~Celine~
Two weeks later“Grr! Grr!”I threw my hand aggressively to the side of the bed, hitting the top of my alarm clock.“Urgh!” I groaned as I opened my eyes and had a long, satisfying stretch. I laid on my back and stared at the ceiling blankly.“Another day to be who I’m not.” I muttered, yanking the sheets off my lower body.I don’t feel bad that I’m pretending to be someone else, I mean, who doesn’t pretend some time in their lifetime?Being Jessica Hale has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Here in Beacon city, no one knows who I am. I’m just some lone wolf trying to earn a living. After running away from New York City and got here, I rented an apartment, got new IDs, some new wigs and even outfits that are totally different from what I’d wear if I was still Celine Gomez.I had enough money to do all these all thanks to my sweet one night stand. I was shocked to find out he doubled the money I asked for, and I’m indeed grateful.I guess he was really into me.Getting out of bed, I walked to my wall and smiled softly. On the wall was a picture of Alpha Kilhan which I retrieved from the internet. I printed it out and pasted it on my wall so I can see his face everyday when I wake up.I missed him. And I know it is stupid of me to miss my one night stand, but I can’t help but think about him. Even though he has probably forgotten about me.He made me feel good. Our time together was spent like we were a couple. It felt like we did have feelings for each other.I lifted my hand and traced my finger on his face.“Blame my stupid father for scaring me away from you.” I mumbled as I looked away.I had less than an hour to get to the coffee shop I now worked at. Working at the coffee shop at first was pretty exhausting but soon I got used to it.Though I still had some money left from Alpha Kilhan’s, I couldn’t just sit at home and do nothing.I hurried into the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for the day. After a few minutes, I was out and I began to get dressed.I picked my uniform which was a red Polo with the name of the coffee shop, ‘The Small Mouth Coffee Roasters’ inscribed on its chest.I wore Jeans pants and picked a tag with my name, attaching it to the chest of my uniform. I combed my hair and packed it in a ponytail, sprayed my body mist and also put on my white sneakers.Faced by my reflection in my mirror, I looked cute but needed my final touch. I reached for my face cap and nose mask and put them on.Though the people of Beacon City had super powers in minding their businesses, I still didn’t want to take a chance. My father doesn’t give up easily.Throwing my tote bag on my shoulder, I picked up my scooter keys. Don’t be surprised, Alpha Kilhan’s money helped me get so many useful things.Getting out of my apartment, I hopped on my scooter and rode down to the coffee shop.I got to the Coffee shop five minutes before the resumption time. The shop was already opened which meant my boss, Mr. Norway was around.“Mr. Norway. Good morning.” I greeted immediately when I saw him.Mr. Norway happens to be a lone wolf like me. Since he lost his pack, he worked hard to fend for his wife and only son.“Jessica! Good morning!” He answered with excitement and vitality.“Is there a special occasion today? You seem pretty excited.” I added as I dropped my bag behind the counter and began to clean.“Yes. My son is coming back home today! He’s coming to pay us a visit!” He answered happily.“Wow, that’s great news, Mr. Norway.”“Thank you, Jessica. I can’t wait for you to meet him. He’s visiting the shop first.”I nodded and smiled widely. “I can’t wait to meet him too.”Mr. Norway has never stopped talking about his son to me. How proud his son was making him. All these kept making me regret the kind of father I have, but at the same time, I am happy for him. He deserves the best. After cleaning, I got to work. Customers began to come in, and I got busy preparing their orders. I was the only worker at the moment, so I had so many work loads on me.“Two iced Americano coming right up!” I uttered, keeping my smile real. Some customers waited in the shop to have their coffee, while some preferred to take them away.“There you go.” I said to the young woman, passing her the coffee cups.“Thank you.” She answered and turned to leave.Just then, another customer walked in. A familiar customer at that. A boy probably in his late teens. He is the most annoying customer ever. Anytime he showed up, he was always talking too much, doing too much. More like a Brat.‘I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a rich Alpha’s son.’“Hi, good morning. What can I get you?” I asked, trying to keep my anger hidden.“Actually,” he moved closer to the counter, resting his hands on it. “Can I have you instead?” He asked with an idiotic grin, revealing his set of yellow teeth.“We are not doing this today. Are you getting coffee or not?” I asked, rolling my eyes. I know what I would have done if I was still Celine Gomez. He would have never tried this sh*t with me.“Fine! I’ll get one, after you answer my question. Why are you always putting on that cap and nose mask?” He further questioned, and I heaved a sigh of frustration.“It’s none of your business. Please leave.” I answered, staying as calm as I could ever be.