Chapter 006 

Lyord's POV

The sound of a wolf howl broke the silence of the night in Pack Northwind, startling the soldiers. I had just come out of the pack elder council meeting room when I heard the howl, and an omega warrior rushed over to me.

"Alpha, there's a Lycan infiltrating our territory. He took the ex-Luna away."

My eyes narrowed sharply, anger welling up in my chest at the news. " How could a Lycan infiltrate our territory? Are your senses so dulled that you can't sense a Lycan's presence!"

I rushed out to chase after the Lycan that took my former Luna away. Nia Schafer was not allowed to leave the Packhouse. We had just reached an agreement to use Nia as a bargaining chip with the new Lycan King Eastwood in order to free some of our captured pack members.

Although Nia was once my wife and Luna, she wasn't as crucial as the pack members I'd grown up with for decades. The Lycan King, John, wanted Nia back in Eastwood alive. I was sure she wouldn't be harmed if I handed her back to the Eastwood Kingdom. However, this plan was ruined because a Lycan had taken away Nia.

"Where are Seth and Beta Yasen?" I asked sharply at the soldiers following me.

A howl sounded in the distance, making my wolf, Marten, growl angrily. He wanted to go after the Lycan intruder who had taken my ex-Luna away.

"Beta Yasen and Seth have gone after the intruder, Alpha," the soldier replied.

Anger was still building in my chest. A Lycan had managed to infiltrate the Packhouse, kidnapping my ex-Luna under the nose of the pack as if mocking Pack Northwind's abilities. I had just become Alpha, but this faux pas happened. The elders will indeed criticize my leadership if I don't address this soon. I had to get Nia back, or the deal with Lycan King John to free our pack wouldn't go through.

A servant ran up to me, calling out in a loud voice that stopped me in my tracks. "Alpha, something happened to Miss Rachel!"

My expression turned worried. Rachel was my true mate whom I loved. I didn't want anything bad to happen to her.

"What happened to her?" I asked anxiously.

"Miss Rachel..." The servant stammered.

"Just tell me!" I snapped impatiently.

"Miss Rachel miscarried."

I froze. Miscarriage? We just got the news of her pregnancy yesterday. How could Rachel miscarry?!

"Alpha, Miss Rachel is very sad and wants you to come see her immediately."

I was silent for a moment, breathing heavily before replying, "I will see her immediately."

"Alpha..." the warrior next to me called out hesitantly.

"Investigate who the Lycan is that infiltrated the Packhouse! Capture him and bring back Luna's ex!"

"Yes, Alpha." The warrior hurried away to carry out my orders.

I was then rushed to the pack hospital. I put the matter of Nia escaping with the Lycan on hold for a moment. Rachel's miscarriage was an urgent matter, and my heart ached to hear her lose our baby.

"Lyord!" Rachel hugged me tightly, crying bitterly. "I'm sorry. We lost our baby. It's my fault for not being careful."

I rubbed her back, trying to calm her down even though my heart was breaking too. I had been waiting for this baby since I was with Rachel. My marriage to Nia, as well as Alpha Lucas, had gotten in the way of my relationship with Rachel. Just when I thought I could finally be with Rachel after divorcing Nia, we lost our baby.

"It's okay, we'll have another baby..." I tried to comfort her.

But Rachel cried even more sadly. 

"But Doctor Philip says I can't get pregnant again. The poison from Nia has spread to my womb, Lyord. It killed our baby and made it impossible for me to get pregnant again. We will never have children."

Rachel's heartbreaking cry broke my heart.

Anger burned in my chest. The poison! Nia had poisoned the woman I loved and killed our baby!

"Lyord, you must be with Nia. She can give you a baby and an heir. I'm just a barren woman..." Rachel said sadly, crying into my chest.

She doesn't know I've divorced Nia. All I wanted now was to drag her back and make Nia pay for what she did to Rachel.

I hugged her tightly. "That's impossible. I've already divorced her. She hurt you and killed our baby. As soon as she's recaptured, I'll make her kneel down to beg your forgiveness, then pay her for poisoning you. She'll never get pregnant for the rest of her life!"

Rachel's crying subsided, and she sobbed softly.

After calming Rachel down, I took Rachel to my room and to my office to wait for Beta Yasen and Seth to return with my ex-Luna.

Yasen and Seth were back, but they didn't bring Nia with them.

"Sorry Alpha, that Lycan has managed to take my ex-Luna away and is hiding. we can't find them."

"The Lycan that took Nia away is male. Nia Schafer must have had an affair with him and asked him to help her escape," Seth said spitefully.

I smashed the things on my desk. "Damn it!"

she had hurt Rachel and killed our baby. Our deal with the Eastwood Kingdom failed, and I couldn't save my captive comrades!

Nia Schafer, how dare you cheat and run away!

"Yasen, spread the order throughout the Shifter herd to hunt down Nia Schafer! I want her captured dead or alive."

"Yes Alpha."

But years later, the figure of Nia Schafer and my ex-Luna seemed to be swallowed up by the earth. News of my ex-Luna was never heard in either the supernatural world or the human world.

"Alpha." Beta Yasen handed me an invitation card on my desk. 

"What's this?" I glanced at it with one eyebrow raised and stopped my work for a moment.

"A letter of invitation from King Andrew of Southern Mountain. He's inviting our pack to the Lunar Gala and a political meeting with the entire Wolves pack."

"King Andrew of Southern Mountain? We've never been affiliated with them. Why would he invite us?" My brows furrowed as I read the invitation's contents.

King Andrew expressed concern over King John of the Eastwood kingdom, who was blindly attacking the entire shifter pack to submit to the Eastwood kingdom. King John had teamed up with the Wizard Tower and created a very powerful army, making them the most powerful kingdom. He colonized many herds. 

King John's domination and brutality had shaken the supernatural world and would threaten the Southern Mountain kingdom in the Southern Region, so King Andrew cordially invited the various packs to join him as allies against the brutality of King John of Eastwood.

"Since King Andrew has invited, we will naturally accept. King John has been giving us headaches these past four years." The corners of my lips twitched with the coldest gaze.

Four years ago, because Nia Schafer escaped, I couldn't save my comrade members who were held captive by King John. 

King John still demanded Nia be returned to them and repeatedly attacked the Northwind Pack. Fortunately, the Northwind Pack is not a weak pack; we have many tough warriors and can fight them.

But the Eastwood Kingdom is getting stronger as time goes by. There were rumors of King John experimenting on creating extremely tough Lycan and witch genes, which make them very powerful and feared.

The Northwind Pack wouldn't be able to withstand Eastwood's attacks much longer, and we would lose more warriors. We needed allies, and King Andrew had offered his cooperation.

I stood up from my work chair and said to Yasen. 

"Yasen, order the pack members to get ready. We will be heading to Southern Mountain."
