Two weeks later
"Sabin's taking me to the mating ritual of the alpha's son of the new moon pack. I'm to wear something that you've put your scent on." Eve placed a dress on my bed.
I nodded and started undressing to slip it on for a while.
"I still haven't been able to overhear anything, but something is going on because the druid just left."
I paused then started putting the dress on. "Tell Brand I want to see him."
Eve gasped, "Absolutely not! I know what your thinking, and that asshole is stupid but not that stupid."
"Men are foolish when it comes to certain things." I sighed.
"You have lost your ever-loving mind! You are not going to seduce that asshole to get information."
"I'll do whatever I have to do."
"No, I'll try harder. I'll learn something. You are not doing something you'll only hate yourself for."
"I don't know the time frame on Sabin's plans, Eve. I can't just wait around. Brand's not so bad; at least he isn't hard to look at."
"I know you, Ava, you can't do it. You'll hate yourself."
"Not as much as I'll hate myself when something happens to Declan."
"Forget it! We'll find another way!" Eve hopped on my bed and got quiet for long moments.
"What are you thinking?"
"I don't know yet, but leave it to me."
I didn't leave it to my sister as she requested. As soon as she took the dress back and left my room, I slipped out also. No one was in the hall, so I listened intently when I was sure it was clear I went to Sabin's study and pressed my ear against the door. I didn't hear any movement, so I jiggled the handle. Of course, it was locked. Nothing would be that easy, so I pulled a bobby pin out of my hair and tried to feel the lock mechanism. After a while, I finally got it open and slipped inside, and locked the door behind me. I took a look around at all the books. "crap that's a lot of books," I whispered to myself as I walked to the desk.
There wasn't a book laying on top of it, so I started pulling out drawers. "Not a damn thing, shit." I glanced at the laptop and opened it, security footage was running on the screen, and I glanced to the corner of the room and saw the camera.
The door came open, and Sabin walked in grinning at me, "Looking for something, Ava?.... I have something in the basement I just now you'll love.
Sabin's minions came into the room, took me to the basement, and chained me to the wall in my underwear. Sabin brought my sister in a few minutes later and cuffed her to the chair.
Sabin used a cane this time, and I heard bones crunch and my sister screaming a few times before I passed out.
Eve
I've done it Ava's way for two years now. I'm done! I looked at the security camera in the room and looked directly into it.
After she finally blessedly passed out, Sabin let me go, and I walked to my sister's room, where they had dumped her on her bed. She was a mess of blood and broken bones, and she had not started healing.
I put the bones back into place the best I could while she was still out and wrapped them. I lay my hand on her bruised and swollen face where Sabin had punched her. "I'm sorry, sis, but I can't do it your way anymore. Hopefully, it will work out, and you'll forgive me." I kissed her cheek softly and left the room.
I walked to the security room and asked the men to please look at my sister's injuries and make sure I set the bones right. They all left but one, so I started crying and carrying on. Finally, he came to me, and I begged him to ensure they didn't hurt her. He consoled me and assured me he would, and walked toward my sister's room. I went inside the security room and stuck a disc drive in the computer. What I was looking for was right there; the men had just finished saving it to file, so I sent a copy to the disc. Sabin was sick. The files were saved for Sabin's viewing pleasure. I walked to the door and stood, keeping watch until the file was d******ded. It took a while. It was a large file. When I heard their footsteps, I sat in a chair, exited the d******d window, and pulled the disc slipping it in my pocket. Then I started crying again before they walked back in. They assured me they saw to her breaks and she would heal fine.
I left and went to wash my face and get ready for the mating ceremony. After makeup and getting dressed, I grabbed a scarf, a piece of paper, and a pen and set my plan in motion.
Before Sabin came to get me I went to check on Ava again. She was still out so I brushed her hair with my hand softly and leaned down to her ear. I love you too Ava and it's time for you to let someone take care of you instead of you always taking care of us. I'll be back soon. Then I leaned down and kissed her head softly. I smiled that Sabin was soon going to learn a lesson, then I adjusted my scarf and left the room. It was time to blow the roof.