“C’mom, baby girl. You know I feel you. Why do you keep acting so hard to get. I can take care of you, take you away from this wretched shop into a more comfortable office…”“Or I can throw you out right now if you don’t shut up.” A young man interrupted him from behind. I looked up to see who this man was, and he didn’t seem familiar. He was tall and had a pretty face.“But…”“One more word and you’ll regret coming into this coffee shop today.” He cut him short firmly, moving closer to him like he was going to throw a punch to his face.Muted in fear, the boy turned to leave angrily. “I’ll report both of you to my father!” He yelled as soon as he got to the door.“Of course he’s a spoiled child.” I mumbled, shaking my head in disgust.“Thank you, sir.” I said to the young man, and he turned to look at me with a smile on his face.“It’s nothing. Someone had to put him in his place.” He answered and I nodded in agreement.“What would you like to have, sir?” I asked, pointing at our long menu on the counter so he could select from it.He chuckled and bent his upper body to read through the list carefully.“I want it all.” He uttered, and I creased my brows in confusion.“What?” I asked in awe, and he raised his head to look at me.“I said I want it all.” He retorted with a grin, making me speechless.‘Is he toying with me right now?’ I asked myself. I wasn’t sure if I could take him seriously or not. It was the first time I got such an order.“On it… I guess.” I answered; and just then, Mr. Norway walked out of his office.“Xavier! You’re here!” He called with his eyes widened in excitement.“Father.” The young man answered with a chuckle. He walked to the back of the counter where I was and hugged his father rightly.‘So he is the son. He must have been teasing me.’ I thought as a hearty smile formed on my face, watching them reunite.“Hi Jessica. It’s great to finally meet you.” He uttered, stretching forth his hand in a handshake.“It’s nice to meet you too, Mr. Xavier.” I answered, shaking his hand.“Just call me Xavier. Don’t make me feel old.” He retorted, and I chuckled softly, nodding my head.“Okay, Xavier.” I answered, and he nodded, his eyes glued to mine.“Come on, boy. Let’s go do some catching up. You’ll have all the time to talk to Jessica later.” His father teased, pulling him into his office.I smiled and bowed slightly as they both walked away. I adjusted my nose mask, keeping it on when I sighted something in the hands of one of the customers that drank coffee. With my brows furrowed, I stormed to the man without thinking, my eyes locked on the paper he had in his hands.“Can I please see that?” I asked, and he gave it to me.My heart sank to my belly when I saw my face on the paper with WANTED ALIVE written boldly on top of it.My eyes widened as I looked at the bottom of the papers and saw a reward of $10,000,000 and a phone number to call if I was seen.“What the f**k?!” I cursed under my breath.‘Why would he put a f**king bounty on me?!’Alpha Kilhan “Don’t you think that reward is just too much for her?” Drex asked, and I shook my head. “Nothing is too much for my mate, Drex. You of all people should understand this. You found your mate, didn’t you?” “Yes, I did. I’m just worried about you, that's all.” “Don’t worry about me, Drex. I know exactly what I want and I want her. Have you started receiving any calls?” I asked, sitting behind my desk. “Not yet. The papers were shared just this morning. It will take a little time before we start receiving calls.” He answered, and I bobbed, reaching for the files he brought to me. “I think we should discuss our expansion plan to the pack. Who knows? They’ll have some ideas to share with us.” He added, and I nodded in agreement. “Pass a message across to them. We will be having a meeting as soon as possible.” I answered and he nodded, standing up and walking out of the office. I packed up a copy of the ‘Wanted’ posters we shared and stared at her face again. ‘I know t
~Celine~“Do you need a hand?” Xavier asked, picking up another apron and putting it on. “Oh… you don’t have to. I got this.” I responded with a faint smile underneath my mask. “But I want to.” He answered, turning to look at the next customer. “Your order, please.” After finding out my father put a bounty on me, I lost focus. I became so disorganized because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I became slow to prepare customer’s orders and even spilled coffee twice, right in front of the customers. Xavier must have noticed this and that was why he decided to help. ‘Now, there is no way I’m coming out without a face cap or mask, except I change my look.’ I began to think of ways to do so, and I came up with a great idea. ‘I would trim my hair and put my wigs to work. I’ll learn how to apply makeovers that would completely change my face.’ My father may be a smart man, but I’m smarter. After managing to get through the day with Xavier’s help, closing time was finally here. I cou
