Aisha's POV

“Usually fiction, but lately I’ve been trying to read self-development books,” I said. “Maybe it could help balance my life.”

Julien nodded in agreement. “That’s important. We need time for ourselves amidst the busyness.”

I looked at him. There was something in his tone that felt familiar—exhaustion, hidden loneliness, or maybe just the feeling that we were both struggling to maintain balance in our busy lives.

“Sometimes, I feel like I’m living in two worlds,” I said, trying to share. “Between work and personal life, and often feeling stuck.”

Julien nodded, his eyes showing understanding. “I feel that too. Working at the hospital can be very demanding, and it’s sometimes hard to find time for yourself.”

“I think that’s why we need moments like this—stepping out of the routine, talking to others,” I added.

He smiled, but there was a sadness hidden behind it. “True. These little moments can make a big difference.”

Aisha's POVAs we exited the restaurant, the night breeze gently touched my face. I straightened my jacket collar, gazing at the somewhat empty streets. The streetlights twinkled, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The sound of our footsteps echoed between the quiet buildings, adding to the intimacy of the night.Julien walked beside me, smiling occasionally, and I could feel the warmth of his presence. We talked about everything, from the food we had just enjoyed to plans for the weekend. Every word that came from his mouth flowed so naturally, making me feel comfortable.“What did you think about the food there?” Julien asked, looking at me with enthusiasm.“It was amazing! I didn’t expect their pizza to be that good,” I replied, recalling the taste of melted cheese in my mouth. We continued walking, and as we passed a small park, I paused for a moment. Aisha's POV Upon seeing my arm being grabbed, Julien rushed over in two long strides and immediately seized Sean's hand. With precision, he twisted Sean's arm behind his back, applying enough pressure that Sean was forced to release his grip.“What are you doing?” Julien said sharply, his face turning serious. There was no warm smile that I usually saw, just a cold glare filled with anger.Sean struggled to break free, his face tense. “Let go! Who are you, huh?!”Julien ignored him, maintaining his firm grip. “I said let go!” Sean shouted, his voice full of tension.Still in shock, I quickly held Julien's hand. “Julien, enough. Please... let him go.”Julien turned to me, still holding onto his anger. But seeing my pleading expression, he finally released Sean slowly. Sean immediately stepped back a few paces, holding his shoulder and breathing heavily. The two men stared at each other, and I felt the tension in t

Aisha's POV A few minutes later, I returned with two cups of warm tea. I handed one to him, then sat down on the other end of the couch, keeping a good distance, but not too unfamiliar. “Thank you,” he said, taking the cup. “You really came at the right time,” I finally said, staring at the clear liquid in my cup. “I was… a little panicked.” Julien nodded, his face showing understanding. “I can imagine. It must not have been easy for you.” I took a deep breath, trying to calm the lingering anxiety. “I don’t want to rehash the past, but sometimes it’s hard to completely shut it out.” He looked at me gently. “You took a big step by talking to him directly. It wasn’t easy.” “Yes, but it still feels like something is hanging over my head,” I said, taking a sip of my tea. “I wish I could let it all go completely.” Julien looked at me, his face serious but gentle. “Aisha, you’re not alone. I know this ma

Aisha's POV I took a deep breath, already preparing myself for the question. “He’s… my ex-husband.” My voice sounded calmer than I expected.Julien looked a little surprised, but he remained silent, waiting for me to continue.“We got married a few years ago,” I continued, looking into my cup as if seeking strength from within it. “But our marriage didn’t last long. Sean… he had someone else. I just found out that he didn’t really love me, and he chose to go with that woman because he thought she was the one he had been looking for all this time.”I smiled a little, bitterly. “It hurts, of course. I love him. I trusted him. But all that is not enough to hold on to someone whose heart has left.”Julien listened intently, not interrupting. I could see the empathy in his eyes, and it made me feel a little lighter. “It must be very painful, Aisha. Loss like that is not easy to deal with.”“Yes,” I continued, “and the process is quite lon

Aisha's POV We sat in silence for a moment, letting the quiet fill the space between us. But it wasn’t an awkward silence; it felt comfortable, like two people who didn’t need to talk constantly to feel understood.I felt a rare sense of peace. In this moment, I knew that Julien and I were on the same wavelength. There was a mutual respect, and without words, we could sense what the other was experiencing. The aroma of chamomile still lingered in the air, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the night. My thoughts wandered, reflecting on the journey I had taken. Though full of wounds, I knew that every experience had shaped who I was now.I glanced at Julien, who was still slowly sipping his tea. There was a calmness in his movements, something that made me feel safer than I had felt in a long time. Unconsciously, I sighed softly, realizing how tired I was of carrying everything alone for so long. That night felt different. When I looke

