Chapter 4

Reed Parker~

"Detective Reed, please!" The monitor went off, He could hear his name being called and called but he wasn’t going to budge from where he was, How could he! The best in his field be asked to go solve some petty crime in Cunningham? 

Heck! He graduated top of his class in the police academy! He caught the well known notorious 'Checkers!' Robbers and now he is being asked to go to a town named Cunningham? What a joke!

"Yo man! Reed! The chief has been calling you!" Jordan" His colleague says to him and he sat properly to look at the 

man "I know!” He says and the man groans 

"Oh look, here he comes” They both look up to see the man looking directly at Reed and glaring hard at him

"Reed! You are this close to loosing it!!” The man says angrily and Reed stands up from his chair "No disrespect Chief, But really, Cunningham? Why!” He says and the man groans "There is no talking your way out of this, you leave for Cunningham first thing tomorrow morning, Pack your thing and go home, and I mean home Reed! Cunningham needs you" The Chief says and he sighs, He knew there was no way he could talk his way out of this one, He was bound to go

"And you Jordan, Meet me in my office!" Chief says and looks at Reed before walking away “I guess that’s it my man, say hello to Cunningham" Jordan says and pats Reed on the shoulder, walking away

"Fucking Cunningham!" Reed groaned, I mean who names a city Cunningham 

He goes ahead to his desk and packs up, Now he has to say goodbye to Ginevra, His Italian damsel 

His phone starts to ring and he brought it out to see it was Ginevra calling him “Ciao baby" He says and listened to her speak over the phone " I'll be at your house by 7pm, I have something to tell you" He says and hung up the call "Is that the new one for the week?" He heard a female voice say and he turned to see who it was, The one and only Jenny Rawlings! She was like a thorn in his flesh, always butting up in his business 

"Oh its you Jenny, Thought I would never see you again!” He says and puts the phone back in his pocket and continued dumping his stuff into the cardboard provided 

"Heard you will be leaving for Cunningham, Guess God finally granted your wish, at least I don’t have to see that annoying face of yours " The woman says

"Fortunately yes, I wouldn’t want you spreading all that negative vibes on me So yes, Cunningham it is!” He says and pick up the cardboard box and walks away

"I hope you have a nice time in Cunningham!"The woman yelled but he could hear the sarcasm in her voice

"I hope you have The Worst time here when I leave!” He said with all his seriousness and smirked when he got no reply from the woman, He dumps the cardboard box into the car boot and looks at the police station, Taking out a cigarette from his pocket and a lighter, He puts it on and placed it between his lips.Well Cunningham it is then.

He heads towards the driver seat and opens the door but not before looking at the station once again, He could see Jordan’s tall figure waving at him from the chief’s office and he gave a small salute.

Getting into his car, he drove away and turned up the speaker in the car as he sang along with Marvin Gaye 'Sexual Healing’.

He pulled up at his house still singing to the song, He could see a woman sitting on the Porsche and he furrowed his eyebrows, He put of the engine of the car and got of out the car, He says walked towards the boot and opened it, bringing out his box he closed the boot and walked towards the house

"Did you get fired?" The Redhead says and he smiled, “Nope, Chrissy! I got transferred” He says and the woman chuckled "Transferred? To where?” She asked as he approached her, A sigh escaping his lips "What are you doing here, Chrissy? Shouldn’t you be at the plant thingy you work?” He asked her and opened the door to his apartment, Making way for the both of them to come in

"Where did you get transferred to?" He heard her say and he dumped the box on the couch, kicking his boots off "Why are you here?” He asked again and she sighs

"I came because it’s been so long I saw you, You don’t call or text since we saw at mom’s place” she says and he rolled his eyes 

"I don’t have a reason to call or text you, Chrissy! You can go back to your plant place!" He says bluntly and heard her inhale sharply, Walking into his kitchen he opened his refrigerator and got a can of beer out.

"I have some packing to do, you can leave Chrissy!” He says and walked out to his bedroom 

"Reed! You can’t keep ignoring me when you want? You are going to have to face reality!" She says and holds him by his arm

"And what is the reality? Tell me! What the fuck is your reality?” He asked, his voice portraying pain, Chrissy shut her eyes close as a sigh escaped her lips

“I thought as much" He says and gently removes the hand she placed on his arm "Please leave!" He says and removes his suitcase to dump his clothes in it

The woman looked at her brother and a tear escaped her eye "I’ll see you around!” She says but it came out as a whisper 

Her footsteps could be heard as she walked out of the house, Reed took a deep breath and continued packing his clothes

By this time tomorrow he would be in Cunningham!