~Celine~ Today is a special day. It’s the Wolf Moon and here in Beacon City, according to Xavier, it is often celebrated by a masked Moonlight party. Everything here is just so different compared to New Orleans where my father rules. Today in New Orleans, some people never step out of their houses because of how messy it can be at night. My father would even order some killings on this day. It is the greatest alabi he’s always had. Initially, I wanted to stay home tonight, but then Xavier invited me to this party. At first, I wanted to refuse because I have a f**king bounty on me. But later I agreed to go with him. It’s a masked party. Nothing can go wrong. I stood in front of my mirror, faced with my reflection as I began to apply my makeup for the day. There are so many things I’d love to put in place before stepping out of my house and into a party filled with wolves of heightened abilities. I put on my grudge eye makeup, fixed my wine bob wig, and put on lots of body spra
~Celine~Even though I knew deep down that leaving Xavier alone at the party was uncalled for, I couldn’t ignore Alpha Kilhan’s constant sulking, begging me to go home with him. But I couldn’t just make such a decision. I had a life in Beacon City and I couldn’t just let go of it and return to New York City, especially when I still have a bounty on me. My father is probably still turning the earth upside down just to find me. I can’t come out of this mask. Not now. “Jessica baby, C’mon. You don’t have to think too hard about this. We both know we are supposed to be together, don’t we? We feel the same thing. The same intense connection. Why is it so hard to accept this?“Are you scared I’ll hurt you? I will never do that. And if you think I’d be with another woman, erase that thought from your head, I haven’t been with any other woman since we met. So please, come home with me.” He further convinced me, staring into my eyes. I knew he was my mate. But am I ready to settle down wit
~Celine~ Getting outside my apartment, I looked up and found Kilhan already close to Xavier. With one hand, he grabbed him by the neck, lifting him from the ground and aggressively pinning him against the wall of my apartment. “Kilhan!” I called in terror, as fear and awe glued my feet to where I stood. “Uhm… let me go,” Xavier grunted as he grabbed Kilhan’s hand, struggling and fighting for his dear life. Kilhan said no words, but his eyes said a lot. They were burning in rage, and he didn’t seem to mind if Xavier lost his life right on that spot. “Kilhan, please.” I finally moved from my doorstep and moved closer to him. I wasn’t sure what to do to stop an Alpha in such a situation. He was gone in rage. Before I knew it, Kilhan raised his left hand and I saw his claws protrude out of his fingers so fast. My eyes popped wide open as my brain immediately registered what was about to happen. “Kilhan!” I yelled, hastily embracing him from behind. “If you do this, I will never
~Celine~The ray of the sun found its way into my room through my window, hitting my sleepy face. “Uhm.” I groaned, turning to my side so I could avoid the intense brightness I could feel under my eyelids. My eyes slightly opened as I stared at the wall. At first, my vision was blurry, but then I blinked several times until I could get a clearer vision. Memories of the previous night came running down my memory lane, making me roll my eyes. Kiara made me do what I didn’t want. It was indeed pleasurable, I enjoyed it. But, if I had my way, he wouldn’t have marked me so soon. While I thought about it, I recalled we fell asleep cuddling, but now, I couldn’t feel him close to me anymore. I turned to my right to look at him, only to find out I was alone on the bed. He was nowhere to be found. “Alpha Kilhan?!” I called, looking at the door to my bathroom, hoping he was going to answer from inside there or come out, but I was wrong. Everywhere was silent. “Where the hell is he?” I m
~Celine~After successfully admitting Xavier to the nearest hospital, I rushed back to my apartment, still thinking about what he said. ‘How could he do that to him?! To me?! He made himself clear last night! Why did he have to do this?‘That is why he was nowhere to be found when I woke up!’ Getting into my apartment, I began to pack my clothes again. This time, it was to run away from Alpha Kilhan as fast as I could. “I knew I should never have trusted him! I knew he was just like the other horrible Alphas! I will never go with him! I hate him!” I yelled in guilt for Mr. Norway’s life. Because of me, their family was destroyed. I just wanted a normal life! ‘Why would the Moon Goddess give me an Alpha mate after what happened to my mother? If this isn’t cruelty, I don’t know what is!’ I filled two large boxes with my clothes and other important amenities. I emptied my money-safe box and put it in my backpack. “He will never see me again. He will regret doing this.” I muttered
~Celine~“Hey, baby, wake up. We are here.” I heard Alpha Kilhan’s voice from afar, causing me to groan in frustration. I was having the best nap of my life and he decided to ruin it. “C’mon, Jessica. You can continue sleeping inside, okay? I bet your neck hurts from sleeping here.” He added, unbuckling the seat belt that held me to the chair. “Hmm… fine,” I responded, finally opening my eyes. His face was very close to mine, and he kept smiling sweetly at me. “Welcome back.” He teased, causing me to roll my eyes and playfully push him away. I smiled softly as I raised my head to look at his mansion. I lifted my eyebrows as I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of his house. It wasn’t only big, but painted in white. The window and door frame were coated in gold glitter. I knew I shouldn’t expect something less. Before I could get out of the car, I saw some men, about six of them, rush out of the large door of the house, taking long strides towards us. “What’s happening?” I
