2 - My 18th Birthday

I wake up early, today I'm 18 and all alone in our home, my parents decided to take a holiday for a few days, so no party for me, unlike my older sister Melody, who's party was the party of all parties, I wasn't allowed to go, since Alpha Maddon decided that only 16 and older should be allowed at her party and since he's her boyfriend and our Alpha his word means more than I do.  I walk to the kitchen and make a bowl of ceral, I sit and listen to the quite in the house, my thoughts drifts to the lake and I jump up and run to my room.  I pull on my bathing suit and a loose dress and run out the back door heading for the lake. 

The sun is just coming over the mountains far off into the distance and I know that no one will be out here and I can enjoy the lake with no one to make fun of my body.  The last time I was here was with my sister Melody, she had just turned 18 and I was 14, we came here after dinner to take a late swim, just the two of us.  We swam out to the middle only to be called back in by my brother Luke and Alpha Maddon.  She swam with excitement, she was out of the water and ran up to Alpha Maddon, jumping into his waiting arms.  I walked out of the water, smiling at her joy, I went up to the picnic table and sat down, putting my shoes on.  She gave him her phone and asked sweetly, "please take a picture of me and Ash, I need a new one."  He grunted, but took her phone, he aimed it at me as Melody came up next to me, she hipped my shoulder for me to move over, when his voice echo'd in the quite night, "move your fat ass over and give your sister room."  She pouted at him, "be nice Maddy, she can't help it," her arm went around me and she smiled sweetly at the camera.  My brother thought it was hysterical and called me fat ass from that day forward.  I shook the memory out of my head and looked around the area, making sure I was alone before I removed my dress.  I ran into the water and splashed around, enjoying the cool water and the quite of the forest.  I dove in and began to swim to the middle, when a voice yelled out, "Get out now!"

I spun to see Alpha Maddon standing at the waters edge, his face angry as usual and my mind whirled with what I could have done now to make him be here this early.  I try to keep away from him, I was happy when my brother moved out to the pack house, he didn't come around as much.  Then he started dating Melody, very soon after and he was there more, until she and her best friend got an apartment.  It's been a year since I've had any contact with him, besides the times I couldn't avoid.  My heart is pounding out of chest as I stand and begin to walk in the shallow water.  My hands go around my body, trying to hide it from his view, I don't need him telling me how disgusting I am or ugly and fat.  My head bows as I approach him, my voice is low and barely above a whisper, "Alpha Maddon, what have I done now?"

My eyes widen as he begins a rejection and the realization that I'm his fated mate hits me, just as my heart clenches and explodes into a million pieces as his words filter through my mind, "I Alpha Maddon Falcone of the Blue Mountain pack reject you Ashley Silver as my mate and Luna."

My knees go weak and I fall to the ground in front of him, a heartbreaking scream leaves my chest as tears well in my eyes and fall in streams down my cheeks, I sob uncontrolably and yell at him, "WHY?"

I tilt my head to see him smiling at me, "I love another and she will make the perfect mate,  now accept the rejection."

I sob, trying to hold my body from falling to the floor, "I can't, I'll die the pain it's too much, please Alpha Maddon, don't make me do this."

He speaks, "if you die then your not strong enough to have been my mate, now accept it."

I nod my head and steel myself for the burst of pain that is sure to come, my voice is shaky and below a whisper, "you'll regret this Alpha Maddon," but I'll accept it, I inhale deeply,  I look up at him as I tilt my head, "I Ashley Silver accept your rejection Alpha Maddon Falcone."  I watch as he turns and walks away as the pain hits my chest and I fall to the ground, rolling in pain.  I whisper to myself, "you're fine, it's going to be okay, you're stronger than they all think," I don't know how long I laid there saying this over and over again until the pain finally lessened and I could sit up.  I pull my dress back over me and walk home, going directly to my room and into my ensuite to shower.

I approach the other pups, standing off to the side in a long t-shirt waiting to do our first shift, I stand looking at my brother, Alpha Maddon and Melody hanging off his arm.  I look away, staring into the forest  when her voice softly whispers in my ear, "happy birthday Ash," she kisses my cheek.  "Thanks," I say as Alpha Maddon's voice calls her and I watch as they walk away.  My brother instructs us what to do and I watch as most of the pups begin their shifts, I'm the last and haven't even started feeling the itch.  He cocks a brow at me, "okay, the rest of us will run, I'll come back and check on you later."  I stand there for another 30 minutes when my skin itches and fur begins to appear, when the transformation is over, I'm standing on 2 very long clawed feet, my hands are elongated with claws and I realize, I'm not a werewolf, I'm a Lycan.
