CHAPTER 6
Ava's Point Of View'Wolves that read minds'I could feel the burning intensity in Kaden's kiss, my rogue alpha mate. I tried to push him off me but this was what I needed. I needed to feel the warmth of my mate, I needed his touch. I craved his kisses.'No but he is a rogue! The beginning of all your misfortunes. He is the reason why you had to run away from home.' my better judgment tried to plead it's case. But my wolf was more than forgiving to our mate. Should I really forgive him?"Come with me!" He says breaking off the kiss, leaving me panting hard."Let's go back to my pack. I'll protect you and I promise to make it up to you. If you are my mate Ava, then we belong together, that much is obvious." Kaden said holding my hands, his eyes screamed sincerity. I really wanted so badly to believe every word he was telling me.But everything we werewolves have been taught ever since we were little pups were not to trust the words of rogues. They would say whatever they needed to say, they would lie to get what they wanted. The second they get a chance they would sink their claws into your back.We were taught to believe that rogues were ruthless, merciless and evil to the core. And Kaden Matheson was the worst they got.He was a monster and the most feared Alpha in the entire supernatural world. He held the most ruthless and destructive pack. They killed and destroyed every pack they came across. They were monsters! Kaden Matheson was the face of the devil!"No! I don't want to come with you and I don't need your protection. You've done enough ruining my life. Goodbye Kaden." I said to him, clutching tight to my backpack. I couldn't identify the emotions on his face, he didn't seem angry, at the most he looked hurt. And it hurt my wolf too.I turned around when I heard him say."I had a feeling you were going to say that." Kaden scoffed. Then I felt his strong arms clutch my neck in a choke hold, I could feel my vision suddenly get blurry. My body felt weak, I couldn't stand so I fell back into his arms. I looked into his eyes."Sleep well, little wolf." That was the last thing I heard as my eyes closed shut."No, no. Get you fucking hands off me!" I screamed panting like crazy, waking up from my long nap.I wasn't in the woods anymore. No, where I was looked nothing like my room back home.I was in a grande room, a colorful one. I laid on a king size bed, there was a tall glass window frame which allowed the moonlight to shine in.'Where the fuck was I?' My inner wolf, Lisa, asked, totally confused about the situation. The doors were opened, letting in a tall figure."Oh great, you're finally awake. So how are you feeling?" The figure asked with a thick English accent prominent in his voice. He came closer to me. He was strikingly handsome, he was six foot tall with golden brown hair and a pair of golden eyes. They looked unreal."I feel like I just got ran over by a fucking rhino, what do you think Goldie?" I said, placing my hand on my head.He just laughs. "You have a sense of humor, I like that. I think we will get along well." He says."Where's the rogue that knocked me out?" I asked him."Who? My brother Kaden? Yeah he is probably somewhere by himself sulking." He murmured.Wait! Did He just say brother? So Kaden Matheson has a brother? I never knew that."You are his brother?" I had to ask to be sure. You couldn't blame me, all we really knew about Kaden was his ruthlessness and cruelty."Yeah, I'm Nikolas but you can just call me Kole. I'm Kaden's favorite younger brother. He doesn't really bring home lady friends, well except those he uses to blow off some steam." Kole said."I'm not his friend. I'm his m---" I was interrupted."You're his mate? That's Interesting." Kole figured. How did he know, was he able to read my mind. Well he couldn't, right? Werewolves shouldn't be able to read minds right? We were werewolves, not witches. This was insane. Let me guess, next I'll learn that there's disappearing werewolves?"No I don't read thoughts, I am able to hear your thoughts. And you know your stuff, werewolves shouldn't be able to read minds but we are simply an upgrade darling." Kole's words were unbelievable, he left me with so many questions. He could read minds. What the hell was he? Was Kaden like him too? I need to get out of here."And so can my brother, so try not to think about anything that is going to piss him off, like trying to get out of here." Kole said with a wink, he was having lots of fun hearing my thoughts. No! He can be reading my thoughts right now. I needed to block my thoughts. I place my hands over my head."That's not going to help. I can still hear your thoughts." The annoying rogue laughs literally hearing my thoughts, probably thinking I'm stupid. A loud growl left my stomach. My belly was trying to tell me that it was hungry."Okay, follow me, let's get you something to eat." He says, leading the way as I followed him.Kole led me through the castle. Yes, they lived in a fucking huge castle, with about a zillion rooms to