~Celine~ After Two Years “Kendrick!” I called out as he ran out of the room. I sprang to my feet and ran out of the room to grab him, only for me to see that Kilhan had grabbed him already. “Haa.” I sighed. “He’s so fast for a two-year-old,” I muttered, shaking my head tiredly. “Well, he is my son, of course, he’s going to be faster and stronger than any other child. I can’t wait for him to start running faster than this.” Kilhan responded while Kendrick chuckled in his arms. “Time is all you need. Now, can you please get him away from me so I can rest?” I asked with a smile, planting a kiss on Kilhan and Kendrick’s cheeks. “Right,” Kilhan answered and turned to leave. “Mama,” Kendrick called, waving at me as Kilhan started to walk away. “I love you, baby,” I responded, blowing him a kiss before heading back into the room. I got into the room and slammed into the bed. I lay flat on my back as I stared at the ceiling. About a year ago, before Kendrick turned one, Kilhan and
~Charles~ The Next DayWe all stood under black umbrellas as the rain drizzled. In front of us was a priest conducting Mrs Anna’s funeral. Kilhan ordered that his late mother be buried in the compound so she’s always close to home. He needed that warmth. At my right stood Celine, holding onto Kilhan tightly. Sadness was evident on their faces. One of his men held up an umbrella for them. I kept a straight face, adjusting my black shirt and tie as I watched them put her casket into the ground. “Are you okay?” Caesar asked softly, and I nodded, keeping my eyes on the casket. “Yes, I am. Thank you.” I answered. He was the one holding up the umbrella for both of us. I wanted him to stay back at the house, but he insisted that he come with me. His exact words were “I am coming with you, Alpha Charles. I’ll be ready to protect you if anything happens.” Soon, Kilhan, Celine, and his pack members moved forward to pour sand on her casket before it was covered. All this while, I took g
~Alpha Kilhan~ Panting hard, I began to break into the rooms one after the other, leaving Charles and Drex to deal with the men who were watching and guarding the place. I stormed into the fifth room, and what I saw made my eyes widen in terror. Celine sat on a chair and behind her was a man, who had a knife placed against her ear. There was blood slowly flowing from her ear, letting me know he was starting to hurt her. Immediately he saw I was in the room, he moved the knife to her neck. “Take one more step and that is the end. Even though you kill me, I have nothing to lose.” He uttered, pressing the sharp part of the knife against her skin. He pressed it so hard that she winced in pain while she stared at me with her teary eyes. “Kilhan.” She called softly. “Don’t you dare speak, woman!” He yelled, pressing the knife against her skin ever harder. “Hey!” I put my hands forward, hoping he would stop. “Tell me what you want. I’ll give you anything. Just let them go.” I uttere
~Celine~ “Hmmm!” I groaned as my head felt too heavy for my neck to carry. “Hmm.” Though I opened my eyes, I saw total darkness. I tried to move, but I realized that I couldn’t move. I couldn’t move my hands and legs. I tried to open my mouth to speak, but there was a barrier in my mouth too. “Hmmmm!” I moaned loudly again as I remembered what happened before I blacked out. ‘Kendrick!’ I yelled in my head as I began to struggle with my restraints. “Struggling isn’t going to help you.” I heard a distant voice, and before I knew it, I felt someone pull the blindfold bag off my head. The barrier in my mouth was also loosened The bright light in the room stung my eyes, causing me to squint painfully. “Who the hell are you?! Where is my son??!” I yelled with my eyes still closed. The bright white light was directly set in front of me, so when I tried to open my eyes, I saw nothing behind the lights. “It’s so nice to see you again, Jessica.” The voice drew closer, and when then, a
~Alpha Kilhan~ “Thank you so much for coming,” I uttered with a wide smile, slightly bowing to my mother’s friends. “Please enjoy the party,” I added, before walking away. I raised my head and looked around, scanning the living room for Celine but she was nowhere to be found. While I moved further away from the guests, about to start a thorough search for Celine, I saw Charles running down the stairs, panting heavily. I creased my brows and took long strides toward the stairs. As soon as our eyes met, I watched him struggle with trying to keep his composure. “Come with me.” He whispered as soon as he got down the stairs. He turned a turn to the right and I followed after him, with the guards following closely. “What’s going on? Where is Celine and Kendrick?” I asked, taking a glance around to make sure people weren’t watching. “They are nowhere to be found.” He responded with gritted teeth. “What are you talking about?? She was here with you minutes ago!” “Lower your voice!
