Chapter 3

"What about me, stepmother?" Just as Gloria prepared to scold her, Jane interrupted with a carefree demeanor, casting a glare toward her stepmother, who recoiled in apprehension.

Who wouldn’t feel fear in the presence of a volatile girl unafraid to kill in an instant?

Jane Michaelson is a force to reckoned with. She doesn't fear anyone nor does she care about anyone or the consequences of her actions until the damage is already done.

Just standing in front of her and her smile would send shiver down your spine because her presence norepinephrine her smile has ever been a good thing.

Her attire and makeup only emphasized her fierce reputation.

"I didn’t come here for any of you trashes. Now, I would advise you leave my way if you don't want ti experience how my hand be on your cheek!" Jane said as she unceremoniously shoved Gloria out of her way.

Sue didn't care whether she was her stepmother or not. Besides, she had never liked that materialistic woman ever since she was a kid.

"You... How dare talk to my .om and treat her like that!" Esther said to Jane furiously. However, the trembling in her voice betrayed her and she dared not to come closer to Jane out of fear.

"I thought you were only a slut, who would go to any extent to ruin her sister’s

marriage. But I never knew you were also stupid! I dare you to repeat what you said and I promise you this; I shall make the ground eat your face away to the extent even your stupid mother wouldn't be able to recognize you!" Jane spat as her before choosing to ignore a pest like her.

Ignoring everyone around them, Jane made her way directly to Margaret, her stepsister, who sat on the floor with tears and blood staining her face.

With a matching frown and clenched fists, Jane steadied herself and offered a sweet smile to Margaret as she reached into her small backpack for a handkerchief, gently wiping away the tears and blood.

"Jane! What are you doing here?" Margaret asked softly, offering a timid smile to her

stepsister, who felt more like a sister by blood.

Jane and Margaret had been good friends aside from being stepsisters ever since they were kids. Thus, Esther hated both of them because she couldn't connect with any of her two sisters because of her attitude.

Jane returned Margaret's smile and assisted her in standing up, affectionately tapping her nose. "What? Aren't you glad to see me? Is that it, big Sister?" she teased, to which Margaret shook her head vigorously.

"Quit joking! You know that’s not true! I will always be happy to see you." Margaret replied with a smile, though Jane's expression grew somber as she took in her

sister's distressed state.

"If I hadn't come when Dad told me about everything, those filthy vultures would have surely finished you off before either Mom or Dad got here," Jane said in a serious tone as glared at everyone in the room coldly.

"I swear, Jane! I never cheated on Alex. I don’t understand why he believed Esther instead of me. I would never do such a thing! This pregnancy is his!." New tears streamed down Margaret's cheeks as she tried to make at least one person to believe her.

Jane shook her head and gently wiped away her tears, grabbing her sister’s shoulders firmly as she said...

"You, Margaret Michaelson, do not deserve to cry! Stop this nonsense! Let those morons think whatever they like! But I forbid you to cry over such a worthless person! He has no right to you, not in any way that makes sense.

We are the Michaelsons; we show no weakness in front of our enemies. So, my dear sweet sister, it's time to pull yourself together and stop those tears!

Even if others doubt you, remember that Mom, Dad, and I stand by you! So please, no more crying!" Jane said affectionately as she continued to wipe away Margaret's tears, which seemed relentless.

A mixture of joy and relief surged in Margaret's heart. The support from her father, stepmother, and stepsister meant

the world to her at that critical moment. At least she no longer felt alone.

In an ironic twist, it was her biological mother and sister who were trying hardest to undermine her, while her stepmother and stepsister were the ones who believed in her. What a twisted fate?

"Enough of this drama! Just sign the divorce papers and leave my home right now!" Alex's angry voice sounded, shattering the tender moment between the stepsisters.

Both Margaret and Jane turned to him, their faces infuriated, causing Alex to shrink back. He felt as though his breath had been taken away; the hatred reflected in Margaret's eyes was something he had never seen before.

The Margaret he remembered had always been sweet and cheerful, quick to apologize to avoid conflict, even when she was innocent of any wrongdoing.

But now, he was witnessing a different side of her, and it unsettled him, igniting a flicker of fear at her fierce glare.

"Thank you, Jane, for reminding me of my roots as a Michaelson. We don’t tolerate any nonsense. I've been ignoring my true nature for far too long. It’s time for me to act like a Michaelson!" Margaret declared, swiftly picking up the pen and signing the divorce papers without hesitation.

Her actions didn't shock only Alex but also her own mother and sister, who thought she would never sign the divorce papers.

Margaret then walked toward Alex with deliberate steps. As she stood before him, it was clear to everyone just how much he trembled in fear.

What's going on? What changed Margaret just now? Why does she look so fierce?

The seething hatred emanating from Margaret was terrifying, as this was the first time Alex had witnessed her in such a state.

"You know what, Alex? I'm relieved that the child I’m carrying isn’t yours. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be the father of my child!" Margaret screamed at him.
