Chapter 9

My face flushed with anger. “You shameless scumbag! You’re a monster!”

He ignored me. As soon as the car stopped, he dragged me toward the villa by my wrist. I struggled against him, but he scooped me up, carried me inside, and threw me onto the bed. He ripped my dress down.

He sneered, “Keep yelling—why’d you stop?”

I kicked and scratched at him, trying to break free. He fumbled as he tried to pin down my legs and arms, looking almost ridiculous, though his voice remained harsh and wild. “Didn’t I tell you to be back by six? Why can’t you listen, huh?”

“Let me go! Get off of me!”

“I asked you why you didn’t listen to your husband, Mich. Now stay still!”

I bit down hard on his arm, making him grunt and loosen his grip. I immediately kicked him off me and bolted toward the door. In my frantic attempt to escape, I misstepped and fell back onto the floor, looking up at him in horror as I scrambled away.

He stared down at me, giving a cold snort. He loosened two buttons on his shirt
