Lyord POV

Lunar Gala Party

Southern Mountain's Lunar gala party was very lavish and grand. Almost the entire shifter pack gathered at the Lunar Gala. I only brought Beta Yasen with me without Rachel because she was unwell today.

Many of the invited packs brought along their mates and family members. Especially the alphas and Beta brought their daughters.

Was this a political meeting or pack matchmaking, seeing so many young girls compared to boys? More Alphas or Betas introduced their daughters than discussed King John's threat.

The Alphas introduced their daughters to me because I didn't have Luna anymore after divorcing Nia. I still had a mate, but the Alphas were stubbornly trying to match their daughters to me, which made me sick. "Alpha Lyord," King Andre approached with a big smile on his old face as he extended his hand to me. 

"It's good to see you here. thank you for accepting my invitation." 

I accepted his hand with a polite smile, "Greetings King. It is my honor to receive your invitation."

"No need to be polite. We will be allies."

King Andrew offered to make us part of his kingdom as we talked. The Northwind Pack was the largest pack for over a century, and we controlled many mines with immense wealth. Our pack was friendly with the alphas of other packs but not subservient to any kings.

However, with the threat of the Eastwood kingdom, I had to accept becoming an ally with King Andrew to fight the Eastwood threat.

"It's a pleasure talking to you, Alpha Lyord. Let's talk later to discuss the threat from Eastwood."

I nodded politely as I watched King Andrew approach the other Alphas. I walked over to greet one of the alphas I recognized when my foot suddenly bumped into something below.

I glanced down to see a three-year-old boy collapse on the floor and look up at me with his innocent blue eyes. He wasn't crying but was looking at me curiously.

I knelt down in front of him and helped him up. "Hello, boy, are you okay? You're not hurt?"

He shook his head and didn't take his eyes off me.

"Uncle, you are so tall."

"You'll grow tall too when you're my age," I said kindly.

There was something about the boy that intrigued me. His blue eyes looked familiar. I ran my fingers through his jet-black hair and felt the flow of magic from him and the faint scent of a wolf.

A hybrid?

I looked at him very curiously. The witch group had teamed up with the Eastwood kingdom and made an evil reputation. Who are this child's parents?

No witch packs were invited to this party. I was worried that this child was in the wrong place.

"Where are your parents? You can't wander around ...."

"Lorcan ...."

A voice interrupted and seemed to call out to the boy because he immediately turned his head.

"Papa Damon!" The boy ran towards him and hugged the man.

I squinted my eyes, feeling an unpleasant feeling when I saw a child calling 'Papa' to a large male figure with blonde hair and dark skin. 

Alpha Damon of Black Moon, my mind recognized the man. An Alpha with no territory and a mercenary wolf pack. Why would the King invite them?

"Alpha Lyord," greeted Alpha Damon, who was looking at me. His gaze was calculating and strange-looking.

I stood up with an expressionless face and nodded. "Sorry, I bumped into that kid."

"Ah, I see." He extended his hand to me, "I'm Damon Smith, of the Black Moon Pack. Nice to meet you, Alpha Lyord."

"Ah, nice to meet you too." I replied politely.

"I heard the reputation of you and the Northwind Pack. What brings the Northwind Pack from distant regions here?"

"In response to the increasingly rampant threat of Eastwood."

"Ah, right, we are all here invited to respond to that threat."

I glanced at the child in her arms, "Your son?"

"Yes." Alpha Damon responded calmly, hugging the child tightly.

But they don't look alike. An unpleasant feeling in my chest makes me frown.

"Sorry, we have to go," Alpha Damon said politely, smiling. His son waved at me sweetly.

"Bye-bye Uncle."

I held my hand back from waving to him and watched them leave without taking my eyes off the boy. I didn't see Alpha Damon's mate approach them, and the man led his son away from the party hall.

"That kid doesn't look much like Alpha Damon." Beta Yasen commented next to me.

"You think so too?"

"Yes, he looks more like you, Alpha. if you have a son, your son might look like that kid."

I immediately looked at him with sharply narrowed eyes. "Don't say nonsense, Yasen."

"Sorry, Alpha." Yasen immediately apologized and closed his mouth.

I was in a bad mood because of Yasen's comment. I can't have children because Rachel is barren after being poisoned four years ago.

The council of elders won't let me marry Rachel to make her my Luna because the commission needs an Alpha heir. 

I seemed to be cursed. My ex-Luna ran off with her alleged Lycan affair after making Rachel barren and killing my unborn child.

I tried not to remember my ex-Luna, who disappeared like the earth, so as not to stir up old grudges.

I finished my glass of champagne and said to Yasen, "Let's go, we've attended enough parties."

After the night of the party, I thought of the boy with the familiar blue eyes every time I looked in the mirror in my room. And I met the boy again in Oakhaven, the human town, on my way to attend a social event with King Andrew. As Yasen said, I looked a lot like that boy, like staring at a shadow of my childhood.

"Child, are you lost?" I knelt in front of him, speaking to him softly.

"No, I followed you, Uncle," the boy said, blinking. His blue eyes were exactly the same as mine.

One of my eyebrows was raised high. "Why are you following me?"

"Because your face is in my mommy's picture."

"Photo?" I couldn't understand more. "Why does your mom have a picture of me?"

His mother was supposed to be Damon's Alpha mate. Why did she have a picture of me? 

I suddenly felt interested in knowing who this child's mother was when she gave birth to a child that looked like me.

"Mom ...."

There was a shrill cry behind me before the boy could finish his sentence. "Lorcan!"

That voice... sounded so familiar. Then, A woman rushed to grab the boy and pulled him into her arms.

"Sweetie, Mommy told you not to wander off. Why don't you listen to Mommy! You're making Mommy very worried." The woman was busy scolding her son and ignoring us.

"Mommy, that uncle looks like the one in mommy's picture." The boy pointed at me, which made the woman realize our presence and turned to look at us.

Beta Yasen and my co-members hissed in surprise, and so did I.

"Nia ...." I hissed the name of my missing ex-Luna.

The woman froze. Her eyes flashed fear as our gazes met.

"Sorry, you have the wrong person." She said hastily and hurried away.

Without thinking, my body moved to block her and grabbed her arm. 

"Nia Schafer, why are you here? And ...." I glanced between Nia and the boy in her arms with great surprise. "He's your son?"
