Chapter 16

"Oh, you're something else! Hannah, you actually hired a private investigator to follow me? How dare you?!"

Caught off guard, Hannah felt an unexpected sense of relief. The folder had burst open, scattering a few photos at her feet.

She glanced down at them.

They were pictures of Shawn and Denise entering and leaving an apartment. There wasn’t anything particularly scandalous in the images, though. It was hard to tell whether they had been careful to avoid detection or if Felix hadn't done his job thoroughly.

"Hannah! Answer me! Give me an explanation!"

Shawn was furious. His grip on Hannah's shoulders tightened painfully, and her expression shifted with discomfort.

Her eyes reddened with the pressure, and she pushed him away forcefully, shouting, "Yes, Shawn, I did it! I hired a detective to investigate you two. So what? Did I do something wrong? You are my husband, and you’re going in and out with another woman. Am I not allowed to be jealous?"

Shawn paused, momentarily stunned.