spare. It was unbelievable that a house could be this huge. We walk past some unfamiliar faces, all rogues. I could tell by their smell, that's not all I could tell. They all possessed a very powerful aura, one to match an alpha.'Could they all be Alpha's?' Lisa thought but that would be impossible. Right? A pack of Alpha's was a completely bizarre thought. We finally reached the kitchen. It was really big. I sat on one of the kitchen stools watching him."I think we still have some leftover pizzas." He says to himself. Finding a leftover pizza box.He takes out the pizza and puts it in the microwave."Don't do that," I say automatically and Kole freezes."Why not?" Kole asks."Because it'll taste better if you put it in the toaster or oven. I know it will be quicker, but the microwave always makes pizza mushy." I explain, I know I sound like a total brat right now.Kole snaps his fingers, "You actually are right. Thanks." He turns on the oven and places the pizza directly on the rack.Spinach Alfredo.I didn't care if it was still hot or not, I just took a piece and put the entire slice in my mouth."So I didn't get your name," Kole says, taking a bite off his own pizza."Ava," I blurt out, focusing back on my pizza.'Quit stuffing your face with pizza, we need to see our mate.' my inner wolf said to me.Yeah, right! We still needed to speak to him, so he let me go. I couldn't stay here and live among rogues."Where is Kaden?" I ask Kole, putting down my pizza."He just told me that he is out handling some business. Whatever that meant. But he will be around during our bonfire." Kole told me with a smile. He looked adorable, did I mention that. I don't know how he managed to look both handsome and cute at the same time."Bonfire? What's that?" I asked."It's kinda a traditional thing we do every night. See we 'monsters' know how to have fun sometimes." He explains, making me feel a bit bad. He didn't seem like a monster to me. He seemed like a cool guy that I would love to be friends with, under different circumstances."Aww… hearing you think that warms my cold rogue heart." Kole says, placing his hand on his chest."Shut up!" I laugh, shaking my head."And quit reading my thoughts." I told him."Sorry, it's just fun hearing everyone's dirty little thoughts. I can't help it." Kole replies."Please?" I say, hitting him with my best puppy dog eyes."Alright, alright. I'll stop but I'm not making any promises." Kole finally caves in."You really are persuasive." He says."Thank you!" I smile, victoriously.A couple howls erupted outside, followed by the sounds of drums. Rogues were gathered, chattering outside."Ahh it already starting." Kole said, dropping his pizza. "Are you joining the party?""I'll just sit this one out." I told him, He stares at me a bit, as if observing me, before speaking."Ava don't be too harsh on my brother, although he may not know how to express it but he does love you, just give him a chance. He is just going through a lot right now, more than you could imagine. There isn't a lot of time left, he really needs you, his mate by his side." Kole said before leaving me alone in the kitchen with his words. What did he mean by 'there isn't a lot of time left'? What was actually going on?Chapter 7I quickly finished up my dinner and started making my way back to my room, I felt completely tired and drained. I needed to get some rest. Suddenly, a masculine scent mixed with forest breeze hits me hard. It was intoxicating my entire senses, setting me in a high.'Mate!' my wolf sang happily. She really didn't mind that our mate was in fact the Alpha of rogues, after all I wasn't one to be judge, I could be called a rogue too.Maybe I should give him a chance. The scent was coming from the last room along the hall way. As if my feets had a mind of their own I raced towards the scent. I entered the room to see Kaden sitting behind a messy desk."Ava," he calls standing up. I could see a familiar look of the affection he showed me the night we mated but soon it faded into an unreadable stare. It was replaced with hate."Kole told me you weren't around." I say with a smile, all he reciprocated it with was a cold stare."I only came back just now. What do you want?" He answere
Chapter 8Kaden's Point Of ViewAnger was all I felt. I had so many reasons to be angry. I was angry at myself, I was angry at the moon goddess and I was angry about my mate.I was training with some warriors at the training ground, I needed to let off some steam, something to distract my thoughts, any distraction that I could get was welcomed. Without warning all the warriors including my beta Adrian charged at me, lunging and attacking me with every trick in their arsenal. My eyes changed from its glowing emerald gem color to a fiery red glow, it was an indication that my wolf, Ace, was sharing partial control with me.In swift strokes I thrashed and sent them falling against the dusty earth at every corner.Adrian charged at me from behind, his claws were extended, swinging for my head, but I easily managed to duck just in time. I let out a low growl in annoyance, I pounced at him, circling my claws around his neck, then pinning him to the ground. I growled at him, getting him to l
