Chapter 3

Erika told Allison to get in the house so she could deal with the strangers that were sitting in her driveway.

Allison looked back at Jenson tears streaming from her eyes already from embarrassment and apologized.

Jensen tried to stand up to Erika for Allison explaining that school was out at 3pm and Allison was still sitting alone at 3:45pm.

Erika didn't want to hear any of it. She shoved past Jensen with her pointer finger in the air yelling at Jensen's mom.

Mrs. Brown got out of her vehicle to talk with Erika. "I'm Sorry for the misunderstanding Mrs. Grey. We didn't mean any harm in bringing Allison home. My son and your daughter have classes together and when we saw her sitting alone well after school had been let out we thought we could take her home instead of leaving her in the cold."

The temperature outside had dropped from this morning. It was now 33⁰ outside.

A cold front was quickly moving in. The temperature didn't bother Erika and Allison much. They lived most of their lives in Warmer states so it was nice to be in colder areas for once. Colorado was absolutely beautiful this time of year.

Erika stood face to face with Mrs. Brown arguing in circles until Mrs. Brown had enough. "I'm sorry Mrs. Grey, Jensen and I have to get home, we have chores to get done before it snows in the morning."

Erika wasn't finished though and threatened "If I ever see my daughter in your car again I will call the cops and have you arrested. you have absolutely no right taking her anywhere without my permission. I will be calling the school in the morning and informing them of what has happened today."

Allison had opened her window and watched in embarrassment. After the argument between her mother and Mrs. Brown was over she watched Jensen and his mom get in their car and back out of the driveway.

Jensen looked up and saw Allison and waved at her. Allison tucked her long dark brown hair behind her ear, waved back, closed her window and walked away.

Her room was upstairs on the 2nd floor of their home so she could see and hear everything that happened.

She laid down on her bed trying to process everything she had just witnessed.

She closed her eyes and wished things were different with her mother.

Why did her mother always have to act the way she did?

Allison thought about how her mother was as she was growing up. Her mother had never been protective over her.

Honestly she wasn't being productive of her now either. Allison knew it was all about control with her mother.

She was always controlling in every situation when Allison was a young child. She had never even let her go to public school because she couldn't control Allison's learning environment and friends.

Erika hated not being in control of all situations when it came to her life and the people involved in it. Most of the time if she didn't get her way she would have a toddler tantrum.
