Chapter 69

RUBY.

Right after training the following day, I walked back to the pack house to find Clinton in his office. He was going through some papers when I walked in.

Once I shut the door behind me, I sauntered towards him and sat down on the empty seat available.

His office was nice and well-decorated, but that wasn't what I was after this morning. I wanted to find out where the hell he was all through the previous day, why he didn't call me to tell me where he was, or why he didn't return my calls after he missed them.

“Dear,” he looked up from the papers he was going through as his gaze landed on me.

I crossed my arms, a frown on my face. “Where did you go yesterday?”

“I had a meeting with the council of elders.” He dropped his hands on the desk, and I could see the tightness in his chin, which told me that whatever they discussed with him was something bad.
