brother's in hers and squeezed them lightly, “I understand you. I
Isabella was stunned speechless and she stood staring at her brother. She wanted to say something - perhaps a reassurement that she would do what needed to be done, would have been nice but it seems she was incapable of forming coherent thoughts at the moment.Although Jayson didn't look he minded. He gave her a half smile, “That must be a lot.” Isavella released a breath not bothering to hide how bothered she actually was.“What do I know about leading a pack? What do I know about being a better leader? I mean - it's just….”“The duty is yours because the goddess believes that you have what it takes to be a leader. You might not exactly have it all figured out now, but you will always have me. And you grew up with one of the best Alphas around here so it might not be as difficult as you think.”“Dad never came for me,” she blurted out, having no idea where that came from but still continued, “he told me to run. I remember he told me to run - and I did. And he never came for me.”Jay
Chapter 07Isabella would not say she was surprised when the shock on Sean's face quickly got replaced by a blank mask and expression.Did it hurt her? Definitely. But surprised? No.She knew what was coming - suspected so she slowly backed away as if distance would stop whatever Sean's response would be from hurting.“You are not serious.” Sean signed.“I am one hundred percent serious. You can come with me - nobody here values you anyway. You will become Aloha, by my side and -”Sean held his hand up, cutting her off.“It’s not that easy.”“Not that easy, or you just don't want to.”His hands moved frantically, “You don't seem to understand what's going on here. No matter how much you want this, or how much I do - it cannot be. It hurts me, yes, but this can't happen for your sake, Isavella.”“For my sake?”“Yes! For your sake. Fine, you are the heir to the Nightingale pack. What will people think when you present a cursed mate to them? I am fine with it, but I'm not fine with havin
Isabella smiled warmly when she opened her eyes to the soft flickers of Sun Rays coming from the windows, and the warm breath of Sean against her neck as he snuggled close to her.She was happy. And it was not just the normal light happiness - no.This happiness came from deeper within, and it spread all sorts of butterflies and warm nerves through her body making her giddy in delight. She yawned and stretched before turning to look at Sean;s beautiful face again.Oh how gorgeous he looks like this. Relaxed, not thinking or worrying - just relaxed.Isabella stared at his lips and her grind widened as it brought back delicious memories to her.Slowly as if her thoughts were loud enough to stir his sleep, Sean opened his eyes and met her gaze. Then his gaze stretched into a beautiful smile. At that moment she just knew that she would be fine. No matter what, she would be alright because she had her mate with her.She had Sean by her side. She will have to tell her brother that he is com
Sean had been called several things in this miserable life of his.He has been called a weakling, taboo, cursed, The Mute Heir - the cursed Alpha. And even though growing up those discriminating words and taunts hurt like hell, by the time he was a teenager he had learnt to just ignore them - that was wrong. More like he learnt to accept and embrace them. With time he allowed these words to become his branding, what he is, his identity and it was easier, way easier for him because at least it stopped hurting when he already came in terms with his fate and just accepted that this was the destiny written for him.To be a taboo. To be in the shadows. And goddess above how much he loved staying in the shadows, how much he loved being invincible and just watching everyone else go about their lives without saying a word - not that he could. And the shadows were exactly where he had hid, as he watched the girl he had grown to love, his mate - well, ex mate - the love of his life, ride away i
I was shaking in anger as I stormed into my room. My parents had been in the sitting room talking about something but I didn't care to pause or stop to greet them - I was too angry to pay heed to anyone. Once I got to my room, I flung myself to the bed, and shut my eyes tightly as if they would, in any way, take away the anger or the whole reality of the mess surrounding me. It didn't. The anger only built because closing my eyes made me remember the princess slash monster and her words. /You cannot stop them./ So what then is the point of all these? What exactl;y were we doing here? If we cannot stop them, if really nothing can be done, that means I was just wasting my precious time. Might as well just sit, live my life and allow the monsters to kill and kill until they get to me. At least I knew what was coming and whatever time I had left I could make use of it to live to the fullest. But it didn't make any sense. If truly nothing could be done about this - if there was t
“It's been more than twenty four hours. Do you have any idea why exactly the guidances asked me to come here?” Sean thought loudly to Aaron and the wolf grumbled. “I don't know, Sean. They sent you here so whatever the reason might be, I'm sure you will find out soon enough.” Sean didn't like this at all. He didn't. Since he got here, all his uncle had actually done was feed him, show him a room then disappeared. They have not gotten a chance to have a conversation yet. He didn't like that he was just wasting time here while Isabella was out there somewhere…doing goddess knows what. He needs… He needs to get to her. He needs to do whatever it is possible to get to her. What was he thinking listening to those.. people? What on earth was he thinking when he allowed them to convince him? What if it was all a trick? “You need to calm down, Sean. I can't count how many times I have told you these over the days. Calm down and trust that everything will fall into place,”

“This all sounds…unbelievable. I mean I have heard these myths and stories but I never thought that they were actually true.” Jay said after long minutes of listening to Isabella narrating everything she has been up to for the past few days, “And I have so many questions. How did they know where to find you? And will we ever get to go home one day?”“Sure, we will definitely get to go back home Jay,” she said although a small teeny part of her really doubted that, “we will…I promise. As for how they got to know, that's something I have not figured out yet but I definitely will.”Jay gave her a small nod, "Okay. So what's next for you...for us?""Nothing much. “Are you going to keep on avoiding me Brenda?” “I don't think you want to know the answer to that question,” the woman snapped, not looking his way. Enzo sighed as he stared at her back, wondering…just wondering what he had done for the goddess to pair him up with such a stubborn brute. He followed her. No way would she just avoid him this time. They had to talk. It's been months, yet they keep circling around each other without addressing the issue and Enzo is tired of it. He has had it up to his neck. “What is your problem?” “Stop following me, Enzo.” She responded and her steps quickened but he didn't listen to her. “No I won't. No, Brenda hear me out for fuck's sake!” Thankfully she stopped but when she turned around to look at him, the look in her eyes would have made a lesser man run in the opposite direction. “You are being a child and you know it. We need to talk about this, we need to address this issue because -” “We do not have anything to talk about or address, E

“We…have been at this, for three days now! Is there a point to this at all or are you trying to make me discover some other hidden gem I might have in me?”Isaiah stopped running so suddenly that Isabella almost crashed into him, if she hadn't also stopped on time.“You know how peaceful it would be if you actually stop whining for a minute and just…do what's needed?”“Well, I'm sorry, sir for complaining. It's only the fate of the world at stake here while I'm doing runs everyday with you!” She spat, and swiped away sweat from her forehead with her hand before planting her hands on her hip.“I thought I was supposed to be learning how to control and use my newly discovered powers. It's been THREE DAYS!!, and I haven't even used it…damn it I don't even feel it anymore.”“Isabella…”“No wait! I'm not done. It's annoying. Sean would have choked on his saliva, if his throat was not too dry to form any.Give him his voice? That is not possible. He had been mute since birth…surely there is no way they could just give him his voice back.“There's nothing impossible for us to do, Werewolf!” The first man said his eyes blazing with fire, “not something as little as handing you a voice.”Sean swallowed but he still couldn't believe them. Who were they anyways?“We are the guardians of the universe, Sean. It is our job to protect and guard this universe … and that includes this earth.” The woman said softly and Sean confirmed there and then that she could actually read his mind.“There is so much at stake and we have to ensure that you aren't making the wrong decisions because of your emotions. This isn't the time you act solely based on your emotions. This is a time for us all to use our heart…not our head.”Sean nodded although deep down he didn't want to believe them - but the lady had been right. He knew w