Declan I pushed play and leaned forward at my desk to study the footage of Ava in my club again. I had been obsessed and probably watched it a million times in the past month and a half because something was off. That's not the same Ava that I saw out and about with Sabin. The Ava I remember didn't have a poker face, and I always knew what she was thinking. That's what I saw in my club, but that's not what I saw when she was out with my brother. I've been thinking back to when she left me, and something wasn't right about that either, but I was too shocked, heartbroken, and angry to pay attention. I noticed the Ava with Sabin has a walk to get from point A to point B, but the Ava I remember from two years ago and the Ava that walked into my club that night walked like a sensual she-wolf. She was graceful, confident, and alluring. I had always loved her walk. Even the way she moved a stray hair from her face was sexy. I
Trent brought up the file, and it was full of video clips. They each just had the date it was filmed but no caption. I reached over him and scrolled the dates. The first video was taken the day before Ava called off our mating ceremony, then they were just random dates until I saw one was made the night she came to the club, and then several took place that month, and then one was dated today. I chose the one when she went to the club and pressed play. The video started with a basement with chains in a brick wall. Eve or Ava one was sitting chained to a chair in the corner. Then there was a commotion, and some of Sabin's packmates drug Ava in. I knew that was Ava; somehow, I just knew, so it was Eve in the chair. They chained Ava facing the wall, and Eve started crying. This was not going to be good."Shit Declan! I think we better pause this..." Lasiter trailed off because Sabin entered the room and started baiting and playing with Ava. Her face was already red
Declan I watched the videos, and that was the worst experience of my life, so I couldn't even imagine how it was for Ava and her sister. I was worried. Ava wasn't healing as a werewolf should, and the last beating she took almost made me come out of my skin. I had vomited several times, watching her go through what she went through. I knew she was still out there, somewhere in pain with injuries. It made me insane that I couldn't just run over there and bust the door down to get to her. "Trent, call Lass and have him station some vampires to watch the pack just in case Sabin gets wind of this and decides to move the girls." "Lasiter called me, and he's already taken care of that." It was good to have good friends. But, that vampire would walk through hell for me, and I would do the same for him. "Goodman! Call the meeting for an hour from now. I need a shower and to get myself and the clues I picked up together." Trent pulled o
DeclanMy brother will die for this, but the girls' safety comes first. I want them out of there. I want Ava home so that I can get her some help. Something is wrong. I could see in the videos that she isn't healing as she should and that the last beating she took was horrendous.Camilla sighed, "Her light went out.""What?""She's not healing because her light went out. Something happened that made her reach her breaking point and her light went out."I could remember Sabin goading her in the video about finding out that I had a woman and how that had finally broken her."No," I whispered anguishedly.Trent spoke up, "This is not helping us get the girls home.""No, it's not, and if we get them home, we can work on Ava's light." Camilla put in."You'll fix her!" I shouted."You'll fix her, Declan! I'll do what I can, but it'll be you that has to get in there."Lasiter took a phone call and step
I don’t know what I was thinking. Strutting my ass right up in his territory, his club, after what I did. Who does that? Who would do something so stupid? Apparently, that would be me, moron numero uno, but it’s too late now; his man, Trent, has already spotted me. Ho boy, and if looks could kill that fine ass man would have been the last thing I saw. I can’t blame him. I give myself the same look regularly. The mirror has not been my friend ever since that day. Still, I stood in front of it for an awfully long time tonight, what with the hundred outfits I tried on and making sure every lash was separated and elongated, every lock of curl in place, don’t even get me started on the shoes. The only thing I didn’t agonize over was my perfume. I’ve worn the same one for years now. My days of perfume whore have long been gone, and that is because of him, my mate whom I walked away from, Declan. He once told me how much he loved this one, and tha
I had not been so close to him in so long. Hell, I had not been in his space period in so long, and I had forgotten. I thought I remembered everything like it was yesterday, but I was wrong. So very wrong.I had forgotten how he seemed to be a live electrical wire and how I wanted to feel all of that under my hands, on my body, and underneath my very skin, how he smelled, how his voice sounded. It had all dulled in my memory from even how wonderful I remembered it to be. This was a mistake. I should have never have come here. I should have made a thousand phone calls until I got someone to listen, I should have hired someone to take a message, I should have mailed a letter. I should never have come here."Ava, what are you doing?"I could tell he was studying me, but I kept my face forward. I couldn't look at him. It hurt too much."I was passing along some information I overheard. Can you ask your secretary to put my calls through until this
"You are one stupid bitch if you think you can make a move without me knowing about it," Sabin whispered with his nose pressed to my cheek.I was chained to the wall of the basement in my nightgown. I had gone home to my little apartment and cried myself to sleep. Sabin had been letting me live there for the last three months as long as I laid low and wasn't seen by anyone, but I had been spotted by one of his minions when I went to Declan, so I was drug out of bed by my hair and brought here not long after falling asleep. It was a chance I had taken, and I had been caught. I can usually sense when someone is watching me, but I had been so upset and in my head.My sister sat in a chair, whimpering and crying in the corner. That was Sabin's thing; not only would I be beaten or whipped, but my sister would have to watch. This is how he could keep us both under his thumb. At least I didn't have to worry that he would beat Eve. Sabin wouldn't beat his mate as long as
