Chapter 27

April was lying on a makeshift bed in a quiet corner of the mansion, her body aching from the morning's work, she left th lawn because she needed a place to keep her head. She had just closed her eyes to rest when she heard footsteps approaching. She looked up, expecting to see Lydia ready to scold her for not finishing her tasks.

To her surprise, Lydia's expression was soft and concerned. "April," Lydia began, kneeling beside her. "You need to rest for the remainder of the day. The Alpha has ordered it."

April blinked, not quite believing her ears. "He did?"

Lydia nodded. "Yes. He saw how exhausted you were and insisted that you take a break."

April's eyes filled with tears, a mix of relief and confusion. "Thank you, Lydia."

Lydia patted her shoulder gently. "Just rest, April. I'll handle the rest of your chores for today."

As Lydia walked away, April felt a strange warmth spread through her chest. Despite everything, Lucifer had shown her a small kindness.
