Mia’s POV
...Camille?
My mind went blank, staring at Lia in confusion.
After a long while, I found my voice again. "But... but Camille has always been so nice to me. She even said we were friends... Why would she do this to me?!"
Lia gave a bitter smile. "Miss Mia, you're too naive. Lady Camille’s kindness was just a facade to lower your guard. While Alpha Draven was away from the packhouse, she had you thrown out of your room, forbade anyone from giving you water or medicine, and ensured no one informed Alpha Draven. She clearly wants you dead!"
"But she's a lady, and I'm a nobody—"
"You are Alpha Draven's favorite!" Lia said firmly. "I haven't seen him care so much for anyone in a long time. That makes you every Luna candidate’s enemy!"
My chest tightened, finding Lia’s words absurd.
Draven's favorite woman?
He humiliated me publicly, treating me like a whore!
I'm sure I'm just his
Mia’s POV“Draven!” Camille exclaimed.I almost cried with joy—Draven! He came to save me!More footsteps coming close, soldiers and servants appeared in the dense forest.Camille's maid, Laura screamed and rushed to hug Camille, crying, “My lady! What happened to your hand?”Draven threw his bow to the ground and walked quickly over, glaring at Camille. “I saw you attacking Mia. Are you out of your mind?!”Camille cradled her bleeding hand, her evil expression from earlier replaced by one of pity and innocence.“D-Draven, you arrived just in time!” she sobbed. “If it weren’t for you, I might have died...”What?I stared at her performance in shock. What was she talking about? She almost died? I was the one who was nearly killed!“What do you mean?” Draven frowned.“I saw Mia in the woods and wondered what
Mia’s POVThe soldier's voice cut through the tense air like a sharp blade.I was startled, my gaze turning towards him, looking for the person who was willing to testify for me.To my surprise, the person showing up behind the soldiers was Veronica! She snorted disdainfully when she saw me, then cast a look of disgust at Camille.Beside Veronica was Lia, looking solemn but determined.“You—you’re willing to testify?!” I exclaimed.I never expected Veronica to be the one willing to testify for me. She always despised me.“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Veronica rolled her eyes.“Miss Mia, I’m here to help you,” Lia said loudly, her eyes flashing with the fire of resolute. “I just released Miss Mia from the basement! She’s been locked there for nearly 3 days without food or water! The soldiers guarding her have been detained, and they can testif
Mia’s POV"Spy? Are you kidding me?"I was stunned. This was the most ridiculous accusation I'd ever heard! But it was an effective one because if they believed it, not only would Laura go unpunished, but I'd be executed!Camille was both clever and ruthless."Just because I killed a hunting dog, you think I'm a spy? That's absurd!" I cried, my voice shaking. "That dog was about to bite my neck. Was I supposed to stand still and let it?""It's not the killing of Betty that makes us suspicious. It's your secrecy," Camille sneered, her malice plain. "Why didn't you tell us you had no wolf?""Because I really don't...""Then how did you kill Betty? Betty could take down a young bear on her own!"I started sweating. I didn't even know what had happened! Why did my wolf suddenly appear and disappear? I couldn't explain it myself!"Enough!" Veronica suddenly snapped. "You're accusing Mia of being a s
Mia’s POVAfter that incident, there were only three days left until the masquerade ball.I hadn’t forgotten my mission to help Veronica win the nobles' favor at the ball. With time running out, I took Veronica to the fanciest boutique in the Full Moon Pack as soon as I was able to get out of bed.We arrived at the boutique, and the display window was filled with sparkling jewelry and gorgeous evening gowns, almost calling out to us.But as we got closer, the clerk at the door gave us a disdainful look, like we were two obnoxious flies.“Sorry, ladies, this is a members-only store. Do you have a membership?” The clerk’s voice was cold and uninterested. He looked us up and down, clearly confident that people like us wouldn’t have a membership.I felt a bit flustered. I didn’t know this store required a membership. When I asked Lia where to get a dress, she just told me this store was the best c
Mia’s POV“There... there is one more special gown. Perhaps you’ll like it!”The clerk hurried to the back of the store.Moments later, she returned with a mannequin wearing a vintage gown.My eyes lit up, and so did Veronica’s.The gown was a deep, rich purple, adorned with countless pearls and diamonds, like the brightest stars in the night sky. The skirt was embroidered with intricate gold patterns, telling a tale of ancient and mysterious legends. Every stitch and thread exuded an indescribable elegance, like a serene noble waiting for her arrival.“This is our prized possession, once owned by a famous dancer.” The clerk’s voice was soft and warm, as if breathing life into the gown.Veronica’s face flushed with excitement. She didn’t even bother to try it on before shouting, “This is it! I want it!”All the clerks sighed in relief, and I felt a w