Aisha's POV I slowly opened my eyes, feeling a gentle pulse in my chest. It felt strange, yet soothing. My new heart was working, beating with a rhythm that still felt foreign to me.It had been weeks since the heart transplant surgery, but I still couldn't quite believe that I had been given a second chance at life.I turned to the hospital room window. The morning sun warmed my pale skin. The fresh air from outside mixed with the distinct smell of antiseptic.I was still here, in this cold white room, waiting for the doctor to tell me that I was strong enough to go home. My presence in this room felt like a reminder, a symbol of the struggle I had been through. The door to my room opened. A nurse entered, smiling warmly."How are you feeling today?"I sighed."A little better."She nodded."The doctor will be here shortly. Today might be your day to go home."My heart—or perhaps the heart of another person that now belonged to me—began to beat faster. Home. But where? My life bef

Aisha's POV Three years had passed since our wedding day. Our married life seemed perfect. Every day, Sean made sure I felt safe and loved. He was attentive, always waking me with a gentle kiss on the forehead. In every morning routine, he would make sure I took my medications and always checked on my condition as if I were something very fragile—a treasure to be carefully guarded."Your heartbeat is my greatest gift," he would say every time I asked why he was so caring. His words were a reminder I always looked forward to, a reminder that I was valuable and worthy of love.I smiled every time I heard it. This simple happiness provided an invaluable comfort. Yet, in the corner of my heart, there was a question that always troubled me.What exactly did he see in me? I could never fully shake off that insecurity. That night, I lay awake in the dark. The sun had set, and our room was enveloped in silence. I stared at the ceiling and reminisced about the past. Many memories swirled in m

Aisha's POV The light rain drizzled on the streets, creating reflections of dim streetlights. I sat in the living room, wearing the dress I had carefully chosen for this special night—our third wedding anniversary.Little candles flickered on the dining table, creating a warm and loving atmosphere.Every detail had been prepared with love, hoping this would be an unforgettable night. However, something felt odd tonight. An uneasy feeling hung in the air, tightening my chest.I glanced at the clock. It had been over an hour since he promised to come home. My heart raced, and anxiety began to creep into my heart. My thoughts were filled with various possibilities."Is he late because of work?" or "Is something happening to him?"The longer I waited, the more painful the uncertainty became. Finally, the front door opened, and he walked in. But he was not alone.A woman stood beside him. Beautiful, elegant, with eyes that hinted at something sharp. She wore a graceful black dress, and he

Aisha's POV The supermarket that night was not too crowded, just filled with the occasional squeak of shopping carts and soft instrumental music from the ceiling speakers. I pushed my cart slowly, letting my eyes wander through the rows of fresh, colorful fruits. Apples, pears, oranges… everything looked tempting after a long, tiring day.I stopped in front of the vegetable aisle, staring at the fresh broccoli and bright carrots. The earthy aroma of freshly harvested vegetables reminded me of the little garden in my grandmother's backyard. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching.“Do you need help?” someone asked, lifting a package of tomatoes.I shook my head, feeling a bit awkward. “No, thank you. I’m just browsing.”He nodded and continued on his way. I resumed my search, but my mind kept drifting back to his smile. My fridge was completely empty, with only two eggs and a carton of almond milk that had expired two days ago. I hadn’t had time to shop all week, and when I opened the

Aisha's POV For now, I just wanted to be Aisha, focused on my work, with the dream clinic I was building. My self-confidence was starting to grow, and I felt more prepared to face the challenges ahead.Additionally, there was a warm feeling beginning to grow in my heart, connected to someone who was slowly making me feel safe again. Perhaps all of this was part of the process of moving forward, letting go of the burdens of the past, and embracing new possibilities. As Dita and I walked back toward the elevator to the inpatient floor, the atmosphere in the corridor still felt ordinary. We both carried the remnants of our light conversation from the café, but many things lingered in our minds. I glanced at my watch, thinking about quickly organizing a follow-up schedule for my patients, when suddenly...DING!The emergency alert from my hospital phone rang loudly. I immediately stopped in my tracks and answered the call from the internal number

Aisha's POV We walked to the café with steps slightly slower than usual. Dita didn’t say much, and I knew she was holding back. Occasionally, she glanced at the box in my hand but didn’t ask anything. I appreciated that. The atmosphere around us was quite lively, but my heart felt empty. There was something heavy in the air, and I could sense the tension between us. Dita was my good friend, and we had been through a lot together. But today felt different.I stared at the small box in my hand, reminded of what was inside. It was something important, something that could change everything. However, I also knew that sometimes, words weren’t enough to explain complex feelings. As soon as we arrived at the café, we ordered right away. I chose a cappuccino as usual, while Dita opted for iced coffee. We picked a table near the window, which was quiet and slightly hidden from the crowd. The atmosphere inside the café was cozy, with the aroma of coffe
