Mr. Holt was pleased, and Mr. Reed and the others laughed heartily. The better the atmosphere on my side, the more flustered Charles seemed to get next door.

Not long after, while the waiter was serving our food, I could hear voices outside. "Charles, didn't you say Mr. Reed and the others were coming? We've been waiting for half an hour, and not a single person has shown up!" Susan complained impatiently.

Charles, frowning, pulled out his phone and dialed a number. But before he could finish, the ringtone from Mr. Reed's phone rang out right in our room. The door was still open. Charles's face lit up, and he stormed in.

Seeing us gathered there, his expression twisted. "Angus, you're shameless! Mr. Reed is my client, and you just swooped in to steal him!"

I almost laughed. "Mr. Reed is a grown man. Do you really think I could just 'steal' him away? Listen to yourself!"

Everyone in the room was staring at Charles, their eyes full of disdain. His face turned red, and he clench

When I heard him say that, I took a deep breath. Susan's recklessness was astonishing, she actually trusted Charles enough to come up with millions in funds. At this point, it was not that I did not want to help her. She was just digging her own grave. If this blew up, not even selling everything they had would cover the losses. When I launched my new company, Susan unexpectedly showed up. "I thought I'd support you, considering we were married once," she said with a smirk. "Mainly, I just want to see how long someone like you can last. I'd bet a hundred bucks you'll be bankrupt within a month!" Seeing her smug expression, I could not help but laugh. "Don't worry. Even if you fall, I won't." I reached into my pocket, pulled out a hundred-dollar bill, and tossed it to her. "Here, take this and use it to buy some medicine. You don't want to be short on cash when you need to get an abortion!" Her face twisted with rage, but I just had her thrown out. I did not need her b

Mr. Reed, in high spirits, explained everything to me. "It all came crashing down. Ever since your people left, she's been without any real talent on her team. Charles hired people who didn't know the technical side of things, and the third-party outsourcing company took the money and ran. Now, the creditors are coming after them because of the collateral they put up. Susan's in a bad spot. Lucky for you, you're not the one left to clean up her mess!" I was genuinely surprised at how things had turned out, but it was hard to feel sorry for Susan. This was her karma for putting all her faith in Charles. "Get ready for tonight," Mr. Reed added. "By the way, Emily will be joining us!" Holt had previously mentioned introducing me to his daughter. We met up, and things went well between us. Though, for now, I felt more admiration than anything else. Emily came from a business family and had been accompanying her father to various events since she was young, so she was no stranger to

"Angus, do you really have to talk to me like this? I just made a mistake. Can't you just let it go?" Susan pleaded. "You're doing so well now, and you've landed yourself a wealthy heiress. Can't you… Can't you help me out?" I scoffed coldly. "Do you think you deserve my help?" Her face fell. "Stay away from me," I said sharply. "Otherwise, you'll upset Emily." With that, I walked away. Emily, following behind, looked down at Susan with disdain. "Susan, Angus doesn't take back trash, and he doesn't go back to his past." Susan's face twisted with humiliation. She covered her face and ran off, crying. I gave Emily a thumbs-up, she was sharp as ever, giving Susan no room to retort. Susan was no match for her. The collaboration with the Morgan family went smoothly, and Susan's world completely collapsed. She and Charles had a massive argument, and the next time I saw her, it was on the news. Charles had pushed Susan down a flight of stairs, knocking her unconscious. She

I forced a bitter smile and turned around, leaving without hesitation. Behind me, Charles tried to comfort her, "Don't be angry, Susan, Angus didn't mean to lash out like that. You gave me such a valuable gift, and it must not sit well with him!" "Hmph! If he doesn't like it, he should try harder! All he does is slack off day in and day out. If he can't stand others doing well, he should actually accomplish something!" As usual, Susan Lynn lifted one person up while putting another down. I had long since gotten used to it. Ever since Charles came back, Susan had become a different person. Whenever I showed even a hint of dissatisfaction, she'd mock me. However, she never considered the fact that I was the one who brought in most of the company's major clients. Even the deal that Charles just signed was a result of me hounding the client for a month before they finally agreed. Since Susan valued him so highly, I figured I'd let him handle it. Afterward, Charles sent me

Half an hour later, I completed all the formalities with the HR manager, and as soon as I stepped out, I ran into Charles. With a mocking tone, he sneered, "Where are you off to, Angus? I heard you quit. Got a better opportunity lined up?" His words immediately painted me as someone climbing the corporate ladder, assuming I was off to greener pastures. Now, my colleagues were giving me strange looks. I smiled calmly and did not bother to refute him. "That's right, I can see this company is going downhill, so I'm getting out while the getting's good. Take it easy once you take over. Don't run the place into the ground!" His face darkened instantly. "What's that supposed to mean, Angus?" "Just what it sounds like. Didn't you understand?" I shot him with a disdainful look and turned to leave. From behind, Charles chuckled derisively. "Susan said you'd come crawling back if you knew what's good for you. If you apologize, she'll forgive you. Then you can be my assistant an

I had been running around tirelessly, chasing down clients and even helping Mr. Reed take care of his sick son. But when it came time to sign the contract, Charles just showed up for a single meeting, and suddenly all the credit went to him. I did not argue. I just stared at Susan, who knew she was in the wrong. Her face turned bright red with anger. I placed the divorce papers on the table. She softened her tone. "Angus, is it really necessary? Why don't we compromise? I'll give you three million. Just don't divorce me and help me talk to Mr. Reed. Get him to release the payment as soon as possible, okay?" I shook my head. "No. Let's just get divorced." She flew into a rage, "Angus, don't you dare regret this!" I did not respond. If she was not willing, then so be it. Regardless, I still had to prepare for the worst. If they ran the company into the ground, or even into debt, I would still be responsible for a share. So, I had to finalize the divorce before they made

A scream echoed, followed by my father-in-law's furious shouts and Charles's cries of pain. When my mother-in-law stormed in, things got even more chaotic. I entered last, my face dark with anger. "Susan, how could you cheat on me like this? I want a divorce!" I slapped her hard, snapped a few photos, and then turned to leave. The police and hotel staff arrived right after. Seeing the scene, they all looked uncomfortable. Once I got home, I could not help but laugh. As disgusting and embarrassing as the situation was, I had achieved my goal. Half an hour later, Susan's parents dragged her back home. Her face was swollen. It seemed I was not the only one who had slapped her. Her parents had given her a stern lesson too. She was furious, glaring at me with rage. "Angus, this was all your plan, wasn't it? You did this on purpose. Charles told me—" "Shut up!" her father interrupted, yelling. "You've brought nothing but shame on our family today! You are going to end it wi