~Celine~ ~After Three Months~ “Oh no! Kendrick!” I yelled in frustration, staring at him in disbelief. “What? Why are you yelling at him like that?” Betty answered with a frown on her face, moving closer to me and taking him from me. “I just finished bathing and cleaning him up, only for him to poop and mess up his diapers again! The party had long started and I haven’t even shown my face because of him.” I muttered. “Hey, you can’t tell him not to poop when he wants, okay? If it’s about you showing your face to the party, then go. I’ll clean him up and bring him down.” Betty responded, smiling widely at Kendrick. She raised him in the air, still smiling widely at him, and he smiled back at her. I heaved a sigh and nodded. “Are you sure? You shouldn’t miss the fun too. I can quickly clean him up.” “Celine, I’m fine. I can take care of him. You should greet the guests. You're Luna, remember? Plus, I think Kendrick likes me more today.” She uttered, and Kendrick let out another
~Alpha Kilhan~“Alpha Kilhan!” I heard someone call my name from outside the door, causing me to look in its direction. “Who is there?” “It’s Drex. Your mother wants to see you and it’s pretty urgent. Told her you are trying to rest, but she insisted.” “Argh.” I groaned, heaving a sigh. “I’ll join her soon. Thank you.” I dragged myself out of the bed and sat up, letting out another tired sigh. I have been so busy with business these past few days that I hardly have time for myself, and to my greatest surprise, Celine seems to be cool with that. Right now, I believe she cares about Kendrick and her friendship with Betty more than us. I was happy everything was peaceful but I really miss her. Actually, I miss her every day. The very next minute she leaves my side, I’m missing her already. Feeling like a young man in love, I walked to my closet to get a casual outfit. I picked a green shirt and a pair of jeans, put them on, and headed out to see my mother. Walking down the hallwa
~Charles~ Sitting in front of the computer, my mouth parted in a wide yawn as I reached for the coffee cup next to my hand. If I counted correctly, I already spent three hours in the private room, with my eyes fixed on the screen non-stop. I just understood why my late father never left this room. After taking a large gulp from the coffee cup, I took a glance away from the screen to place the cup back on the table, only for me to look up and see that the computer had gone off. “What the hell is wrong with this thing?” I muttered in frustration. It was the second time in three hours that it had gone off and it was beginning to piss me off. I had to call Ceaser both times to make it start working again, but this time, I was going to do it myself. I watched him closely both times. ‘I can do this.’ I stood up and pushed my chair back. I stared at the wire and socket he touched and nodded, assuring myself. I knelt in front of the junction box and picked up the wires. Recalling how h
~Unknown~ Getting out of my towel, I lay flat on the bed fully naked. The breeze coming in from my windows and touching my skin was the best feeling ever. I let out a deep sigh and stared at the ceiling. ‘This would be the perfect time for Betty to be here, laying next to me.’ I thought with a wide smile on my face. It’s been almost two weeks since we last saw each other. After leaving here, she didn’t call or text. And I can’t do the same. She warned me several times not to reach out first as this could be dangerous for both of us. But now, I really want to text her and tell her how much I miss and love her. I can’t just wait for this whole plan to be over and then we can finally be together. While I fantasized about the perfect happily ever after ahead of us, a message popped into my phone, jolting me out of my thoughts. I hastily sprang to my feet to reach for my phone. I recognized that sound perfectly. Anytime it sounded, I knew it was Betty texting. I grabbed my phone an
