Gift from the Season

Livia's POV

“Babe, so, what are you going to do if it doesn't work this time?” One of my colleagues asked sadly as I arranged my desk.

We were rounding up for the day and slowly closing for the year. Since I was posted to this city, I hadn't been comfortable and I had tried my best to apply for relocation but they kept bouncing back. It was almost Christmas and if I didn't leave, it meant I would be spending another year in this city, away from my family and lover.

“Why are you being so negative?” The other nudged her playfully and I smirked.

“I really hope it works though. I have missed my man, long distance relationship and almost a year apart is frustrating.” I sighed heavily and they stared at me.

“One year? Oh babe, your man always visits you during the weekend and public holidays.” Anna, the first one rolled her eyes.

“That's different from being in the same city and with him all the time. Cooking for him and spending time with him after work.” I reminisced on the good old days as my cheeks flushed. The ladies cringed.

“Well, it won't hurt if he relocated to this place or stayed with you for a longer time.” Sarah, the other one suggested.

“He can't. He is a personal assistant for the CEO of his company. It won't be easy.” I ran my hand through my hair. “I don't even want to talk about my wedding plans.” Another sharp sigh escaped from me.

He worked as a top assistant in Lakewood while I worked as a table accountant here in Brimtole City. It hadn't been easy for both of us, especially since we had decided to put our careers first because money ruled the world.

“Oh girl, you really need to go home. I know how you feel right now but thank goodness you aren't throwing tantrums.” Anna said sarcastically and we burst into laughter.

“I see you girls are having a great time.” The voice of our managing director found its way into our conversation as we faced her. She was a mature yet elegant blonde woman.

She approached us with a mild smile on her face while we all stood.

“Good evening, ma'am. We thought you had left.” I spoke first since my friends were looking scared.

“Not when I hadn't finalized your relocation.” My eyes bulked out on hearing her words.

“My… My relocation?” I thought they had already given up on my case.

“Yes, sweetie. Congratulations, you have been assigned to one of our branches in Lakewood. Check your portal for more information.” She informed me professionally and I gasped in disbelief and excitement.

“Really?” This was the best news I had gotten since my time here and I could perceive that my holiday would be great.

“Yes. Congratulations again and good luck with your wedding.” She winked at me and without another word, she left.

My friends were already giggling and cheering in excitement, I faced them and they embraced me tightly.

“I can't believe this, girls!” I was almost in tears.

I had missed Lakewood and also my fiance. I had missed everything and couldn't wait to return home.

“You win, girl. Congratulations. I'm sad that you are leaving us but I'm also happy because you got what you wanted.” Anna said with sarcasm, a smile forming on her face.

“I… I'm so happy.” I gasped again, cleaning my eyes as I picked up my bag.

“You are leaving today?” Sarah asked, looking worried.

“Yes. I know it's already noon but Lakewood isn't far from here.” I rashly explained to them.

“Take a look outside babe, it's snowing heavily. I doubt any car would move at this time.” Anna added after a while.

They tried their best to dissuade me but my mind was at Lakewood already, I wanted to leave.

After packing my stuff and heading to the bus station, the driver warned us about the weather and other challenges. Some people dropped because they were scared but I asked him to proceed because I wanted to leave Brimtole as fast as I could. My man was waiting for me and I wanted to surprise him. My request had finally been approved, I could never be happier.

The ride started and from the backseat, I could see how the driver struggled to find his route. It would be hard for him because it was about a 2 hour drive. The snow was heavy and the road was almost blocked.

I checked the time and it was 2:30 pm. I sighed in distress and almost wanted to ask the driver to speed up when our car suddenly crashed against something. Everything happened so fast and my vision blurred.

“Miss… are you okay?” I heard echoing voices after a while as I struggled to open my eyes.

“Miss… can you hear me? Are you okay?” My vision steadied and I saw the driver, tugging and questioning me warmly.

“What happened?” I managed to ask and he let out a sigh of relief.

“We had a slight accident but all is fine now.” He stood away from me and faced the other passengers who also looked hazy just like me.

“How about we wait until tomorrow? We might reencounter similar accidents.” The driver suggested.

I knew it was crazy and I was being too rash but there was no need to wait. We had crossed the boundary and almost at Lakewood.

“No need. We should leave.” A masculine voice came from the backseat. I smiled because the stranger relayed exactly what I had in mind.

We arrived at Lakewood by midday and I was so giddy to meet with Davon. We shared the same apartment so I also knew the route and everything but when I arrived there, it seemed like they had renovated the estate.

I rolled my box in the hallway as I searched for our room number. A smile formed on my lips as I stopped at the door and unlocked it.

“Babe, I'm ho…” I trailed off by the sight that slapped my face and the key fell from my hand.

“Davon?” Hot tears rushed out of my eyes at the sight of my boyfriend screwing his côck in the pûssy of my best friend, Pamela.

My voice and noise got their attention and they faced me, looking stunned but he seemed not to have reached his ecstasy as he didn't stop fûcking her in my presence.

“What the hell are you doing, Davon?” I yelled at the top of my voice with disappointment lingering in my eyes as I stared at the two people whom I loved and believed all these years.

They flinched away from each other, looking nervous and sweaty.
