Chapter Three

Arianna's POV

“Guards!”

In less than ten seconds, more than ten guards came into the room.

“Seize her!” Lucas yelled, pointing at me. My eyes widened as I stuttered,

“Alp… Alpha Lu—”

“You killed my brother! And she is sleeping with my brother, she is cheating on me!”

Tears began to roll down my cheeks as I tried to explain that I had not done any of what he was saying. I can't kill a person, I didn't even look twice at Alpha Brian.

I don't know how he got into my room. Yes, I drank a lot last night, but I wouldn't kill anyone. I would never do that.

“I didn't… I didn't, you have to believe me!” I cried as I saw the guards coming to me. They dragged me from the bed like I was an animal. Falling on the floor, they didn't care but continued to drag me.

“I didn't do anything. I didn't, I woke up and saw him on my bed” I tried to explain, but Alpha Lucas shunned me by screaming,

“She killed my brother!” I saw him rush to Alpha Brian as he cried,

“Brian, get up. Get up, brother. Get up!” He kept hitting his chest.

“No, I swear, I swear I didn't” I cried, but they didn't listen to me. Like a criminal, I was dragged out of the room, I could see the clear smirk on my sister's lips. She looked like a devil. Does she have a hand in this? I wondered.

No matter how I screamed, I was dragged and locked up in the dungeon.

“Let me out!” I screamed, “I swear, I didn't do anything! Please!” I kept banging the cell, but no one listened. Instead, they locked me up there, leaving me in the dark.

My heart squeezed in my chest, I fell to my knees as I cried loudly, I wept. I didn't mean for my eighteen years birthday to be like this. If I had known, I wouldn't have come for the mating ceremony. Nicole had asked me to stay behind, but I refused as I didn't know why.

Now I wished I had stayed and enjoyed the silence of the night instead of going to the mating ground. Although it was fun for others, it had come to be a disaster for me.

My body trembled as the cold breeze continued to pass through the metal window created with big hard rods. It was a jail indeed.

No matter how I tried to stop crying, I just couldn't stop. What happened when I went to sleep? How did Alpha Brian end up on my bed? Who killed him? Did he kill himself? Did someone try to kill him, and he escaped by hiding in my room?

So many thoughts filled my head, that I couldn't sleep. I sat on the ground in the dungeon as I kept wondering what the hell I had to do to get out of this place. Just then, the cell opened, and two guards came in and dragged me forcefully out of the dungeon.

“Where are you taking me?” I kept asking as they kept pulling me with them. I knew they wouldn't respond, but I kept asking. I was struggling with them when one of them landed me a resounding slap that caused my ears to vibrate.

For some minutes, I couldn't hear anything audibly. Tears only continued to roll down my cheeks. It happened to be my new food tonight, crying.

It was bright outside now. The guards pulled me into the throne room and threw me like a rag in front of the throne. I whined in pain before I gradually raised my head up as I was on my knees. I was kneeling before Alpha Lucas.

He had a stern look on his face with his chin raised up like I was dirt to him. His mate, dirt. I couldn't see the exact same man I had seen few hours ago when he accepted me as his mate and Luna. For goddess sake, where did that man go?

He wasn't the only one there. The elders, the guards, my elder sister, Nicole, and his beta, I wasn't opportune to know his name. They all sat there staring at me.

“This is the lady who killed my brother, Alpha Brian"

“I didn't, I swe—-”

*PAK!*

A slap landed on my cheek by one of the guards beside me. The same one who had slapped me earlier,

“When the Alpha is talking, keep shut!” He yelled, and I sucked in my breath as tears continued to roll down my eyes.

“She is my mate, Arianna. We found out during the mating ceremony that she was my mate. But how can I accept someone so despicable? She didn't only kill Alpha Brian, she was cheating on me with him!”

I wanted to speak, but I couldn't. I dare not.

“Therefore, right this minute, I, Alpha Lucas Romas reject you Adrianna Rain as my mate and Luna. You are a murderer, and no murderer can take the place of the Luna in this pack!”

The elders nodded along with my sister. She was staring at Alpha Lucas as the man spoke up again.

“And you will be judged according to the law of the pack. You, Adrianna, will be sentenced to….”

My heart was beating so fast and loud that I could feel them in my palms. I stared at the ground as I waited for my punishment.

“Sentence to death by beheading!”

A gasp escaped my lips as I covered my mouth with my hands.

“No! No! Alpha Lucas, No. You know I didn't do it. You know I didn't kill anyone!” I cried loudly.

He ignored my cry and plea as he instructed,

“You will be beheaded this evening at the pack square. Say your last prayers before then” he replied before waving for the guards to come take me away.

“Please! Please!” I screamed

The elders didn't care, my eyes met Nicole as I cried and begged,

“Sister, please. Don't let them kill me. You have known me since I was a baby. I will never kill anyone!” I screamed, but she turned her head away looking in the opposite direction.

“No, please! Look at me!" I screamed as the guards pulled me away from the throne room back to the dungeon.
