Elena:

I sat on the couch, getting lost in my thoughts, as I considered what Alvize just told me.

I put my finger on my bottom lip, thinking, my heart racing, and my chest aching as I couldn’t help but feel both confused and guilty. The man was my mate, and that wasn’t something that I wanted to let go of. Finding him was luck enough for me, and that wasn’t something that I wanted to lose.