Ava's Point Of ViewNight had befallen the castle and the rogues were already outside busy doing their bonfire thing.I stood, staring out through the window, getting ready for my grand escape. Okay, it isn't so grand like I made it out to be, the plan was just going out through the window and bounded for freedom.Like I said it was grand.I walked to the grand window and opened it breathing in the fresh chilly night air. Finally, when I feel calm I decide to look down, that's a long way down."Fuck!" I curse looking down.I think I can make it! Right? I'm a freaking werewolf, of course I can, maybe I'll break a few bones but I'll be fine.I climb down gently and sit on the edge of the window before dropping, I land on my feet like I knew I would. I jumped out of a freaking four story castle! My wolf must be getting stronger!I look around the empty area before I sprint off into the trees. I continue to sprint loving the way the wind was blowing on my hair, I don't feel anxious anym
Ava's Point Of View The moonlight shone down on the gloomy foggy dark castle that sat still on top of the hill looming over nothingness that went on miles and miles. It really looked haunted.I look up at the ancient looking castle holding back my tears. I can't believe that I'm back here, one right move and I would have escaped. It was all that witch's fault!I shoot her my best murderous glare and she just smiles at it.I was out of the pack, I almost tasted freedom but she ruined it all, now I was doomed. Kaden was going to have my head for this, that's for sure."Relax, he is not going to kill you." The witch smirks."How do you know that he won't?" I shot at her."I know Kaden, a lot more than most people do. He isn't going to kill his mate, but he is going to make you suffer as fuck. Kaden always fancied torture." She explains. Just who the hell was this chick? How did she know so much about Kaden? By the way she speaks Kaden and she must have a deep rooted history together."D
Ava's Point Of ViewIf looks could kill, I would be dead by now, bleeding all over the floor with multiple incisions. The other woman stood there, just staring at me without saying a single word. She didn't need to though, her eyes said it all. She hated every piece of my existence, she wanted me gone out of her and Kaden lives so she could have Kade. I could tell she felt threatened by me."What the hell do you think you are doing in here, who gave you the permission to come out of your room?" She screamed. Kaden must have not told her that he himself gave me the permission to step out of my chambers. Oh goodness, this lunatic looked very pissed all because of me."Kaden. He gave me permission." I just said. If you looked carefully you could literally see steam coming out of her ears. She looked beyond furious. She was out for blood, whatever trouble she wanted to stir up, I didn't want any part in it this morning. I learnt my lesson pretty well from the last time and Kaden warned me
Ava's Point Of ViewA woman was stepping onto the stage towards a table set up in the center. She placed two bowls next to plates that were already prepared with food. Then she sat facing the pews and took a drink from one of the two glasses set as well. I was suspicious. Who was this stranger living within the goddess temple?"Won't you join me, Ava?" The woman suddenly asked loudly, her voice echoing throughout the room with ease. I ducked once again, trying to hide despite already being found. Then I was struck with another question, how the hell did she know my name? This felt really creepy."You don't want your food to get cold, do you?" The woman added. At the mention of food, especially food meant for my stomach rolled over with excitement even Lisa was now jumping in excitement. If anything could influence me to do something crazy, it had to be food. I took a deep breath and stood stubbornly, glaring at the strange woman suspiciously."What are you doing here?" I asked her bef
Ava's Point Of ViewThere was silence as I sat there, thinking about Mene's question. I could feel a great turmoil burn within me."Come, the temple exit is this way." she said, offering me her hand and I took it without even thinking, there was something about her presence, I couldn't explain it but it was comforting to me. With quiet determination, she began to lead me through a way out of the temple. We moved into a room, where wolves had no doubt previously come to worship the moon goddess and make offerings for their blessings. Now it was forever silent, removed from their culture.Mene led me further down a more secretive set of stairs until we were walking through the storage units. I spotted shelves of canned foods and preserves, but I wasn't given enough time to see exactly how extensive the food storage was. I was pulled into a rather dusty room and led through a series of cobwebs until Mene stopped to quietly lift an overhead latch. She hurriedly climbed up the steps that w