Mia’s POVTo my surprise, a middle-aged man in a suit walked into the store. He had an air of elegance and grace.“Mr. Black?”Camille seemed to know him. She seemed shocked. “What are you doing here?”The man named Black gave Camille a polite nod and said, “The owner of this store heard what happened. He sent me here to ensure Miss Mia and her friend have a pleasant shopping experience.”The owner of this store?I blinked in surprise.I thought Camille owned this store. Was I wrong? And why would this mysterious owner stick up for me?“Mia, what’s going on?” Veronica whispered to me, sounding confused. “Do you know this Black guy? And what’s all this about a owner?”“I don’t know him... and I have no idea what’s happening.” I was just as confused.Could this store belong to Draven? But if it did, Li
Mia’s POV“Why are you here?” I blurted out.Seeing the surprise on my face, Osborn grinned. “I told you we'd meet again.”But I never imagined we’d meet under these circumstances!“Wait, are you the owner of this antique shop?” I asked in disbelief. He shrugged, leaning against the windowsill with his arms crossed. “Do you think I am?”I looked him up and down, suspicious. He looked like a nobleman. But every noble I knew was arrogant and cold, looking at me like trash. None of them were as approachable as Osborn. After a pause, I hesitated. “You can’t be, right? Aren’t you just a chauffer? How could you afford to own an antique shop like this?”He suddenly laughed.“You’re right, I am just a chauffer!” He stood up straight, smiling warmly at me. “This shop belongs to my master, House Longford. I help out sometime
Mia’s POVI froze in place, awkwardly looking at him.… I didn’t expect him to see through my identity so quickly.Seeing me remain silent, Osborn’s expression grew even darker, and he sneered, “I heard Alpha Draven brought a mistress back from outside. So, it’s you?”“That’s right.” I took a deep breath, feeling very humiliated. “I know you look down on mistresses. So there’s no need for us to keep talking.”With that, I turned to leave, but he grabbed me again.“What’s so great about Alpha Draven?” he scoffed. “Don’t you know he’s had 8 dead wives? And yet you still dare stay by his side?”“Those were his wives. I’m not his wife. What’s there to fear?”He stiffened. “You have a point. But since you’re Alpha Draven’s mistress, why are you helping that woman named Ver
Camille’s POVAfter I said that, I bit my lip nervously and waited.A moment of silence later, Aunt finally spoke, her voice carrying a tone of cold reproach:“This is your second failure, Camille. Last time, when you said you’d have that whore’s daughter die of a high fever, I thought you’d succeed. But instead, she became even more intimate with Alpha Draven. And now, you’ve failed again. Should I trust you a third time, Camille?”My body trembled with shame and anxiety.I gripped the phone tightly and blurted out, “Of course! Please trust me one more time! This time, I’ll definitely succeed in killing Mia!”Aunt snorted softly, “What’s your plan?”I had already thought of a thorough plan before making the call, just needing someone to help me execute it.“That girl is a slut, she loves fooling around with men outside, and Draven has already s
Mia’s POVTears blurred my vision as I looked at him, waiting for his reaction.Part of me hoped he would rush over and hold me tight, telling me he loved me too.But the miracle didn’t happen. After a moment, his voice came again, cold as ice: “Don’t ever let me hear those words again.”My heart shattered.More tears streamed down my face as I cried in despair, not daring to make too much noise.“Stop it!” he said harshly. “This is what you signed up for! I made it very clear before bringing you here, you can't fall in love with me, we only have a physical relationship, it's better for both of us!”I looked at him through my tears, saying nothing. He let out a breath, looking even more agitated, and said coldly, “Think about it. If you really want to ignore the terms, there seems to be only one way to solve this problem—”“No!” I
Mia’s POVMy mind went blank.Shit. How did I forget about Camille? She would never miss a chance to drive a wedge between me and Draven! The thing I tried so hard to hide was laid bare so bluntly.I'm done for.I felt cold all over, struggling to lift my head and look at Draven. He was staring at me too, his deep eyes brewing a storm.“A man?” He said in a low, dangerous voice, still looking at me. “What’s his name?”“Lady Camille didn’t say. She said if you want to know more, she’d be happy to come in and describe the situation in person—”BANG!Draven grabbed a glass and smashed it on the floor, the sound of shattering glass making me shiver.“Tell her to fuck off!” he roared. The guard didn’t need to be told twice, he immediately turned and left the room. All the servants filed out, leaving the two of us
