Shintara's POV

It was a bargain.

Iñigo was right when he said I needed to betray my own mate. I had to. It was for the better.

But my heart ached for him at this very moment.

I was still looking at him from afar right from when he pleaded for Amarantha's life. I was jealous of her. She was loved the most by the man I was also destined to— if only I hadn't rejected him.

And now that we're alone inside the meeting hall, I couldn't help but just stare at him.