Kaden's Point Of ViewHow in bloody hell could this even be possible?!There were two gifted ones, that was impossible. What sick game was mother playing with me this time.First it was clear that Cassandra was the fated one who could break my curse and now it was her. My mate, Ava Sinclair.I had looked into Ava's eyes, unable to believe the truth. I was shocked to find the mark of the gifted one etched in her electric blue eyes. It was the shape of two crescent moons, both facing against each other. The very same ones Cassandra has on her back. This had to be some twisted plan set up by mother to get revenge on me from the grave, even after all this while mommy still holds a grudge. It was obvious Mother wouldn't be confined by something as meager as death, she knew for a fact that I would reject the mate she chose for me the instant we crossed part so she decided to make her the key I needed in breaking my curse.Clever, clever witch. Mother was indeed an architect of destruction,
Ava's Point Of View It's been a year since I've seen Kaden; he never came back for me; I stopped trying to escape after the Hunter's Moon passed. There was no reason to, the curse is unbreakable after the Hunter's Moon, Kaden is probably dead now along with the Midnight pack. I never got any news from Kole and Krys. They completely vanished without even seeking to find me.The worst part of it all is that Lucien and I mated!‘Ugh, would you please cut it out! That's not going to happen.’ I sigh at my wolf mentally.‘Understand that making up these crazy realities helps me to stay sane, alright.’ Lisa, my wolf, retorted, and I just sighed, indulging her crazy realities once more. Here we go again, it hasn't been one year at all, it has only been a day. My wolf was just making up scenarios because she's a bitch. ToThe peak of Hunter's Moon was only some hours away, so I could understand why my wolf was getting so anxious. Honestly, I was too. In some hours now, the Hunter's Moon woul
Kaden's Point Of View My growls vibrated through the earth's crust as I tore through another wolf from the elder pack, splitting him into two halves. I was covered from head to toe in blood, standing in a puddle of the blood of wolves working with Lucien and the Elders. I was going berserk without my mate, I needed to get her back or I swear I was going to fucking kill everyone breathing.I still haven't stopped thinking about her beautiful smile the night I took her to our secret garden. I would end the world just to see her smile like that again. It's been only two days since my mate was taken, but for me, it feels like an eternity being without my mate; every second without her felt like torture to my mind. Not knowing what that bastard was doing to her at this very moment kept me furibund. Saying I was going crazy was merely an understatement to describe what was happening to me. I was out of my darn mind without the little wolf. Ava's scent still lingered everywhere around me an
Ava's Point Of View I lay on the bed, not able to tell how long I was locked up in the room. It was driving me insane being locked up in here. I hated feeling like a prisoner. Oh, how I wish I was back at the pack before everything happened. I couldn't reach Kadenp through our mate bond; it was like it was gone as if there was nothing there. Something was interfering with it. Every time I reached out, all I could hear was an endless silence, but I could still feel him. I knew he was going crazy looking for me everywhere. I quickly jerk off from the bed as I hear the door knob suddenly twist. Someone was trying to come in. The doors silently push open, allowing in an unfamiliar face, holding a covered tray. "Whoa--" the stranger said, as he looked around the room with an open mouth. "This place looks nice." The stranger spoke, with an Italian accent. He placed the tray in a drawer as he carried on looking around. "And who the bloody hell are you?" I questioned, narrowing my pi
Ava's Point Of View "Kaden---" I moan a whisper, as I stirred in the bed. Beads of sweat trickled down my forehead, it was caused by the terrible dream I was having about me and Kaden being separated. It was a nightmare and once again I couldn't do anything but watch him die."No... Kaden..." I called again, feeling tears well around my eyes. A huge pain crushing me as I fight to escape the nightmare I was trapped in.I finally jolted up from the bed I laid, gasping in an ample amount of air. I paused, not able to move for a second, my eyes were stunned by the foreign environment surrounding me, I needed a minute to adjust to the environment I found myself in.'where the hell was I?' I ask myself. I couldn't remember how I got to this place that wasn't home.My hands clutch tightly to my head, as I feel a piercing ringing invade my mind. The pain came as I tried to recall what had happened before. I felt so weak, as if all my strength in me had been drained. I couldn't feel my wolf o
