We laid together in silence for a while. My hand traced shapes on her back as she was cuddled against my side. Every so often, I planted a kiss on her forehead. Sighing, I closed my eyes.
“Chris came down with Claude and Harrison.”
Her body stiffened. “You mean…”
I nodded. “Claude came down and I don’t think he meant to have his father and beta tag along but they didn’t trust him with me alone, that much was apparent.”
“You’re telling me this now? Why didn’t you start off with this news?”
I chuckled. “I wasn’t thinking about it. A lot has been going on. If anything, I needed you more.”
She smiled and placed her head back down on my chest. “What did he say?”
“He actually told me that their plan may involve Yggdrasil. I don’t know if it was to gage my reaction or if he was trying to get information from me. I gave him some correct and incorrect information. Basically telling him and Claude that there wasn’t anything we can do abo
Adding a third chapter since everyone has been so patient!! Thank you all for sticking around!
It had been ten days since I saw Olivia. We hadn’t gone this long since the first time she left. My anxiety was at an all time high and even Aamon pacing in the back of my mind was getting to me. Scott and Eli stayed as far away from me as possible unless we had to meet up. I would snap at them without meaning to and while I would apologize after it made them more on edge as well. Iggy came over to try and help but nothing he did worked. We would end up arguing over something stupid and I finally told him in an Alpha command not to come into the pack house again. That was five days ago.Today was the potluck and I was not in the mood to put on a show for people. I wanted to go back to the original plan and just shake down every since person. Playing nice was not in my repertoire right now. Pacing in my office was the only thing holding me together at this point. I know Aamon and I swapped places multiples the past few days but there was literally nothing for him to do.
“Eli, don’t.”He growled. “We have to see if they work.”Scott moved from behind the podium closer to us but it was too late. Eli reached out and touched Helena’s bare arm.“How are you doing?”“I would be better if you weren’t touching me.”Both Scott and I winced. Janet was shocked but she started to put two and two together since I had asked her if she was powerful enough to remove a mate bond.“Helena, I want things between us to work out. I want you to be my mate and for us to be together. We’ve been through too much over the years to just throw it away. Please, will you give me a chance?”Her face screwed up in disgust and I reached out to grab Eli but Helena answered first.“We were never going to work out. A Gamma. A rogue. You think you could ever satisfy me? I don’t think you understand how humiliating it is for me to be yo
***Olivia’s POV*** The line went dead as the barrier rose back up over the city. I stared at the phone, my heart sinking further. It was good to hear his voice even though you could hear the agitation and desperation. The emotions through the bond seemed to settle down though the moment we spoke. Bucho put his hand on my shoulder. “He is just upset, sweetheart. Don’t take it to heart.” “I know. Either way, I have something I need to do. Something I need to finish. I don’t know why his mate is after me but I will kill her. I will kill all of them.” My voice didn’t waver as I set the phone down on the table. “We should almost be ready. Once the Spring Celebration passes we will face them head on.” I nodded at him, my heart still not recovered from Desmond’s anger. Bucho guided me out of the room and into the chaos that was the main pack tent. Everyone was setting up decorations or busy with something in regards to the celebration.
My eyes fluttered open as another intense wave of pain rippled through me. Where was the barrier? I looked around frantically. I had to get out. I couldn’t stay. Screaming out, as another wave of pain came. It was too much. I was going to lose consciousness again.“What the hell?” Desmond pulled me into his arms and I felt the pain ease. It was no longer a pain I couldn’t bare.I cried. “It hurts. Fucking hell it hurts.”“What’s going on? How can I help? What’s happening?”I shook my head. “I lost consciousness close to the barrier edge. The pain was too much. But it followed me here. Desmond…it hurts…” I looked up at him, tears in my eyes.He was so worried. His forehead touched mind, giving me slight relief. I sighed and turned into him, his body giving me a relief I hadn’t felt for days. My eyes narrowed fo
Inhaling, I smelled the sweet scent of strawberries and I opened my eyes. Stacy was lighting some candles next to my bed.“What…” I stopped, my voice coming out as more of a croak. She jumped and looked over at me, wide eyed. “You’re awake! Oh thank the goddess.”“What happened?” My voice still sounding foreign.“You disappeared and we searched for you. Took us a day but one of the patrols found you passed out, marks covering your body, bruised. We were so worried. You were so close to the barrier, we knew you had tried to make a run for it.”“I thought I could make it but it got too bad. I didn’t think I could go through another day.” I smiled sadly. She nodded, reaching and touching my forehead. “You we’re running a fever for a bit. Let me get you some water and some bread.”Quickly, she l
I was woken up feeling Desmond pull the mate bond. I smiled and tried to reach out through the bond. I felt his worry, his desperation and his anger. It felt like Bucho had told him what happened. My eyes fluttered open and I took survey of my surroundings.I was hanging from the wall. My wrists and ankles were chained up but I was handing from my arms. My toes barely touched the ground. It must have been a while since I was hanging because my shoulders had already both popped out of their sockets. I was in a cell. It was the usual stone built walls and floor with metal bars. The cliche look of this dungeon made me chuckle. My eyes looked at the one door that was to the right of me. It was the only way in and out from the looks of it. This place didn’t even have windows. No one came for a while. I wondered how long I had been here. My stomach growled and I sighed. I would drift in and out of sleep, exhaustion taking over from lack of food and water. My eyes opene
Bucho carried me out of the hospital and I shied away from the sunlight. It really had been weeks since I had been outside during the day. Bucho strode through the village but his face showed how unhappy he was. I still let myself relax in his arms. We headed to the far side of the village. There was a specific tent that had been built for keeping prisoners but I hadn’t actually been inside of it. My heart sunk when I realized that it was where we were headed. That Nasir had been locked up for over a week.We got to the tent when one of the warriors who was guarding the front bared his neck and moved the flap for us. Ducking into the entrance, I looked at the rows of cages that were built inside this tent. My eyes looked over the cells before the far cell showed the thick brown-reddish fur of a wolf curled up in the corner. Tears came to my eyes and I wiggled out of Bucho’s grasp. My legs barely held me up but I made it to the cell door before I collapsed o
Surprised, I stopped and looked at her. She was smiling sheepishly. “There is a pond just outside of the territory. It’s private and sometimes I go skinny dipping there. A lot of times though, there are fairies hanging around there.”“Where?”She took my hands and started walking to the southeastern corner of the territory. We walked for about twenty minutes when I watched the shimmer of the barrier. It engulfed us and we came out on the other side. The pond that Stacy spoke was right in front of us. Sure enough, fairies skittered across the top of the water. We stepped forward and they froze.“Mongrel! Little mongrel!” Four the fairies rushed me, burying themselves in my hair.“Hello you guys. What are you doing this north?”“Got lost.”“Having fun.”“Avoiding.”I looked at the blue fairies who was blushing. “Something going on with