Kaden's Point Of View I had just left my pack and was on my way to meet Nadia, the vampire who knew Ava's mother. It was very important I saw her, she had been on the run and living in hiding for years now. She knew something important about Ava's mother and it was also important to Ava. We agreed to meet somewhere on the outskirts of the city, away from unseen eyes watching her. There was something that kept me uneasy, it was grating at the back of my mind. Ava's ominous dream was sent by my mother. My mother wasn't one to make empty threats or warnings, so there was a very high chance that something terrible was coming our way. Although that wouldn't surprise me, something terrible is always coming our way, but this time the stakes were high. The lives of my entire pack were on the line, and any small overlooked detail would be the end of us.It was still baffling to me how Mother chose to send a warning to Ava about Mr when she was the very one who cursed me with this fate. Now, s
Kole's Point Of View I was standing across from Xanthros, the elemental lycan. He was arguably one of the strongest lycans that kathryna sired. His ability to manipulate the elements of nature was rare, and it was a skill he had learned how to utilize to the fullest, but still, I knew he was no match for me."You all should have maintained the roles we allowed you as Elders, Xanthros," I said, with my voice low.Xanthros sneered, his eyes flashing with elemental energy. "Kole, you and I both know we wouldn't miss this opportunity to take out Kaden. At first, we were content with knowing Kaden wasn't able to find the gifted one, but now he has; we can't just let him break free from his curse."Of course, they wouldn't just sit idly by and let Kaden successfully break his curse; even if it meant they would charge to their deaths, they were willing to take the risk. But I was willing to do whatever it took to keep my brother safe. Yes, I know Kaden has made a lot of terrible mistakes, b
Kaiser's Point Of View I had followed the Elder, Rowan, into the thick dark woods. I knew I had him cornered, and deep down, he was terrified of the things I could do to him.I hear the loud hooting of the birds of the night; the stillness of the night sends a chill creeping up my spine. Suddenly, a dark veil lit up in the night sky, but just above the forest I was in. This was Rowan's desperate trick to keep himself alive but even this couldn't keep him alive or safe from me.“Kaiser Delacourt.” I heard his voice sound from behind me. “You and I meet again.”I roll my eyes, turning back to meet his dark eyes. His blond hair grew longer since the last time I saw him. Back then when Kaden's devil of a twin turned him and the other Elders into lycans. Somehow, they believed we were on the same level, but they were nothing but power-hungry parasites.“Oh Rowan, you picked the wrong time in the world to pick a fight with me. I won't grant you an easy death.” I grinned, my extended claws
Ava's Point Of ViewMy eyes scanned hurriedly across the meadow where I was fighting alongside Kaiser in his huge lycan form and some of our warriors, against the Elders wolves and shadow army.I tried reaching Kaden through our mate bond but I couldn't connect to him. Something was blocking our connection and mind link. The battle was getting heated as more of the Elder's rogue wolves arrived to fight against us. Deep down, I knew if we should win this battle, we would need our magic restored.I couldn't begin to describe the relief that flooded my chest as blue eyes narrowed in on Kole.He joined me and Kaiser where we stood. He was covered in blood and his eyes were glowing bright red as he was sharing partial control with his lycan wolf.We kept on with the fight, and to my surprise, the black veil that had covered the entire pack was lifted, and the night sky came into view. A small smile found my lips, as this meant the witches now had access to their magic and so did Kaiser and
Krystabelle’s Point Of ViewI was forced to step out of the pack's castle and keep watch over the pack with Kaden gone. My conversation with Ava a few hours ago left me completely worried, especially about her dreams, and that worried me more. I knew that had to be an ominous message from mother, she sent it to Ava dreams and she was expecting us to avert whatever chaos was impending.I was even more uneasy with the sudden reappearance of my brother, Kaiser. That bastard was as conniving and treacherous as they got. I didn't just believe his excuse that he came just because he was in the area and he missed home, there had to be something much more that drove him here. I know my older brother so well and I am willing to bet that he was running away, or maybe hiding from something. Whatever it truly was, I knew it couldn't be good.Kole had ordered the pack to be at alert, so everyone was on their toes, and they had the right to be, the Hunter moon was in just four days. Anything could
